  1. If the jampconfig.cfg file is in your base directory, try deleting it and letting the game rebuild it.
  2. If you've got any custom pk3 files in the base directory, remove them and try running the game again. The error means that the path to the folder it is looking for a particular sound in is too long, I'm not sure what the character length is but the one it quotes is too long. And since that particular path is nowhere to be found in the the base game assetts pk3 files, it must be a custom one.
  3. I've just started playing this one too, and yes it is an awesome mod. Though it's kind of amusing in a couple of assumptions it makes. Firstly, it assumes that you completed the original game on the dark side (Erm, nope - but as it's part of the plot I'll forgive them) and that Jaden is male. (Erm, nope again - not in my game). So all the references to "him", "he's" etc do not fit my Jaden character (Twi'lek female). Looks like it's going to take me a while to complete it as well I did try playing the original version of Escape: Yavin 4 to begin with, but found it very frustrating in two ways. One was the confusing level design, where it wasn't always obvious what to do next and secondly, it managed to hard lock my computer several times in the space of one level. The new version has yet to do so.
  4. What the mod does, according to the readme is "the mod is designed to give UI, animation and feature enhancement to your client side game." Most servers run it (I think) as it adds many server administrator functions that aren't there in the base game. You'll be able to play just fine on unmodded servers, the mod only loads if you join a server that has it running. It will widen the amount of servers you're able to play on. Without it, you'll be able to see all the servers that have it running in the sever browser, you just won't be able to join the servers if you try.
  5. The protocol message simply means that the server is running a different version of the game to the one you have. Since there has only been the one patch, probably the server is unpatched. It could be mod related, but it's usually the base game *edit* I just checked, the patched game runs protocol 26.*edit* Also, if you're wanting to play Jedi Academy online, I'd also recommend downloading the Japlus mod. While it has it's critics, 90% (or so) of servers are running it and you won't be able to join the servers without it. You can get it from: http://www.japlus.net/ I went for as long as I could without it, but couldn't find anywhere to play.
  6. It is an odd engine. While the PC I'm running it on is overkill for such an old game and I get 85 fps with the engine, I've noticed that the instant I add any level of AA or AF the framerate drops to 30 fps. I can't quite figure that one out.
  7. JK uses its own Lucasarts in-house engine, called the Sith Engine IIRC. It does not use the quake engine (Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy do use the Quake 3 engine however). To see your FPS while ingame, press T and type "framerate" (without the quotation marks) and enter.
  8. Sounds like it is an Xbox menu. There is certainly no "extras" menu on my PC version.
  9. The problem is the Vanta is an old card. It was not specified if it was a TNT Vanta card or a TNT2 Vanta. If it's a TNT vanta, then you'll have to do some digging on the Nvidia site to find their driver archive, as they stopped supporting that card a couple of years ago. I think drivers around the 3x.xx or 4x.xx series was when they lasted supported the card in their drivers. If it's a TNT2 Vanta, then you can just download the latest drivers from Nvidia as they still support the TNT2 card, though probably not for much longer I suspect.

  11. It's been a while and I haven't got JK installed at the moment, but go to the mouse setup screen and click on the mouse x/y axis option. Once you have it selected then either select or de-select the x in the box under "Invert" (ie change it from whatever it is currently/by default). It took me a while to figure this one out too.
  12. Gainward. Their cards run (generally) 20% faster than the reference boards and they are easily overclocked. You can overclock their Ti200 cards up to Ti500 speeds with no problems.
  13. Nope, no problems here with XP. Have you tried using XP's built in firewall, rather than an extra one?
  14. No, it has never been banned. Stanley Kubrik withdrew it from circulation in the early 1970s, for reasons known only to him. (Though it is guessed that he wthdrew it because the film was linked to a couple of violent attacks at the time.) It was passed uncut for video/DVD release a couple of years back.
