MP Flyable Vehicle Discussion

Raven started working on them, but it looks like they ran out of time, so rather than put buggy vehicles into the game, they just locked them off as fun easter eggs.

 

Hopefully when the code and tools are released we'll see more how to do them properly. ; )

 

Your Hoth map sounds great Emon... good luck with that btw.

Right now people fly by "cheat mode" because no maps contain the NPC_Vehicles required to use them straight away. They are there to be used though and anyone who maps for JA will be able to use them.

 

Would be nice to know though why a German magazine was told about siege_destroyer and it was then removed from the game though.

WHAT !?

flying vehicle in game but can not fly in game ? only can fly by cheat mode ??

that so makes me angry !

they should finish before release ! or

they should make othere one again or money back !!!... but I keep this one... I like Jedi Knight so... ; (

Well, they never PROMISED you could fly ships in Jedi Academy, only the ones that they eventually let you use, like the Swoop Bike, taun taun, and AT-ST and the cannons.

 

Remember, Jedi Outcast had a cheat to fly an X-wing as well, and nobody got mad about that.

 

It's too bad they didn't finish them, but you never know, they might do that in a patch or some mod makers might finish them up once all the tools are released. Be glad that Raven left them in the game for us to have fun with!

THEY ARE FINISHED!!!

 

They just have a stupid bug that needs to be fixed thats it. When mappers use the spacecraft npcs in their maps we will be able to use a perfect working fliying engine with radar, speed throtell, weapons, alternate weapons and all the ****. I made the best spacecraft ever and its 100% controlable and 3 times faster than the tie-fighter.

I realized this last night, one of the big problems is draw distance, you pretty much don't know something is coming until your right on top of it (travelling at close to top speed that is), does anyone know if there's a console command that changes draw distance? thanks.

I was looking through the siege files (just for fun) and I found that all of the siege classes for siege_destroyer are still in there, so maybe with the patch they'll release that level. And as for that CTF map it's GREAT it's a really good map everyone should check it out. Also this doesn't really pertain to this but the wookie in siege should have heavy melee which makes it punch harder, however a comment in there stated that it was bugged and therefore was not implemented.

To optimize the vehicles, just go and edit the .veh files in assets1 I believe.

Ya and also make them fly! Flying vehicles are AWSOME, come on ppl, make some decent siege maps with these and add some more vehicles and somemore classes to seige (like Roles as han and Jaden or darth for commander types and stuff) and seige could possibly be THE BEST MP ever :)

Ok, I just made it so that multiple people (3) can be in the lambda shuttle at once (VERY easy fix lol). The 2 that aren't piloting control the turrets in front on the sides, currently they don't move at all that's what I'm trying to fix now. Also the camera view is a little choppy so I'm gonna try to fix that, if anyone is interested in it, I'll post it here when I'm done.
