Time to replay secret of monkey island while i wait 😂 joking but yeah i might be a bit overhyped.

So what time do they post monkey mondays? How many hours left? 😂 I get confused with time zones so unsure when it will drop

I may be wrong but knowing Ron I'm expecting risks to be taken with the story. I'm expecting something out there like Mi2 and Thimbleweed Park.

I got my fingers crossed for this. September is perfect for me as its a month before my first child is born and also my Birthday month. 😉

Hey i just saw someone on the adventure gamer forums say that Ron has confirmed that Return to Monkey Island is releasing next month. I cant find a tweet from Ron, has anybody seen anything?

Ah sorry if i offended with my 'improvement' comment. I only discovered Rex this year but I've become a fan of Rex's art and recently bought Knights and Bikes just because I found the art really cool. I admit I wasn't fond of the original fan art, but I mean no ill will to Rex and think he is a wonderful artist.

With the new gameplay I thought I'd check the Adventure Gamers forums to see if peoples opinions might soften on the art style. That was a mistake 😔 Every comment i read felt like it was going out of its way to be negative and on the hunt to find something to complain about. I understand people have different opinions but it just saddens me as i feel like people are determined to hate it. A new Monkey Island should be a celebration, its a rare treat. I feel like people are doing themselves a diservice.

I'm feeling confident that we will get a release date next month for either a late August or September release.

I also think i remember Rex referring to it as a sketch. I'm an artist and my sketches can be night and day compared to the final drawing. I often might rework stuff in the final. I imagine Ron also gave feedback on things to change or tweak (make Guybrush look older etc) But yeah if i drew something 10 years ago, I would definitley rework it as I'm not the same person or artist i was 10 years ago.

Its probably already been said but I do think these Monkey Mondays is a clear sign that the release date is around the corner. Wonder how long until one of the mondays is a release date/launch trailer or heck they just release the game on a Monkey Monday.

Don't forget that Ron was very open about wanting to do a 3rd Monkey Island game. It was only when it was offered to him that he went quiet. I'm guessing he's seeing if there is much interest and testing the waters before he pitches.

I mean to me it makes sense. The two series Ron wanted to buy back from Disney was Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion. I feel like maybe Thimbleweed Park was them accepting they won't get the license back and doing a spiritual successor. But now... theres a chance...

Ron just made a comment on twitter about being open to doing a Maniac Mansion remaster with David Fox. It would be fun to do a Maniac Mansion remaster that was the same story and setting but 50% new puzzles and maybe a new playable character. You in @DavidBFox ? I really hope this happens. That game is begging for a remake! Imagine a remake with all the benefits of Thimbleweed Park!!! Plus Maniac Mansion deserves some love too. P.s I'm glad Ron isn't turned off doing more Lucasarts related games after the backlash.

The release date is all I need. No more screenshots or trailers. Maybe 1 gameplay clip to see the new point and click system in action. Once I have a release date I'm going to be avoiding news and try to go into the game as blind as possible. It's funny before the trailer I felt STARVED! But that trailer... I can't believe its under 2 minutes long. Its so packed with cameos, throwbacks, exciting new moments that I felt like I had seen too much... I kinda wish Stan, Otis and Swordmaster were kept secret as a surprise in the game. Hell even the Loom guy is shown! I'm just hoping there are other returning characters we haven't seen. But man... it does worry me that they don't have a release date by now... what if this becomes a Tmnt Shredder's Revenge situation where they keep saying 2022 and eventually it gets delayed a year...

It does look really right like this. Its nice to have Ron's games together and the non-Ron trilogy underneath.

Were you on the fence with where the hell to put Return like i was? It starts after 2 so it makes sense to put the poster after 2. But its the 6th game and could have content set after Tales... Its not 3 and its not 6? What the heck is it 😂🤣 where does it go?

Just so you all know, its a very slow day at work 😂 @Vainamoinen yeah i feel like Return is similar to the special editions as they are trying to fill in the gaps of what those pixels in 1 and 2 would look like if made today. What i love about Return's art is that although it isn't pixalated it still keeps some of that mystery from 1 and 2. It leaves you to use your imagination and feel in the gaps.

It's sad but I'm going to go in with the mindset that this is Ron's last Lucasarts point and click style game. I was hoping this game might lead to his take on Maniac Mansion 3... but I don't blame him if he is done after the backlash... Ah well... I'm just happy to see the master return with Thimbleweed Park and Return.

Yeah, this confused me as I swear Ron said they decided to go for a different design. 🤔 I admit i didn't like the original sketch. But i think the tweaks really fix the stuff i found distracting (long neck, eyes too far apart and the box shaped head) I really love the design now. 😁
