Movie Poster Photoshop Game (don't get too carried away!)
Crazy_dog no.3 replied to IG-64's topic in Yoda’s Swamp
Checked thisthread for the first time. Some of these are great, LOL. -
Well, I'll give the original something though: It put Carpenter on the Hollywood map were he would go on to make such classics as The Thing (great movie!!!) I'll aslo give him credit for writing, directing, editing and scoring the movie at same time. The only other guy I know who does this is Robert Rodriguez. EDIT: I never said I was more interested in SFX than a good script. In fact I said I wasn't one of those guys. Don't get me wrong though, I didn't think AOP13 was bad, I just found it very overrated.

I have to say I wasn't really impressed by the original. It's not that I'm one of those guys who only likes a movie becuase of good sfx and I can't appreciate low-budget stuff, it's just that...well there are 4 main reasons: -Bizarre script (I didn't get the whole Napoleon thing) - Enemies acting stupidly (they just charge the police station, wtf?) - You would think there would be a lot more gunfire involved in assualting a police station. -

I got back from seeying this a couple hours ago. Anyone else seen it? Well it's no classic like the Godfather or Star Wars, but it is a cool way to spend a couple of hours. Action scenes were not awesome, but they were good enough to keep you entertained. Acting was good all-round. Ethan Hawke was fun, John Leguizamo was OTT (in a good way), that Sopranos chick Drea de Matteo was hot and Lawrence Fishburne practically had "COOL" tattooed on his forehead. And I wasn't as bothered by Ja Rule as I thought I would be. I'm glad they chose not to take the PC/PG-13 route. Plenty of profanity, gory headshots, brutal beatings, etc. Interesting killings include, but not limited to: an icicle through the eye (like in Die Hard 2), being set on fire with two Molotov cocktails and stabbing multiple times with a sword (funny as hell). Like I said, not a classic, but good enough to keep you entertained. By the way, for anyone else who has seen it...

Well it's about bloody time. -
I thought Collateral was a good thriller.

Dodgeball, Collateral and Kill Bill vol.1 Honorable mention: Shaun of the Dead Shrek 2 Team America hasn't come out here yet...

Blooper reel? Ohh, I know. At the end of the credits theres an outtake from the bit when some guy's eye gets pulled out in Vol 1. My mistake. BTW Jackie Brown is on Channel 4 tonight (in the UK) and From Dusk till Dawn is on tomorrow. Films on British standard TV (not cable or whatever) don't usually get censored, unless it's on ITV but that a crappy channel anyway. In the UK you're allowed to show U and PG-rated movies any time of day, but you're only allowed to show 12-rated movies after 8pm, 15-rated movies after 9pm and 18-rated after 10pm, and you must provide a warning. Like for example, last time Dawn of the Dead (the 1978 version) was on, it started at 11:30 and had a warning about "graphic voilence and some strong language", and it was completely uncut. Usually movies are allowed uncut even if they were cut by the BBFC (the British version of the MPAA) unless it's something really hardcore like Cannibal Holocaust and Caligula.

A similiar website would be http://www.ccgr.org , which is kind of like that website but not quite so bad. Anyway, I said it before and I'll say it again. Kids don't become gangsters, rapists or serial killers because of playing voilent games. Sure, the games might be intense or scary, but if the kid doesn't want to be scared then why are they playing it in the first place?! Also E (everyone), T(13+) and M(17+) are pretty broad categories and IMO to be really accurate there should be something in-between. And really I've seen nothing in an M rated game (that's 16+ or 18+ for us Europeans) that a 12 year old can't handle.

I've seen both the regular and "uncut" version of Kill Bill, and I have to say I prefer the regular version. Yes, this is coming from a guy who lives in Britain and has to import foriegn DVDs or face the brutality of pre-2001 British censorship. I thought the "Crazy 88" scene in b/w fitted in with the rest of the movie more, although the uncut version is worth watching if only to see just how damn gory it is.

On the Scarface DVD there's something called "Scarface: The TV version". Funny stuff. Original- So where'd you get the beauty scar, tough guy? Eatin' p*ssy? TV- So where'd you get the beauty scar, tough guy? Eatin' pineapple? Original- Why don't you try stickin' jou head up your ass... TV- Why don't you try stickin' jou head up your toilet... Original- This town like a great big p*ssy jus' waitin' to be f*cked. TV- This town like a great big chicken jus' waitin' to be plucked Here's some other ones I found on the 'net: Original- I need a guy with steel in his balls, Tony. TV- I need a guy with steel in his guts, Tony. Original- F*ck Gasper Gomez, and f*ck the f*ckin' Diaz brothers! F*ck'em all! I bury those cock-a-roaches! TV- Forget Gasper Gomez, and forget the stinkin' Diaz brothers! Forget'em all! I bury those cock-a-roaches!" Original- You know what capitalism is? Gettin' f*cked! TV- You know what capitalism is? Gettin' stiffed! Scarface had over 200 F-words, a record at the time, so I can imagine what the rest of the movie is like on TV.

Top 10 worst movies ever. What are yours?
Crazy_dog no.3 replied to El Sitherino's topic in Yoda’s Swamp
You can name a MacBeth adaptation that's actually worse than the Polanski version? I was forced to watch in in year 9 (I think that's 10th grade for all you Yanks) at school, and apart from the actual storyline itself as well as the unintentional comedy, there was nothing good to say about the film. The acting made Keanu Reeves look like Marlon Brando, the gore looked fake, the sets and costumes were done on a budget (if you don't have enough money to make a historical film, don't try), the music seemed to be composed by a retarded four year old using a keyboard and could they have picked a more boring area of Scotland to film in?
