  1. It's up now. I'm going through what I have from the April 2015 backup of Mojo, which should include full copies of the *.mixnmojo.com sites. Once I get users and everything set up, I can start handing out FTP logins.

Hmmm, is Nightlight Productions there? I'm not sure what the subdomain would be (sorry, it's been a while. :S)

  2. Hi all,

The next Nightlight Productions radio series, Pharaoh: Walking in Memphis, is currently getting underway. The scripts have been written and cast, and recording is in three days time.

Unlike the others this one won't be free on the website, so if you've ever enjoyed a Nightlight Production, appreciate good comedy, or wouldn't mind hearing a comedy radio series, please consider supporting the crowd-funding.

And don't forget, there's still plenty of free radio plays tucked away in a quiet corner of Mojo's hosting on Nightlight Productions.

  3. Here's a novel idea, why don't I post on the forum...

Hi everyone who might stumble in here and read this.

Ah, 2012. Quite a year, eh? Well... not for Nightlight Productions, but still. Those Mayans gave us a run for our money!

Despite what it looks like on Nightlight, I've been a busy guy this year. I turned 32, I travelled to Europe, I met Gabez, I worked full time, I did a lot of journalism work on the side... plus all the stuff that goes along with married life. You guys get it, right?

And then... I'll be honest with you... it's really hard to edit together a radio play these days. In the old days (pre 2005) making a radio play involved wandering into the university radio station, bothering the people who work there, and going into a recording studio. That's where I got my actors from, and editing was a matter of clipping out what works and mixing in sound effects.

These days, living on the other side of the country and using voice talent from all over the world, I get to work with some great talent but editing involves mixing every individual line. It's a painstaking, slow process that I have little time to devote to.

As much as this sounds like I'm giving up though, I'm not. I love making radio plays too much to throw it away. I'm six parts through a story that I'm determined to finish, in the least. So what does that mean?

Next year I'm trying something new. It's too soon to let out too many details, but let's just say that there will be new radio plays, the way they should be.

The Power of Monkey Island will eventually be finished - in fact, part 7 is complete, and will be up before the end of the year if the server reappears. Not only that, but the script for part 8 is done. But it won't be the only thing coming.

In the meantime, following me on Twitter is a good way to know what I'm up to: I'm @nightlightguy

And my other website, where I repost my journalism efforts is Matt Smith's End of the Spectrum. When you see how busy I am there, cut me a bit of slack. ;)

  4. Nightlight was down for a while there as well. And now it seems to be denying that there was ever a 'Power of Monkey Island, Part 6'. Strange.

Heck, the file isn't even there any more. I didn't imagine the entire thing, did I?

  5. Hmmm... how does that work? You get a download code for the platform of your choice? If you buy the 'physical copy' option, do you get a physical mac version?

This is the flaw of kickstarter - it's a 'throw everything at the wall and see what sells' option.

Of course, I'm just jealous because I'm in Australia and they won't let me post my campaign. :)

  6. As much as I love the Leisure Suit Larry franchise, I'm bound to the mac. Since, at the moment, they're only developing PC, that counts me out of the kickstart pledge.

It worries me a bit as well that what, eight months since the announcement, they finally decide to put it on kickstarter... and they've still only got the one room to show for it.

  7. I liked it, but I'll have to watch it again before I see part 2. As much as I love those throwaway lines, it's a shame that we don't get to see those potential storylines at some point!

  8. Wow ... I was prepared to write this off as just another well-intentioned but ultimately lame act of fan-fiction. Whoops! To my delight, it actually sounds more or less like Sam & Max -- not just the voices, but the tone and humor! If Purcell gave his blessing here, I can see why! Great job. I'll be paying attention to see how it turns out.

Write off a Nightlight production? Clearly you've never heard of the website. :eyemouth:
