  1. The engineer: One shot kill from a good range, quick fire and basically just look in the general direction to aim. Also, the lower the ping the stronger the engineer, low ping people are able to shoot from much further away. Can heal himself Can replenish ammo Can repair droids (so can ALWAYS heal and get ammo) and vehicles Can eject people from vehicles Can walk over mines Can get rid of mines Has a mine (detpack) that he can set off when *he* wants Has nades (detpacks) that he can set to go off when *he* wants Fix this guy please! He is meant to be support but while he is blatently Superman he will run around spoiling the game, turning into a game of who has the lowest ping.
  2. I can hit people bang on with a mortar or rocket and it does no damage, off to the side and it kills them - why wasnt this fixed.
  3. Erm...droideka fix? like anyone uses those. What about the collisions problem with mortars, nades, snipers. What about the engineer that has super hero 1 shot kill, can walk on mines, can heal himself etc. etc. He isnt toned down? This patch is a huge dissapointment.
  4. Empire is much strong than Clones. Dark trooper is devastating if used correctly. Mortars have a good blast radius and when combined with rage are nothing short of awesome in skilled hands. The chaingun isnt very effective against mortars - infact its worse than blasters which can kill most in 3 headshots. I know it wasnt asked, but overall rebels have the advantage on most maps. Even on Mos Eisley where empire have a huge speed advantage, wookies can shoot darkies out of the air with a small charge and although lacking speed somewhat, the rebels are just too powerfull. Get to evenly skilled clans fighting over mos eisley and rebels will win every time. Clones really do lack the punch of the empire due to no mortar (the only faction without such a thing). Jet Trooper is much weaker than the first game, the emp launcher is much slower meaning hitting a real player from the air is almost impossible (assuming they can play fairly well).
  5. Darth Andrew - I have the same concern, although for a big company such as them mastering and mass production can likely be done very quickly. This is a beta test after all - so I feel there is a window of opportunity, although I agree it is probably very small. Thank you for the pointer regarding the beta forums, I didn't know they existed. I have posted there also now.
  6. Not sure where else to post this - hoping the developers will see it. The most cheesy character from the original battlefront was the clone pilot - any one could use him, he was a no brainer that required no skill. Still, if you got close to him you could take him out easily taking none or a tiny amount of damage. However....give him a jet pack and take into the fact that when you have been hit you drop to your knees so loose any chance of aiming at him - you die...Just to top it off, if the dark trooper was fully charged - it takes him about a second before he can charge again...COME ON! The old clone pilot was silly - this is just daft! I would rather take on grevious with a feather..OK I wouldn't but you get my point. Yes the dark trooper has very little stamina (despite his visibly huge armour!) but he basically cant miss - even if you don't use the jet pack you can take people out from miles away. On Tantive IV the Dark Trooper is easy to dispatch - but then thats not his kind of board, he has a jetpack after all. Stick him on Utapau and he is almost invincible. I love the beta, I love all the new characters - but the Dark Trooper must be fixed, way over powered - he was perfect in the last game, just give him the engineers primary, increase his armour and there we go If the sparkie gun must stay then even just removing the fact that you drop to your knees when being hit by the darky would be something.

  8. Having a little dig around in the installed beta folder revealed the scripts for all the levels of the game still there. A couple of the "3 letter plus a number" names I could not fathom out so have left the code.   10. I like the idea infact. Although their will always be idiots, I think the fact you have to pay for the beta will only attract people with a real interest in the game. This will hopefully result in a more successful test and allow the developers to release a better version 1.
  11. Don't worry too much about the AI. Battlefront engine utilises shaders and is very much GPU bound - the CPU has hardly any work to do graphically. Missing skybox could be driver issues. I would suggest upgrading your drivers to the latest version, also ensure you are running DirectX 9.0c. Tips to increase speed: Crank down the FOV - field of vision (draw distance in other words) Turn texture quality to low (this will stop the card choking so much) Turn LOD (level of detail) to low Reduce the resolution Turn of Anti aliasing and Anistropic filtering if you have them on Buying a new gfx card is always a good idea if you can afford it - but turning down lod and fov and turning the texures down should give you a huge increase in speed.

  13. The beta is excellent. Rebels are not so underpowered as they are in the original. I was pleased to find even the rebels have a mortar guy now (the wookie). Those that loved the original and are still playing battefront (like me) will love it. The space level is terrible, I really don't see how they "asked the people that play it" when all clans steer well clear of any maps with vehicles / ships in it. Capture the flag really doesn't work as the boards are far to big for it to be playable. Still, the core of the game is amazing as ever and all the things I like are in there plus some. I was inititally concerned to loose my beloved imp/cis pilots but when i found out the magna / officer and wookie in effect replaced them i was over the moon. Rockets should have been given a big delay before firing to stop the noobs using them to kill infantry..but least it keeps the rocket guys happy i guess.
  14. Hi, I realise the date posted on the Battlefront II website, but wondering if the PC version follows the console version or all versions are out the same day. The beta looks and plays excellent (not sure why the space battles are there since most of the people who kept playing Battlefront - the clans, steered way clear of vehicles / ship maps) and I love the new characters and modes (the wookie having a mortar was a great suprise) but the GUI is extremely rough and I would guess would be replaced by a proper system - with 6 weeks to go, bugs to fix, not forgetting mastering, burning and distributing worldwide - is the PC version going to make it on time anyway? Also, with regards to the beta - is there a place to report bugs/glitches etc.
