  1. Hi,

    I have been following your project since few weeks now. That is a great initiative.

    My purpose is not to sell boxes, but creating a very small number of custom boxes kind of unique (Lucasarts boxes for which I am a fan).

    In my side, I have started working on a big box custom project, and have already tried Packly for printing a box.

    I am happy with Packly, but the format of the box they propose looks like an US version of big boxes (like Day of the Tentacle or Tie Fighter for instance) while I am more looking for format like MI1 or 2. Hope you see what I mean.

    So I would like to try another printer as alternative. I can see you know a printer in Spain. Would you mind sharing the website of this company?

    Thanks,

    Voss

      Hi Voss,

      Sorry didn't see your message. Where are you from ?

      I don't see a real differences between DoT and MI2 boxes, they are quite the same (23,3 x 18,4 x 4,1 cm) and I have taken the measures from my own boxes.

      I'm waiting for my Proof of Concept box from the Zak McKracken box from the spanish company and to let you know, you have to order a minimum of 100 boxes to get decent prices. (Mine cost...120 euros...)Hope i can't just get my money back from the few goodies I would sell and just tips from people)

      Below that number, it costs a lot.  So I don't know how many you are planning to create but 100 it's a lot :)

      I think the Spanish box will be better because the thickness is 2mm and I don't think Pack.ly offers that.
      What were your concerns about pack.ly ?  I'm planning to print few boxes to have a comparison between the 2.

      My goal is to have the whole package:

      * box

      * floppies with sitckers

      * manuals

      But as I used the front cover from Laserschwertz, I guess I need to negociate with him about selling boxes.

      But my goal is not to make money but just get back the money is spent and the prototype.  It's just for fun.

      Hi,
      I am from France.

      About the difference between the boxes, I meant that there are basically 2 different formats of boxes : Euro format and US format.
      Packly is proposing something very similar to the US format, meaning there is a setback inside the box (check the US format of DOTT, you will see what I mean).
      I would rather build European format, like common MI and MI2 boxes. That is why I am searching for an alternative to Packly...

      And to anwser your question, I only want to make 2 or 3 boxes. I want to make them for my brother and I only. An my goal is make boxes only. Not the full content.

      Thanks,

      US boxes, I mean these boxes have the folds on the upper and lower edges.

      Whereas Euro format had the sturdy, fully glued two-part edges.

      Hope I am clear :)
