  1. That built seems right on the money to be fair, though I don't know if i'd really want to go Micro ATX on my first build. I think i'd sooner have the extra space in the case to move around and have things just that little bit bigger first time around just to get the hang of things. Doesn't take much to configure with a new case and mobo though I guess, so i'll have a fiddle around on that site you suggested and see what I can come up with. How well would this machine be likely to run SWTOR? Would I get my Ultra graphics, d'you think? It'd be nice to be able to play some other games on high too if I decide to at some point, but SWTOR is the main focus atm.
  2. I'll definitely have a poke around that site later when I get home and see what I can come up with. Thanking you, good sir!
  3. I've been having a think recently and I've decided is really like to get into playing TOR again and actually give it a proper go, this time. I did play for a while just after it was released, but I didn't really stick with it and as I'd never played an MMO before, I didn't really know what I was doing, so I gave up. Now I've decided I'd like to give it a proper try, since all the new expansions and changes to the game since I played last look really interesting. Obviously I need a PC to be able to play the game. My current machine is a 2008 iMac which still works flawlessly for general day to day use, but as you can imagine, it runs games about as well as I run marathons, which is abysmally. I've never built a computer in my life and I think I'd like to have a crack at building my own to play the game on. I'm hoping to play the game on the highest possible graphical settings, which considering the game is a few years old, I don't think is too unrealistic a goal. I'm not looking to spend a vast amount, but I do realise you get what you pay for. I don't play a lot of PC games as a general rule, so I don't need anything too ridiculous to enable me to play CURRENT games on Ultra though, the main point is to get the best experience out of TOR that I possibly can. I'll give a maximum budget of £700 - £800 to work with, but obviously I'd be thrilled to part with even less £££ if I can! Anyone got any suggestions?
  4. Weeeeell, I'm around in some shape, yeah! Came back to help with the new site to be honest, then had some family stuff happen which stopped me doing that.. All good now, though! :)

    How's tricks? :)

  5. I'm still more than happy to help out with the new JKNet site as I was before the project stalled. The reason I stopped working on it before was much the same as yours Lynk, I started a new job and free time just dried up as I was getting settled into it. That and starting a new relationship just kinda dominated my free time. Things have calmed down a lot since and I have a lot more free time now, so if there's any plan to try again with the new site, I'm definitely on board. Same goes for helping out on the forum this time too, if need be.
  6. Read and write, same as with guns. ^_^

  7. If you followed that tutorial, i'm assuming you used the replacer in MDLOps, which you don't need to do with gun models, only lightsabers. A plain read and write should suffice. ^_^

  8. Cheers, I can't believe I waited this long to play it! Might try a Jedi Knight/Consular next!
  9. Finally gotten into ToR, so guild me up! Character Name: Orlax Class: Bounty Hunter/Mercenary Role: DPS Skills: Armstech/Scavenging/Underworld Trading
  10. That mod is completely unrelated. It's basically a tweak that increases the amount of experience you need to level up your character. Increasing the actual level cap is impossible to do with modding.
  11. You should find what you're looking for in either one of these threads, depending on the method you choose to follow: http://lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=185199 or http://lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=143536
  12. Happy Birthday, good sir! Not doing too badly for 900 odd years in the universe!
  13. You're not on your own, there! Much as i'd love to be proved wrong, i've got this niggling feeling that the new movies are going to be utter arse gravy... Only time will tell, I guess!
  14. If anyone else feels interested enough to get involved in this idea too, I know i'd definitely be up for giving it a shot. Only issue is, i'd be fairly limited as far as 'older' games are concerned, as I can't seem to run any 'old' Star Wars games other than Rebel Assault II, these days. As far as newer games go though, I have a PS3 and a HD PVR. I'm good to go. I actually just got into LP'ing somewhat on YouTube, so I have a basic grasp on how to edit one together and whatnot, as far as adding commentary and game footage and syncing them up are concerned. Really looking forward to seeing the site design, though. I think once the design has been seen by a few people, more ideas might start flowing, as there'll be more of an idea of what we're working with. Definitely liking the sound of this so far, though!
  15. On the topic of podcasts, I think a 'podcast-esque thing' related to the topic of this 'new and improved' LFN might be a good idea, where the current ideas/plans could be discussed and then have it posted like LucasCast used to be, so that everyone can be 'on the same page', so to speak. Just because I know some people might have difficulty getting to grips with the whole concept if its just in a written format like this thread, with different things spread out across multiple posts and eventually multiple pages. Plus I think it would present an image of progress being made and probably inspire a little community spirit, as it's something everyone could listen to and discuss. I have a feeling that I may have explained myself appallingly there... Just an idea, though. As for the Let's Play idea, I definitely like the sound of that. There are a LOT of games that have the potential to make for very entertaining footage. Really hope that idea goes somewhere.
  16. Never got to play any Rogue Squadron games after the original, sadly. Never owned a GameCube. Dark Forces and Dark Forces 2, though.. Wow. What a series!
  17. The Network sites seem to have become very much 'secondary' in the eyes of a lot of LF members in recent years, I think. The way I see it, the forums grew to be such a massive part of the 'LFN experience' (it is where the majority of the community is based, after all) that the sites seemed to just fade into the background and fell into disrepair. As far as i'm aware, a lot of new members come to the forums without even knowing that the Sites exist, which is sad, because there's a lot of really useful and interesting content. Focussing on the new site first and then looking at the forums afterwards is definitely the way to go, I think. Just saying. >_<
  18. The last Windows machine I had refused to run it, sadly. Tried everything from Windows '98 in a VM to emulation, and not a sausage. I was well gutted. Might have to grab an old 'beige monstrosity' with Windows '98 on it from one of the computer shops in town, some of the stuff they have in there could almost be called archaic. Well worth spending £10 if I can play The Phantom Menace again! To my shame, i'd forgotten it. Memory failing in my old age, that is!
  19. Oh good GOD, yes! I played The Phantom Menace on both PC and the original PlayStation and enjoyed both (virtually identical) experiences immensely. I remember spending DAYS trying to kill the Droideka's during the first mission, only to discover that you were in fact supposed to flee. Woops! The Mos Espa mission on Tatooine was (and remains) my overall favourite though. Cheers for the nostalgia hit, Doc!
  20. This is a tough one, i've played so many Star Wars games over the years, with so many different styles of gameplay, it's really hard to pick a favourite. It's between the original Rogue Squadron and Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire for me, though. I spent an absolutely ludicrous amount of time playing both of them in my younger years and still play Rebel Assault from time to time now. Can't run Rogue Squadron anymore, sadly.
  21. He was a unique kind of person, who I always got along with.. Definitely a sad loss.. He was a good bloke. ^_^
  22. It's normal to have a bit of difficulty at first, but it does get a lot easier fairly quickly, provided you put the effort in. The two main issues as you say are clutch control and awareness of the size of the car you're driving. Clutch control comes with practice. No easy way about it unfortunately. As for getting used to the size of the car, just make sure you're keeping an eye on what you're doing and remember that your mirrors are there for a reason.
  23. N'aww, cheers, guys! Another year closer to the grave, eh? >_<
  24. Christ, people still use that thing? I'll have to make a new updates version, I think. I was never too happy with that original one.
