  1. I agree that space retreats need fixed. The way it works now is completely useless. Give us movement control over our ships during the retreat at least.
  2. Totally sticky-worthy. I even learned a few things (like how to set your units facing and double-clicking for "ignore asteroids" movement and such.)
  3. I bought it, but I don't think it was worth it. The 5 maps are more of the same. The screensavers are extremely basic old school "After Dark" affairs. The one niceity is the concept art, however there isn't enough of it to justify the $10 extra. The lenticular slip cover is nothing special either. Empire At War: great game. Empire At War Collector's Edition: $10 too expensive.
  4. Doom3 and Quake 4 to name a few off the top of my head. DirectX does much, much more than video these days. Things like sound and input processing are often done through DX.
  5. Conversely, what's the point of owning the CE (for the maps) if you can't find anyone to play the maps with?
  6. Will you only be able to play against other CE owners on them? Or will they be playable in multiplayer as long as 1 person is a CE owner?
  7. It appears to me that the fog of war is lifted the first time a bombing run is available. Which kind of makes sense that you've got air units flying over head giving you an update on the whole battlefield?
  8. You can turn your lightsaber off in Jedi Outcast/Academy. You just press your lightsaber key again. As for being able to mod the game, I bet that's more a Lucasarts thing than a Bioware thing. I mean look at Neverwinter Nights.

  10. Well the JK2 Demo didn't even feature levels from the game, they were sorta thrown together afterwards to make a demo. What scares me is that these levels appear to be part of the actual final product. I guess it's just me, but I wasn't too impressed by the demo. If I could get it for around $30 I would pick it up, but this game certainly doesn't scream BUY ME! at the full retail price of $50. It's just too rough. Maybe I'll wait and see what the reviews say first then I'll decide.
  11. The JA Demo just seems sort of "meh" to me. It feels like it's lacking a level of polish that JK2 had. The voice acting is not as good as JK2. The saber combat seems to be more awkward -- I don't know if the range is shorter or the hit detection is different or what it is. I think they made the medium stance slower. Also, I'm not too fond of that little warping effect they added to Force Push/Pull. I was going to pre-order this game, but now I feel like waiting for reviews. My excitement level totally dropped about 5 notches for this game after I played the demo. What all do you guys think?
  12. In several places in the game textures are missing, such as the space background texture when looking outside of Desann's ship, or the mirrored wall in the final level of the yavin temple. I am using nVidia's 40.72 Detonator drivers and DirectX9 on WindowsXP Pro. I have a GeForce 3. Does anybody know what the problem is?
  13. Ever since I installed the patch some things (which I presume are sprites) will not show up. These things include: Force Lightning The Energy Beam where you fight Desann The Mouse Cursor Highlighting over enemies and Force pushable/pullable objects I re-installed Jedi Knight and am using the reccommended 23.11 drivers for my GeForce 3 card. Can anyone help?
  14. Certain elements of the game will not appear, for example: The cursor highlighting blue over special Force Pushable/Pullable objects. The huge invincibility beam where you fight Desann does not appear (but if you go through where it should be, you still get invincible). I haven't noticed anything else wrong yet, but I'm sure there's more. [Edit: Oh, and I am using the "approved" 23.11 drivers with my GeForce 3.]
