  1. *Odd, twinkly music plays.*

So, you have discovered 'The Slaver Weapon'? Interesting.

  2. Welcome back, svösh! It's really cool that you're around again. :D

  3. Sorry, I'm a little busy at the moment. And hoping for a relatively early night. :p

  4. caesar si viveret, ad remum dareris

  5. How comes you're no longer inhibited by ethics?

  6. In a word, no. But now that you have mentioned it, this must be attempted!

    I don't think it'll look very good, though. :p

  7. Welcome to Holowan! :)

  8. No, The Red-Headed League.

  9. What we think is chic, unique, and quite adorable, they think this odd and Soddom-and-Gomorrah-ble!

  10. I think a thread on that subject would devolve rapidly... a pity, but there you are.

I'll add it to the list. :)

  11. On 53 - I must disagree. The cross is not an argument, no. It is a statement - but the crucifixion narratives I would contend put forward an argument. The ins-and-outs of it can be debated till the cows come home, but its existence there is, I would say, undeniable - and the argument is, I think, both concluded and completed by the crucifixion itself.

As for 44 (going in the wrong order. :p ) - I think the problem is not so much with Christianity alone, but with the misunderstanding of, for example, morality as an objective thing, in the way, say, truth might be said to be a thing. I think it's a problem caused by an ignorance of meta-ethics.

And to 33 - well, most of the time Christ seems to have found the Apostles pretty wearisome. :D Perhaps you do need to live like Jesus in order to be at peace, but I suspect rather than acting like him, following his teaching is more likely to achieve that. In any case, do you really want a load of people running around performing their own interpretations of casting money-lenders out of temples and demons out of people? X_x

I'll have a look at those other paragraphs at some point.

  12. Oh, BLAST? It's the magazine of the Vorticist movement.

  13. Welcome back! It's good to have you around again. :)

  14. Section 33 - New way of life - This is a theology totally divorced from the Gospels, which speaks of some 'truer' form of Christ, I presume, which the Gospels 'twisted' (when taken in conjunction with 44...). I've seen this kind of ranting before... from the most aggressive and unpleasant of the non-denominational Christians...

Section 44 - Definition of morality (see the very last paragraph for the interesting part). Nietzsche doesn't like how Christians have tried to make their good a universal. - His analysis makes me wonder if we have read the same texts. It gives a distorted account not at all in alignment with the actual works, IMO...

Section 53 - All of this one is interesting. - I think he misses that if a word can be an act, so too can an act speak... Perhaps it's because the concept of 'speech-act' was yet to evolve, but still... If a picture is worth a thousand words, what can the right action say? After all, a picture is simply a frozen act, in some ways...

  15. Oh, oh, so I have problems now, do I! :p

And I have some reading for you, Sam: BLAST:

    First number

    War Number

  16. SAM, we're on the innerstade! Ya can't just ask me to hand over the steering-wheel! What'd the neighbours say?!

  17. But I can see the Internet, Sam, and so you.

My trip was... yes. :p We found many bits of bone and pot. And charcoal. Nothing very exciting I'm afraid. Other people handled the human bits.

Actually, so far you seem to be right on the Catholic stuffs, and most applause-worthy.

The Aquinas stuff was somewhat confusing with the constant references to 'she'... methinks someone was trying to use Aquinas for some reason his works were not designed for.

Also, I read some interesting stuff on the Five Ways on my stay: Brian Davies holds that they are designed to show that the statement "God exists" is true, rather than to prove the existence of God. What think ye?

I haven't read Screwtape, but I do have it on the list.

Have you seen TDK yet? I saw it on Friday and thought Heath Ledger was the win, myself.

    Auf wiedersehen!

  18. Is this a Dravis I see before me?!

  19. I'm digging, and don't have very much access to internet atm. Back on the 27th like a bad case of [CENSORED], though. :p

  20. Hey, SR.

If you get this, give a response. We're all a little concerned. : /
