  2. 5/18/12 I just learned that EscapedTurkey, our hosting company, is shifting their servers around. The new one is in Chicago, so there may be a new IP. I don't have time to update the web page and the JediTracker yet (probably won't for awhile, but hopefully I can do that this summer).   4. Burn it to a CD and play it in your CD player? Or convert it to another format like Ogg-vorbis (lossless) or MP3 (compressed) and play it in the background on a loop as the next best t hing.
  5. Oddly, as I recall, if you wanted anything more than silence in MP, you had to rip the tracks from your disc or use the infamous (taboo and unsupported!) cd crack. People would always chide me for playing music while I played MP, but I could still hear people coming (though I did often mute it during KFY so I could hear the chirping better!). My suggestion is to rip the music off your own CD and play it in a loop. You can cut the tracks to your liking and play 'em in winamp if you like.

  9. To get them working without distorted colors or artifacts in Win7 I had to play them in a window. Check JKhub for details.
  10. You can't play the music without the discs, unless you ripped the tracks to your hard drive that is. I suggest making copies. The audio really adds a lot to the atmosphere of SP. Though eventually you may opt for silence or your own tunes for MP as many of us did.

  13. Yeah, the Kell dragons are a lot stronger in JK than they were in Dark Forces. Fists alone just won't do it this time. Try a lightsaber. The Rancor in MOTS is tougher, but at least they're a bigger, slower target.

You can use compatibility mode for most things (right click), however in this case you need the replacement installers (fan-made) which are found on JKhub. http://www.jkhub.net/project/show.php?projid=547 (the old alternative link at jkhub.massassi.net is down but the original link is active again!)
  18. Every Christmas I dig one out. Actually I created the ones I have using photoshop and google image search (I went a little crazier on the other). Try it sometime, it's fun (Paint.Net is free if you don't have PS or PSP).
  19. I had a lot of video driver problems on my new laptop, but I have since learned that laptops are their own animal, they require SPECIAL video card drivers found on the laptop company's web page. The other drivers, even if they are newer, either won't install or goof things up!

  21. Just to let people know, regarding blood mods, I put a JK2 and JA one up on my site (see link in signature) which I like. Of course use whatever you like (or don't use it). I have noticed that generally the blood mods are more over-the-top graphic in single player mode, but just right (IMHO) in MP. MTFBWY
  22. Whatever happens, the next JK game will NOT be like Force Unleashed. I've played both FU games on the PC (yeah,that acronym never gets old) and while it may be fun for what it is, it's NOTHING like the JK series. The JK series has always been about a combination of force, sabers (that aren't just button mashing), and other weapons, and a combination of engaging single player and robust multiplayer. Additionally it has both first and third person perspectives. That's the direction of the series since 1997 with Dark Forces II. Anything less and I just can't accept it as part of the series, whatever else might be different. Another part of the series has been the ability to edit and create mods. Not the most important, but a big part of it for many of us. You don't get that with console games. The Force physics in TFU/2 is pretty nifty. I'm sure if that were part of the JK series, people would appreciate it. However the rest of the game would need to be completely different. If it were a button mashing linear console game, it just wouldn't do it. Obi-Wan, ROTS, Force Unleashed are Jedi games that have come out in the last decade, but none of them are really connected with the JK series. So I look forward to such time, when they create a true successor. As others have said every time we're discussing a sequel, the new game, at minimum, has to do what the previous game in the series did, only better. One other thing... in JK2 and JA, it's true the saber didn't usually kill enemies in 1 hit on default settings, however there was always an option for "realistic" saber damage, such that the sabers cut down enemies in 1-2 hits (not just with certain power moves) and dismembered them. Since that was there, nobody ever complained, really. If the game forces the saber to act like a nerf bat, and requires you to use combos with every attack (anyone remember "Jedi Power Battles"?) it gets annoying and starts to lose that Star Wars feeling and that JK feeling. All considered, the JK games have a staying power that goes beyond a single player campaign or a fun weekend rental of a few rounds of multiplayer. That's why the next JK game has a great legacy to follow and big shoes to fill.

  24. Well into 2012 and we're still afloat! I have to reboot the server manually sometimes (if I happen to notice), but it should be working properly.
  25. Seems there might be some problems running it in Win7 after all with the renaming function. Somebody needs to update this program... People ought to post on the jkhub.net forums and massassi.net to see if someone is up to the task!
