  1. Hey, Avery, don't pay too much attention to Reuben Shan. He's being a close-minded fool. I can't help but wonder what people would be like if they lived in different places?

Anyway, hopefully he won't be a jerk for much longer (meaning that he either looks at a second point of view or decides to head to a different section of the forum), but I seriously doubt that.

  2. Well, I should imagine that Sabre is a very good Beta! He is Sabre, after all. o_Q As for writing frenzied, caps lock isn't a very professional look, at times. 'Bolding' your words works much better. :p

America's a giant bureaucracy. It takes forever for things to get started, and once they do, not a lot always gets done.

Label my segments? Well, I try to keep a pretty good distinction between my two characters, so I'll keep their paths separate (until they crash into each other, that is :xp:).

I iz sorry that you bee [/cheezy pun] schozzled! Sleep well. Zaijian!

  3. Don't worry about the characters- I only understood about half of them, anyway. XD

Being verbose isn't bad, it's just in this matter you want to keep the reader in by writing lots of action. May I suggest writing in a frenzied manner, maybe using lots of commas, and illustrating all of the thoughts going through the person's head?

Education in our countries seem pretty bad. What could we do to change it, though? I'm pessimistic at times. :(

More specifically, it's the Second Battle of Dxun, when the Republic invaded the Mandalorians. I'm going to attempt to intertwine two characters, and see if I can to it correctly. Do you have any ideas?

  4. No, I don't have school today, but I forgot to turn off the alarm. XD So I smashed it and went back to sleep. :p

Action scenes, as in bar fights or lightsaber duels? I'd try to capture the emotions in one's head at that time, as well as some complex moves/tactics.

How do they teach us? Well, I'm lucky to be in one of the best schools in the state (for public education), so I've got a bunch of motivated teachers. However, at the end of the year, our 'progress' is measured by our test scores, and the school rewards those that 'improved' the most. What's backwards, though, is that you could be the best simply because you 'improved' for 66% to 99%. However, you've left yourself no room for improvement.

The problem with that is that schools are awarded part of their funding based on improvement in test scores. Therefore, if you've got a bunch of high achievers that get 97% as the average for one year, you've left nearly no room for improvement.

    How is education in Malaysia?

As for the Cantina, I'll give you a hint as to what I'm working on: Dxun. Think of it what you will.

    Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! 你好马?

  5. Harassing people! Fun stuff, Bee! Ahh, the joys of life. :p

What was it about? I think it was Xian, the first emperor, and terracotta warriors.

Why do I wake up so early? Skewl, Bee, Skewl! It's terrible here, and they use inefficient methods to teach us! If it weren't for books, the Internetz, and wanting to learn, I'd be in the pits!

How go your stories for the CEC? I've just re-started by Cantina entry. Finally, I get some free time to write!

  6. It's hungry. :p

In class, we were listening to a Chinese video. The narrator spoke so fast, it sounded insane. I picked up bits here and there, but it's pretty unknown to me. *shrugs*

Nononono, my alarm clock be not cute. It makes loud cried and I must smash it to make it shut up (hey, it's hard to find the reset button when the sun isn't even up yet!).

    Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Hai.

  7. Sheeple are very common over here, I assure you! And most aren't that cute. :xp:

They put 儿 after most sentences? I thought that it was just added in certain sentences, like 尔 zhu zai 哪儿 (sorry, I couldn't find a very good translator to get the characters >_<)? That'd be pretty annoying if you were trying to understand... well, anything!

I did go sleeps! Then I smashed my alarm when it went off, and slept for an extra hour! And now I am writing on your profile! :p

How goes Bee's life? Absolutely delicious, I hope? o_Q

  8. The four great beauties? I don't recall their names, and I can't say I remember any facts for sure, but I believe that they were oriented with nature? I read about them over the summer, but my mind's melted a bit. :p Would you care to refresh my memory, or should I just Wiki it?

The words for America? Meiguo? Beautiful country? I prefer to look at the word "mei"'s radical: sheep. I like to say that "The Chinese had it right, calling us sheeple." (Sheeple meaning "sheep people," or people who follow anything their leaders do.

As for the tones, I'm alright with some, but stink with others.

Bee has good day so far? It's around 1:00 PM, right? I've got some friends in Australia, and I checked: depending on where you live in Malaysia, you're around there, if I'm correct.

  9. I'm taking Chinese in school, and I went to a camp that taught it over the summer, so I've got a basic understanding of the language (I can say a few simple phrases and cobble together a few words).

    America = 美国

China's history is incredibly long: it's one of the longest lasting civilizations on the planet. It'd take quite a while to learn all of it. As for Japan, I think that China's more interesting. Indeed, Wiki to the rescue! What would we do without Wikipedia? :p

  10. Bee!: ni zhu zai malaysia! Now, I've got to go find a Chinese-character-maker. :p Does Bee speak Chinese?

  11. Pshh. When the book says "East Asian Empires" they really mean Ancient China, Japan, and India. Even the book's Islamic chapter didn't mention Malaysia (though, it did show a map of the spread of Islam, and Malaysia was mentioned!). It really bothers me that the teacher suddenly decided to take this approach to learn, but I already voiced my opposition to him and he blew it off.

Enjoy Max Payne! May you achieve victory through many levels, and defeat your enemies with a quick trigger/key tap. :p

As for me, my school is out today for the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, so I get to sit here and work/procrastinate by surfing LF.

    Also, a picture for Bee:

    Bumblebee.jpg

  12. By His Imperial Majesty, I mean none other than Sir Devon! o_Q His Emperorness shall bring much destruction and tyranny joy and happiness across the land.

As for Mach's stuff, you're right: he's awesome. The Expert Thread, in particular, has been really helpful in finding some good information. I've also read Mach's Mandalorian thread. It was nice to see a different opinion other than "Mandalorians= killing machines with no brains." :p

Now, to finish this pesky history homework (I've got to read three chapters on East Asian empires, take twelve pages of noted [six pages front and back], and have it all done by tomorrow. Yay), and then I can finally continue writing.

    Bee is doing well?

  13. I'd either tell your friends not to sit next to you, or prepare to get even with one of 'em. :xp:

  14. I hope Texas creams your neighbors to the north! Drinking beer and eating corn dogs at a fair? And you think that you'll be depressed? :xp:

I'm doing well, thanks. Wishing I had another three-day-weekend. :p

  15. "Get us all to agree with each other on something and unite against a common enemy."

I thought that was the point of Garfield? :p How goes your life, mimartin? Fair or above, I hope.

  16. I'm sure it's the last thing that you want to hear right now, Inyri, but I'm sorry. Don't worry, though! You'll find something soon enough. Just stay positive, and you'll be fine. :)

  17. Devanagri? By any chance, does His Imperial Majesty have anything to do with this? o_Q

Thanks for the tip. I've got my basic idea, but I'm looking over the threads in the Resource Center to keep my facts correct. There's a bunch of good information in there, if you know where to look. ;)

  18. I predict a massive schism between the lefties and the righties. In other words, it's an all-out war between Garfield and everyone else. :p

  19. Hail, Moff Tarkin! Your Imperial Majesty, bow down to the mighty American that has saved your country! [/sarcasm]

Thanks for the add, SW. Hopefully Kavar's will calm down soon.

  20. Bee, what's your new title say? It looks like a sanskrit/Arabic-type language.

My idea came to me during... I think it was Social Studies homework (yeah, ideas come when I'm doing work :p) It occurred to me to have someone breaking their morals- and what better place then in war? And then, remembering that it'd be boring reading only one story, I've decided to do two point of views, each intertwined. If I do this correctly, it should work out nicely.

As for your story, I hope it goes well! I'm more than happy to help you in any way that I can. Take things slow, think about the plot as a whole, and move on from there. If you're dedicated to finishing it, I've got no doubt that you will. ;)

  21. I seriously dobt we'll get anything accomplished, but we won't know without trying. *dons headache medicine* Prepare for battle. :p

  22. Pretty neat stuff. Imagine the scientist in the past few centuries observing these small, infinitesimal creatures. It must've blown their minds.

  23. Microbiology? That's really cool! What got you interested in that field in the first place?*

*Yes, I'm an inquisitive person by nature. :p

  24. Ooh! A job interview! I wish you good tidings for said interview. May you destroy the competition, and come out on top.

What is the interview for, if I may ask?

As for the left-wing extremists, they've recently decided to vacate Kavar's, leaving us to fend for ourselves. We must rally reason and logic to our cause, and defeat these neo-right-wing-extremists. :p

  25. Thank you for the add, kind sir! Together, we must drive from Kavar's the being known Garfield. Only with logic and reason can we hope to achieve victory!

...or be subjected to more USA-savior and Fox News theories. :xp:
