  1. Shh, quiet or you'll appear old. Yes, anyone who remembers Star Wars: A New Hope, will remember that they wore Stormtrooper uniforms.
  2. I can't do anything, nor can anyone, until I can see the format BioWare uses for their files. The dot and letters after the file will determine what program I need to use. The user interface isn't the only modding that we can do. For example, the first thing I need to know is if the lightsaber model in The Old Republic works the same way it did in the Kotor games. I have seen the lightsabers dead on in earlier game footage, and I noticed the asterisk shape they developed for the original Knights of the Old Republic. If this indeed turns out to be the case, I will be able to use my old textures as a test. I can always redo the textures in .dds format if that is required.
  3. By then, there won't be any. It's like when the Xbox 360 or the PS3 came out, and there weren't any on the shelves for months. They were back-ordered so badly from all the pre-orders.
  4. Fame and recognition will go to the one that does.
  5. I don't expect them to give us a tool for it. The modding community has made two very good tools, I use all the time. This forum has the kotortool. The other forum has the SWG modding tool. Both programs were written by fellow modders.
  6. They may have said that about SWG, too, but we've been making client-side mods for that game for years. Most of them are of the make a sword into a lightsaber, or change the appearance of my clothing, or adding a new texture file. I've messed with the lightsaber palette and textures, myself. Another has redone the space game with newer textures, sounds, and user-interface changes. <--- None of these modifications affect gameplay or the integrity of the game. In fact, only the person using the mod can see it, anyway, and in the past they only helped promote sales of the product not detract. My point, is I hope they let us do that much with it.
  7. Ironically, all or most of these were included in Star Wars Galaxies.
  8. Now that pre-orders have gone live, it is time to think and ponder our own involvement in this game. All Kotor and TSL modders unite and converge upon the ulitmate challenge, to modify the The Old Republic with client side mods is a must. Star Wars: The Old Republic appears to be using a similar game engine to that of either Star Wars Galaxies. As as nice result, most of us should be able to modify this game to our hearts content. What do you think?
  9. [quote] Dear Star Wars Galaxies™ Community Member, We write to you today to inform you that on December 15, 2011, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) and LucasArts will end all services (MMO and Trading Card Game) for Star Wars Galaxies (SWG). The shutdown of SWG is a very difficult decision, but SOE and LucasArts have mutually agreed that the end of 2011 is the appropriate time to end the game. We are extremely grateful to all of the SWG fans. We have had the rare opportunity to host one of the most dedicated and passionate online gaming communities and we truly appreciate the support we've received from each and every one of you over the course of the past eight years. In recognition of your incredible loyalty, we are extending special Fan Appreciation offers to the current SWG community. We also plan to go out with a bang with a galaxy-ending in-game event in December and hope to see you all there. The details relating to these offers and events as well as the timeline and specifics regarding the discontinuation of the service, are provided below. Again, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our player community for making SWG one of the best online communities in gaming history. Sincerely, Sony Online Entertainment & LucasArts The Fine Details: Discontinuation of Services: As of September 15, 2011, the SWG MMO and Trading Card Game will no longer be available for sale or subscription at both retail and all online digital retailers. All billing for active subscribers with accounts in good standing, except for Station Access subscribers, will end on October 15, 2011. If you are an active subscriber in good standing as of September 15, 2011, then you can play for free for the final months. Players wishing to play through the end of the game and participate in the galaxy-ending event planned for the last week of live service in December will need to re-activate or join the game on or before September 15th. No new or reactivated accounts will be accepted after September 15, 2011. As of today, June 24, 2011, we are discontinuing the 12, 6, and 3-month subscription plans, meaning these subscription options will no longer be offered for newly created SWG accounts. SWG subscribers who have prepaid six (6) or twelve (12)-month game time plans that extend their subscription period past October 15, 2011 will receive a pro-rated refund for any such pre-paid excess subscription payments*. Such refunds are expected to be issued within 90-days after the game ends. In addition, we will be discontinuing the sale of all Star Wars Galaxies™ Trading Card Game (TCG) digital card packs as of today, June 24, 2011. Loot cards will not be redeemable in the SWG MMO after September 15, 2011. The TCG will continue to operate until the final service closure on December 15, 2011. Galaxy-Ending Event – Be Part of this Historic Event During the last week that SWG is available, we're inviting the community to participate in a galaxy-ending event. We're going to end with a bang and we want the final chapter of the galaxy to be written in part by the dedicated and passionate SWG community. Details will be announced at a later date. Fan Appreciation Offers We welcome those active SWG subscribers in good standing to play one or all of the below SOE massively-multiplayer online PC games at a fully-paid subscriber status (or “membership” status where relevant) at no cost between October 15, 2011 and December 31, 2011 (subject to the terms and conditions described below). We are offering the following SOE games: Free Realms®, Star Wars®: Clone Wars Adventures™, EverQuest®, EverQuest® II and DC Universe™ Online. The game software will all be made available for download on a link accessible from the StarWarsGalaxies.com web site beginning on October 15, 2011. [/quote] I've already had one death this year, and now, I'm being informed of another one to come. It doesn't matter that this was, just, a video game. The grieving process will be the same. Although I did not start playing this game until September 20th, 2005, I've continued to play it since then, nonstop. I've made many friends on two main servers Kauri and Chilastra, plus all of you from ModSource. I, sincerely, hoped that this game would run alongside The Old Republic as was their original intention. But alas, that will not be the case. I, hope, you all pick up your old subscriptions and play this until the last day When it is finally gone, you will mourn, mark my words.
  10. Bingo! You hit the nail on the head, but also as the article points out the plot is different, too. The Old Republic has a storyline that will engulf most of your gameplay. Star Wars Galaxies has a "storyline" called Legacy that ends at level 55, now with the new missions on Corellia, but after that. You're on your own. The game turns into a "What do you feel like doing today?" game. The Old Republic is much more serious in the Role-playing area, and thus may turn some people off.
  11. I can't wait the for eleven season show about CASH doctors in Iraq.
  12. 1) Yes, they're celebrating their 7th year as a game with the Empire/Remembrance Day gifts. 2) Free for the first month after purchasing the Online Adventures, then 14.99/ mo after that, but it gets cheaper the more you pay upfront. 3) Yes, the whole reason they unplugged a number of the servers was to add more people to the popular servers. I play on Chilastra under the name -RustyGym- Locker if you would like an in-game tour. The trial is free, but you are extremely limited in what you can do.
  13. If anyone, actually, takes him up on his "offer", they are more ignorant that George W. Bush in an engineering calculus class. Anyway, we seem to be going around in circles on this thread, maybe we should all take a break and go back to modifying seven year-old games.
  14. Excuse me, you're right, but in Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed they are labeled as shield towers. That is not a reliable source, though. Plus, the line in the movie right afterwards is Imperial Officer to Admiral Piett: "Sir, we've lost our Bridge Deflector Shields!"
  15. Agreed, when you get pulled over, the officer should ask for your name, license, registration, proof of insurance (AZ at least), by simply having the license in AZ, you are here legally. As long as you have those three in your car the rest becomes routine.
  16. My response is here: (This BBCode requires its accompanying plugin to work properly.) One A-wing takes out the shield tower, another crashes into the bridge, and bam, she's done. What a weakness!
  17. ICE can't do it alone, that's why they need the help of local law enforcement to really put a dent in this, once the illegal is in custody he can be extradited to ICE, so they can do the rest.
  18. Haha, an A-wing took down the Executor by crashing into the bridge after the shield generators were destroyed, but the ship would destroy any ship of capital size.
  19. I agree, it especially helps when I run into spurts when I don't play as much as I used to.
  20. The drug cartels have their own problems, right now, thankfully, due to Mexico's own war against them.
  21. Okay, for the record, I completely agree with SB-1070. I live in Phoenix, AZ and see the problem every day. Arizona is on the front line in the Drug War and the cartels love our state because of the flat fenceless land border that can be easily crossed on their way to the nearest border towns and cities. Former News Talk 92.3 KTAR talk show host Darrell Ankarlo actually walked across the border from Mexico with everybody listening. http://www.onenewsnow.com/Security/Default.aspx?id=152490
  22. Cool! I will do so!
