  1. For those of you who plan to play or at least try out SWTOR when it is released eventually, will it be your first MMO experience, or have you played other MMOs in the past? If so, which MMOs?
  2. Why isn't BioWare and LucasArts pondering over whether this should be a console involved game (Xbox 360/PS3) or not? I mean, if they made this game for either/or, particularly Xbox 360, I think it would be one of the greatest (selling) games of all time. Not only would it be the first ever MMORPG for a console system, but it would be Star Wars, the most well-known sci-fi series, let alone entertaiment franchise in general, ever. With it being the first MMORPG game for a console system, it would draw even non-Star Wars (or more like what of them) and Star Wars fans alike. Just the fact its the first EVER MMORPG for a console system would guarantee sales. Isn't this what BioWare and LucasArts wants? Sales? So I can see no risk. It is a guarantee block buster either way, with console systems or without. But putting this on consoles would put this game in the record books. In all honestly it could beat Halo and all its selling records. I would say, putting this on consoles would be well worth it. I can already see about 30 of my friends (some just "known" people) would buy this for both of the above reasons. It being Star Wars. And It being the first MMORPG ever to be on a console system. LucasArts and BioWare could revolutionize games RIGHT NOW. What are your thoughts?
  3. LUCASARTS AND BIOWARE REVEAL STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC At long last confirmation of all the rumors!
  4. So yeah, I know that more than a few of us play GW nowadays, thus I say 'Let there be a GW thread!' Note: This is not to turn into a 'lol WoW/insert other MMO here is better' pissing contest, so don't even try to bring it here, plzkthnxbai. I've been playing since release in 2005, have all three campaigns plus Eye of the North and play all primary classes except for Mesmers. I'm really heavy into PvE, not so much PvP, cuz I like getting stomped on by level 33 monsters in Hard Mode more than getting stomped on by gosu Korean contract killers in PvP. I'm in an awesome PvE-oriented guild (with Jae!) and we have fun hanging around the guild hall and discussing the latest armor fashions (Norn armor is bringing fur back in style, oyea). My favorite characters are my Ranger and my Monk. I run a Splinter/Barrage build on my Ranger with Pain Inverter for bosses/eles and it makes things go boom. I run a straight Word of Healing build on my Monk, cuz teammates dying is bad, and I'm really loving Seed of Life and Holy Haste. So yeah, now that I've babbled on semi-coherently about this, lemme know what you all think! What're your favorite builds? Which campaign do you like the best? Where do you like to farm for phat loot? Do Jora's 'large tracts of land' make you all hot and bothered? Tell me!
  5. According to a listing on the United States Patent and Trademark Office's website on July 3 Lucasfilm registered a new trademark, Star Wars The Old Republic. The trademark for goods and services is described as both "interactive entertainment software" and "entertainment services provided on-line by means of global and local area networks." Also registered on July 3, Star Wars Sagas and Star Wars Legacy. So it would seem LucasArts has another Star Wars MMORPG in the works and are giving us a few guesses as to what it might be without fully revealing their hand. Oh but they have some sly Sith at the Presidio! Curiously enough, I did notice that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was not listed as a trademark on the PTO website, nor anything like it. Hmmm... I wonder if George Lucas would be OK if I took that one over. via EU Cantina and Star Wars Universe
