  1. What are you talking about? I do not use /reconnect. The way my ftp/http download part works is: 1) I hijack the connect command and dump it before it actually goes through 2) I then grab the server info of the server you just tried to connect to and get the x_urlget info var. 3) I check that url for a required.lst file which contains a list of files that need to be downloaded before we attempt to connect to the server. 4) After I get these files I issue a special connect command to connect to the server normally. At this point the server file check and everything is handled normally. Any maps added to the server need to be added to the required.lst file and uploaded to the webspace. Otherwise the server will send the files the old way. The bonus to this method is any server (xmod or not) can set the x_urlget cvar and any xmod clients connecting to their server can use the ftp/http download method.
  2. Yep, Xmod has always allowed http/ftp fast downloading of maps and assets without restarting the game.
  3. I plan on building curl directly into the application next release. It's annoying to have to have the dll in the game folder.
  4. XCTF will be returning. I will be including custom maps in the rotation since the xmod client can do http/ftp transfers. Any map suggestions?

  6. I have reopened the Xmod2 project and have big plans for the next version. Currently I need xmod2 server admins and players to help catch me up. The website is back up at: http://xmod2.cat5camp.com/ Please visit the bug tracker and register any bugs or feature requests for the project. If you don't know what Xmod is, everything you need to know is in the above URL.
  7. I'm taking out slap, sleep, trip from the next version. Those are pointless and abused the most... Kill and summon can still be used to get people out of map bugs or for abuse enjoyment if that's what it comes to. They arn't as anoying in my eyes.
  8. 2.8.x anything other then 0 is usually a non-released version of the mod that runs on my beta server. There is no way to test a mod without running it. You can do whatever you want in my mod. There is no such thing as removing EVERY abusive admin command as even chat can be abused.
  9. http://xmod2.cat5camp.com/server.php Been there awhile.. Some of the settings are unneeded, but it will do all the bithash stuff for ya.

  11. Newest xmod win32 contains an install package that will allow you to set up the server in dedicated mode (which you can connect to still).. You can also pick the mod from the menu and start a server that way.
  12. If you're getting alot of people saying that they keep seeing unknown command errors I released a patch that is available on the xmod website: http://xmod2.cat5camp.com

  14. This is a client mod that I am adding to the xmod client version 3. It fixes the following: 1) Server downloads can be off but http/ftp downloads can be on. 2) Http/ftp downloads is just a cvar set on the server that points to a url. At that url you place a file called required.lst which lists the pk3 files in that folder you want the client to download. This fixes unneeded downloads as you pick what they need. 3) Downloads will be way faster then 2k/sec. Same speeds as if you were downloading from a webpage/ftp server. 4) No added server lag for downloads as it is all handled client side and off a remote website/ftpsite. Not to mention the script detection and other features already a part of the xmod client. This version will also check for popular GL wallhacks/aimbots used by cheaters This will all be out in about a week when I get everything together and ready for the public.
  15. 6 hours of work fighting with evil pointers, threads, and memory issues and boom I have solved all of our probs. I even hijack the download screen so when you connect to servers you get pretty status. Very soon we will no longer have to search for maps to download on websites... *holds up a sign that reads "down with 2k/sec! Long live http/ftp transfers!"*
  16. You know what screws up the community more then any mod... The slow ass map downloads on ALL servers. You know who is fixing that and half the other crud that is making the game not playable... I know myself for one. You guys know anyone who is adding more crap to the pile we have to work with right now... yeah ok
  17. Just helping him out.. If someone asks about game features I'd be more then happy to refer them to the correct mod. Regardless if I made it or not.

  21. Xmod2 is still and always will be aimed at the competitive gameplay community. I'm just using a gun with a bigger shell when I try to lure other communities into the competitive one.
  22. mmmm, the darkside is strong in here Just to clear things up flame wars are dumb. So is attempting to change my mind about the admin commands just like I can't change yours. Keep in mind I'm done with the JA community as soon as doom3 or HL2 have an SDK for them. Until then you are stuck with me and my 4 crappy admin commands. Much Love, HeX
  23. FYI this is my last post related to this argument. It wouldn't matter if I took my argument and put it in our constitution to make it right... you would still fight it. Soooo, get over it and go see a movie.. I hear spiderman2 is good.
  24. I read about every other line of that one.. Alright, don't think it's related to gun control? How about we relate it to any linux box. Being admin since the begining of time means you have all power over the processes running on your box. JA is a process that is a bit more involved then say your friendly http server. I am simply including commands that admins can use on their guests. Note I said keyword: guests. If they are willing to supply the box and bandwidth then they should have the right to slap their guests around. It's their box, their money, their service. Don't like their service? Go elsewhere. Personally I don't mind the slap, trip, kill commands used upon me because it makes your victory all the more sweeter when the admin has a cow over your skills. Now where is the slap command for these forums?
