  1. Ah Shem, you're a bad, bad man... Still, I can't blame you fo having fun with the YouTubers. I imagine legions of Revan fanboys running arround Lethon for hours on end trying to find your merchant!
  2. I'd say it'd be extremely likely that many, at least, would be from eastern Northern Ireland. Not many will pick Irish, Scotch-Irish means...little...and there is not a Northern Irish option.
  3. Hope all of my American friends are having a good day! Same to those who are not my American friends, but still Americans. Just slightly less so. I suppose.
  4. I don't really see the problem with restricting their sale to 18s and up. It's the norm here with the likes of Grand Theft Auto, CoD: MW2, Saint's Row/2, Dragon Age. If nothing else its an excellent argument for game developers when someone complains about their content being aimed at kids. And the effect is more or less the same; parents can buy the product for their kids if they want, but if the vendor sells it to an under-age person there are legal penalties under the Video Recordings Act, where there can be a fine up to £5k or allowance for 6 months imprisonment. It doesn't seem to kick up a huge amount of fuss
  5. "New Message: Shepard, Thanks for destroying that base. I REALLY wanted that. You suck, you know that? Never talking to you again. T.I.M." Okay I doubt they'd do that, but still... I wonder how 'temporary' is 'temporary'? I do hope it's long enough for some decent interaction with once-major characters and not (unless its done well) single missions for ALL.
  6. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-13838347 Looks like someone somewhere took something the wrong way...
  7. Aw damn... RIP Randall Mario 'Macho Man Randy Savage' Poffo
  8. YES! One of my absolute all-time favourite franchises back! I do hope they carry on where Blood Money left off this time, unlike the way it was done between Silent Assassin and Contracts (though very much like the lead in from the latter to Blood Money itself). I've been waiting for some official word for ages - thanks for posting Parametric. Will have a reason to watch news out of E3 now - I'd like to see the weapon customisation kept on and a wee bit of graphical development from the last one.
  9. Just played the demo today. While I didn't find it uttery horrible and thus will not be canceling the preorder (certainly looks worth £25 ) just something makes it feel fundmentally different to Origins, I'm not quite sure what. Like others, I wasn't mad on the Mass Effect 1/Awakenings style interaction. Fair enough it was only a very short demo and may have been added to keep major elements out (wouldn't bet on it of course), but it sent the wrong message. Darkspawn textures awful, Lothering simply bizarre, everything else alright on the available settings, near as I could reasonably see at breakneck speed. And damn their 'Spartan' (Halo or 300 certainly...neither of which is meant as a compliment) fighting style, I paused dozens of times, most often during Did anyone else find the second stage scenario exceptionally easy? With upgraded weaponry (assuming) by that point, a higher setting may be needed... Short: not bad, not so far better than Origins, but playable.
  10. I'm thinking of trying a mage the first time out, seeing that seems to be what is heavily hinted at in the trailers (and I played everything but Mage quite frequently last time). I haven;t played the demo yet - might on Sunday (there's no way in hell my connection could withstand a 2GB download at any thime of the day or night). After that maybe a rogue. Honestly I'm surprised the download number has continued to go up - I honestly thought after Tuesday's 400000 odd that'd be the biggest proportion. But I suppose the XBox silver thingy people still haven't got it yet...
  11. 'And Origins fans can go hang' seems the logical conclusion to that sentence...
  12. Much as I would like to play this game, and was looking forward to seeing Rome rendered for AC, I won't be buying for any platform while that permanent Internet nonsense remains in place.
  13. You Are A: Lawful Good Human Monk (3rd Level) Ability Scores: Strength- 14 Dexterity- 14 Constitution- 13 Intelligence- 16 Wisdom- 18 Charisma- 14 Alignment: Lawful Good- A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment because it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest. Race: Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like. Class: Monks- Monks are versatile warriors skilled at fighting without weapons or armor. Good-aligned monks serve as protectors of the people, while evil monks make ideal spies and assassins. Though they don't cast spells, monks channel a subtle energy, called ki. This energy allows them to perform amazing feats, such as healing themselves, catching arrows in flight, and dodging blows with lightning speed. Their mundane and ki-based abilities grow with experience, granting them more power over themselves and their environment. Monks suffer unique penalties to their abilities if they wear armor, as doing so violates their rigid oath. A monk wearing armor loses their Wisdom and level based armor class bonuses, their movement speed, and their additional unarmed attacks per round. 14. To all those servicepeople who gave their lives over generations, we honour you. To all those who have lost family members to war, you are in our thoughts. To those who have served and who serve today, no matter what may be thought of the politics behind the war you fight, you are held in the highest regard. We will remember you. I wear my poppy proudly, and remember as well in my own family what I have been told of the experiences of my great-great uncle, who fought and was wounded and taken POW in the Great War, my great-grandfather who was a Royal Marine in the same, and other relatives who served in the Army, in the Royal Navy, and in the Merchant Navy in the Great War and the Second World War.
  15. Rockstar + someone who looks like a gangster is generally enough to get me interested, but any more info on what it's about?
  16. o yea DA needz moar ossum lol I've never been able to figure out that logic; it's best-selling, RPG and Game of the Year in places, but it needs to be more like the other one? So basically, they expect that everyone who bought 1 will buy 2, plus they can get the ME-only crowd on board? As I've said a few times before, I like Mass Effect. I loved Dragon Age Origins. At no point did I think 'Hmmm all this walking around is boring, I wish it just jumped straight to the fighting' (the awesome?) I did, on the other hand, want time and time again to be able to equip combat armour on the ME2 companions... Whether or not to pre-order this thing is requiring more thought and consideration than is decent. I wonder how it's going to do alongside Witcher 2, out in the same month?
  17. Not in our legal system it isn't. An Act of Parliament is supreme law. It cannot be overruled, save by another Act. No court can or could amend it. Our old Law Lords at one point stated very clearly (Thoburn case, iirc) that Britain has a series of 'constitutional Acts' which act as a 'Constitution', being Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights (as Pavlos linked), and newer legislation like the European Communities Act, the Human Rights Act, and the Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Government of Wales Acts of 1998 (and all the subsequent amendments to the NI Act...) Therefore, Pavlos wins.
  18. I just recently finished reading Nineteen Eighty-Four. It, oddly, was refreshingly bleak after the typically heroic endings to the Patrick O'Brian novels I had been reading before. Now I'm trying to trudge through Blair's A Journey, bought for me on my birthday as a joke by my grandparents. What I love about it so far are the repeated cries of his having no experience in government and being intimidated by actually having to run the country after winning the 1997 election. I'm about 60 pages through and already losing the will to go on, and from what I've heard the bit on Northern Ireland will see it launched from the bedroom window, so we'll see whether or not it'll get finished.
  19. I ate an drank (soft drinks only), but saw very little of merriment, I'm afraid. We only had, I believe, three Hallowe'en rhymers all week. Not many fireworks heard either. Just another Sunday evening.
  20. There's an option just for that: Try going (from the main screen) to Setup > Options > Slow Motion Death, and toggle it until it reads 'never'. That should fix things for you!
  21. If it's going to have that awful Mass Effect 2 armour system, with very limited PC choices and no party-NPC choices, I think it would actually be quite a big problem for me. I like the option of the unique npc clothing and all that (as with Morrigan in DAO), but it shouldn't be at the expense of the customisation option that comes with the simple ability to equip armour and items. Hopefully, all of the above there is just an unfortunate misperception of the trailer. And I, at least, was very happy with DAO's graphics. I saw (and see) no problem with them that couldn't be solved with, perhaps, using a higher resolution on the textures. As I've said elsewhere in this thread, the 'new and unique graphical style' isn't anywhere near the list of draws to the game. Again, it's the potential impact on customisation, of faces this time, that worries me. The Mass Effect 2 example springs to mind - custom looked nowhere near the quality of the default, far less the standard of other things in the game. As for gameplay, the big thing concerning me (still) is the 'framed narrative' and 'cutting down on shoe leather'. Now, having recently played The Witcher I'm marginally less worried about how restrictive it is, but compared to DAO there is no denying that it is still rather restrictive. That may just be down to personal taste...
  22. That's not necessarily a bad thing... The game looks very interesting - even though I thought the first one was mildly lacking in some respects, great in others. Haven't played the second, as it isn't on PC, but this I might look at getting when it comes out for PC in December.
  23. That...actually seems quite appealing... I admit I thought the thread title was a joke at first, but this does look like a nice fresh take on the game - it all got a bit tedious during/after 2. I haven't bought a Sims game in a while (even 2 was played on my sister's computer), but maybe I'll have a look at this in March. Of course, realistic floor plans of Mediaeval Norman fortifications and Manor houses will be necessary. Just because.
