I can't get enough of this. It's amazing.
There is also a "black & bone" version:

I recently commissioned this Grim Fandango statue and I wanted to share it with you guys
The idea was to capture the scene as close to it’s original polygon glory as possible

Being from Argentina, we always got the Spanish releases, I have many of those. I also managed to get a copy of CMI from Brazil. Will post some photos later

i'm tempted to do a second run to get all the Murray lines and the Guybrush comments on certain locations, but I still don't know how checkpoints work. On a side note, the water in this game is awesome

After the first two puzzles I was fairly dissapointed, but I think thing take off after that. Once you get the chef's clothes and access to the items in the kitchen the game gets a little bit more adventure like. I had a hard time with the controls, the items wheel, etc, but overall I really enjoyed the experience.

BossFight Studios has announced two new Sam and Max action figures: Kaiju Sam and Mecha Max
They are huge and look interesting, Max's design is from the cartoon and Sam's seems to be a new design from Steve Purcell
They are doing some crowfunding for them but some sites are already hosting pre-orders

Between this and Daniels interview I have to set aside about 6 hours of my week dedicated to DOTT. We truly live in some sort of LucasArts's golden era renaissance.
I do agree with Sam and Max Hit the Road being unfairly regarded as the lesser game. Hope it gets some love too.

I doubt this, as it only came about because someone happened to raise the question of the maps used for the Hit The Road box for a personal project, and the purchase of a book with the original map used for FoA was crowdfunded on here.
My bad then! Many of the games announced by LRG had their posters recently revisited by @Laserschwert and I tought Indy was the case too.
-
I'm pretty sure they were considered. Not sure what their status is now. My theory is that the whole tracking down of the original assets used for the FOA box that went down on the posters thread had to do with a possible rerelease.
So a few thing could've happened
- They decided to slow down the releases, since they were to close too each other and too expensive.
- They wanted to wait for the movie
- The sales of previous games went down and it got cancelled
- LucasFilm Games shifted it's focus back to Star Wars
- LRG cancelled future special editions of big boxes because they don't fit their new SE standar

Yes, Atlantis is next

Yes, I'm actually the one replying to him in that thread 🤓

I'm aware nostalgia is very profitable, but I still see these releases as a celebratrion of these games, that didn't get as much love as other classic franchisies after their release. I know they are cult classics but they didn't get merch/ost/remasters until very recently. Being able to get an official replica of the orginal games, with some extra goodies on it seems unreal.
Regarding Zak, nerds are on it again a there seems to be some discussion around the box's background pattern:
Also these LRG releases could use their megathread, right? It will be nice to revisit it in a couple of years

Is anybody, except for scalpers, seriously buying these?
I am. I feel a little bit foolish now since everyone seems to hate them.
I collect LucasArts big box releases for adventure games so the idea of them getting re-released in 2023 is pretty exciting to me.

This is pretty cool. It's cool too see where all the re-working @Laserschwert is doing is going. Perhaps Zak and Indy FoA are next

It does seem interesting, but I’m not a fan of the artwork and the text on the website is not particularly well translated. It seems a little bit amateurish so I think I will wait until the book is out and we get some reviews.

Really happy to hear this, as it’s been my goal with this release: Make a “lost collectors edition” that could have come out alongside the original game, where the classic size game box is packed as full as it can possibly be with extra features.
Really glad you are involved @Jake
I really like the LucasFilm Games logo with the LucasArts style beige background
I also missed that the hint book was also part art book, so yeah, the pricing is fair!

It looks really good. It is what fans have been asking for: an almost identical release to the original one, with some goodies. I wonder if @Laserschwert has been involved in this.
It's courious that this is a re-release from a 30 year old game that has not been remastered or upgraded since then. Perhaps we can see more LucasArts classics in the future?
PS: I would've been totally fine with fewer extras and a more friendly price

That's some nice looking art, and I about to crowd-fund the project on the basis of that tweet, but the actual cover of this issue is apparently devoted to a gory horror title and I can barely stomach looking at it. Seems like a cool publication overall, but I'm going to have to pass on the basis of my own personal squeamishness.
Yes, it's a dual cover featuring Scorn, a game influenced by HR Giger's art, that I find unsettling too. And I don't think the game was that well reviewed either. On the other side, you get The Last of Us, which I don't personally care much about.
The publisher, Lost in Cult, has some art book too. The recently announced a Sable art book that looks amazing. Perhaps we get something similar for Monkey Island some day. I think that the book included in the Monkey Island Anthology was a missed opportunity
-
Lock-on is a quarterly journal on video games, I think that each issue is crowdfunded and their selling point is being pretty high qualitiy, book like, collectible.
The new issue was recently announced and it features an "in depth retrospective on the history of the first Monkey Island with interviews with the creators and talent behind the legendary series"
Seems pretty interesting, with really cool art by Stephen Graham
It can be backed here: https://www.lostincult.co.uk/
PS: There was an article on Grim Fandango too, on previous issue that I missed

Some updates on the triangle box:
- Either regular editions or collector edition preorders count
- Game cases won't fit inside the box, since it's based on the original DOTT triangle box dimensions
- It's not clear if it is a "one per costumer" deal or if you get multiple boxes if you order multple versions of the games
- Sales made at any point count
- It will probably ship with the last game (Grim Fandango)

I was really disappointed in the iam8bit collector's edition... Cost me £40 ($46) with shipping. I guess it's a lot less than LRG's version though.
I agree, the extras felt pretty cheap. They were just carboard and paper stuff.
But this was $30 back in the day and comes with more stuff than LRG standar edition that costs $35
What was really cool was iam8bit's vinyl soundtrack:
