Escape from Nal Hutta

IC:

Excelsion looked round at the group he now seemed to be stuck with. By each hangar door was a rebel guard, as the town of Yatharra had been captured by Rebels the year before. He had fought in the battle, the imperials had paid him a lot of money to fight for them. At one point he had encountered a Jedi, and then he had fled. He should be cautious. If any rebellion soldiers recognised him, he could get into trouble for working with the Empire.

"So what are we gonna do now?" He asked.

IC: Marta knew he had an X-Wing. He knew that this would give him a certain amount of prestige with the rebels. But still he was nervous.

He wasn't with the Rebellion. But he wasn't with the Empire either. He was a bounty hunter. The rebels didn't exactly adore bounty hunters, but they didn't despise them. They had used bounty hunters in the past. He was almost certain that someone in their group had been hired by the rebellion at one time or another.

The rebellion paid bounty hunters, spies, anything well. Anything with any information of job that might help them.

Excelsion asked what to do next, and Marta didn't think anyone knew. He guessed this from the silence emmitted from the group in general. He was about to speak when a rebel dressed in robes strode into the hangar. He didn't know who he was. A leader, a well dressed grunt. He didn't know. But whoever he was, he didn't seem to be concentrating on what was going on.

The entire group seemed stunned for a moment or two. Mesmarised by this cloaked figure, just, calmly strolling towards them. Then, Excelsion seemed to back off, anxious. Cautious. Scared.

Excelsion seemed to be moving away from the rest of the group. He seemed as though he wanted to leave. Fast. The person continued towards him. Bowing his head underneath his robes. Then he looked up, and their eyes connected. One in fear, one in passiveness. One person was starlted. One was blank. They almost acted like they recognised each other...

IC: Thor was surprised by this encounter with the rebels. He had no idea why the rebels would be stationed here on Nal Hutta.

In his career Thor had tried to keep out of the whole Rebels/Imperials buisness, and had mostly only done assigments for crime lords.

As the cloaked man removed his cloak, Thor felt a stroke of fear, something that was extremely rare for a Mandalorian.

IC:

The robed man lifted his hands and placed them on his hood. Slowly, he removed it, revealing his face. Excelsion recognised him straight away. He was the Jedi who he had fought with, and fled from, during the battle in this city the year before. Fear started to overwhelm him.

"Listen...please, don't...no - you Jedi are peaceful!" He stuttered.

"I remember you," said the Jedi, without taking his gaze off him, "You were a...formidable opponent. Of course, our Jedi Code forbids me to harm you."

Excelsion stood back and took a deep breath - he wasn't going to die.

"But..." The Jedi continued, "I shall hand you over to the rebel authorities. They will decide what to do with you."

Excelsion remained silent, and bowed his head. Then he looked over at the others. The Jedi beckoned to the guards. They surrounded him.

IC: These puny rebels capturing them was one thing, this rebel laughing was almost too much.

Thor's trigger finger was shaking with rage. Thor might have been a proud warrior, but he still had common sense, so he reluctantly put his blaster away.

"What do you want rebels?" he asked them in a mocking tone.

IC:

The Jedi turned to look at Thor, with a solemn look on his face.

"Mandalorian, I would advise you to put away your blaster. We hold nothing agaisnt you." He paused and pointed to Excelsion, "Your friend has been doing buisness with the Galactic Empire - did you know that? The Rebel Authorities will be most pleased to see him."

With that, the Jedi started to escort Excelsion from the hangar.

IC: As the rebels moved to escort Excelsion away from the hangar, Marta took a step back towards his ship. More guards entered the hangar, and moved towards other members of the party, including himself.

They seemed cautious as they approached the X-Wing. Likely because they expected Marta to be a member of the rebellion. However, they pressed on with thier duty, and began to escort Marta away from the ship.

"What do you want?" Asked Richmar, puzzled by this, 'arrest' as it seemed. "Can't you see I've got an X-Wing with me?"

"Did you lead these people here?" They asked back. It had stalled them for a moment, and Marta thought that he'd figured out what they really meant.

"So. Am I a bounty hunter? Yes. Did I lead these people here? Yes. Am I the bounty hunter you're looking for? No."

They seemed suprised by this, expecting the only person to lead Excelsion here to be a hired bounty hunter, working on behalf of the rebellion. "Well?" they began, "Do you at least work with the rebellion?"

IC:

All the while, Lingo watched with a perplexed expression. "Jedi!" he called, "You're supposed to read weak minds, right?"

The Jedi stopped and turned to face him. "Only the weak ones."

"Well, out of the lot of us, you can't find someone more worth taking?"

"Explain."

Lingo swallowed hard. "If you were to read my mind, you'd find that I transported guns for the Empire. This bloke here built this X-Wing stolen plans, and Thor is an assassin. So what's your beef with Excelsion?"

The Jedi eyed Lingo carefully, he appeared to be thinking.

"I would advise you to keep out of this. He fought me during the Battle of Yatharra...and a significant number of Rebel troops died at his hands."

Excelsion could feel the anger building up inside him.

"Have you any idea how large the sum of money they were paying me was?"

"Calm down, I can feel the anger within you. You'd never make a good jedi." Then he turned to a soldier by the hangar exit. "Send a radio message to Yan, tell him to come here. We're not going to be able to get them to move."

"Who's Yan?"

"Yan Surma is one of the 'higher' stationed rebel leaders." The jedi replied. Excelsion could have sworn that he saw a smirk on the Jedi's face. The Jedi seemed to be enjoying this.

IC: Thor knew from experience that Mandalorians' minds were hard to read. He had been captured on one of his missions, and questioned in all possible ways, including torture and mind reading, but he had stood against it. But still he couldn't help feeling a bit insecure. If the jedi could read his mind and find out about his path, he would be taken a prisoner for sure.

"let's just tag along," Thor whispered under his breath.

"We don't want any trouble from you. You have nothing on us. Still, i will come along voluntarily so we can sort this out..."

IC:

"I don't think so." Lingo pulled out a holdout blaster that he had found in the X-Wing. "I've heard that blasters are ineffective against Jedi. Time to test that theory."

The Jedi was unimpressed. "I've got a better idea."

The blaster was lifted from the smuggler's hand into thin air. Lingo's sabaac face broke into surprise as its muzzle turned to tap his nose.

He smiled sheepishly. "I fold. We'll go with you."

IC: The small holdout blaster clattered to the floor, and Lingo let out a small sigh of relief.

The Jedi turned back to the wall, and began talking into his communicator. He muttered almost silently, so no-one knew what he had said.

"Come with me." He spoke, in a calm voice.

Marta wasn't sure what to do. Van had told him that he smuggled stuff, but not weapons. He'd thought that Thor was an assasin. Likely after someone else when the fighting broke out. Excelsion was clearly a fighter. The way he'd handeled those vibroblades was exemplary. But none of them were in the mood to fight anymore.

"Geeone! Look after the ship. Get ready for a pickup if neccesary." Marta then moved with the guards, along with the others and the Jedi. He felt around inside his backpack. His favourite pet was still there. Still in stasis. His Yslami.

IC:

The street outside was full of people. Guards, civilians, and all sorts of creatures and droids were going about their daily routine. The buildings all had a unique design to them, and there were hundreds of skyscrapers littering the landscape. A lot had changed since Excelsion had been here.

The Jedi lead them into a heavily guarded building, that towered above the rest. At the top was a circular dome, with large windows looking out on the city below. It was here that they were lead.

In front of them stood a Mon Calamari, Yan Surma. Beside him stood a woman, and Excelsion couldn't help but notice the lightsaber in her belt.

"You must be the...one who fought for the empire..." Said Yan in a rough, hoarse voice. "And who are these others?"

"These guys?" Excelsion asked, pointing to the others behind him, "A group that I escaped from that Hutts palace with...and a group that will help me escape again."

Surma eyed him in a suspicious way. Then he turned to the Jedi that had brought them there.

"Who are these people? Why are they here?"

The Jedi grinned,

"The one standing before you is here charged with conspiricy against the Rebellion and co-operation with the Empire. The rest are just a load of good-for-nothing bounty hunters and such."

"Against the Rebellion?" The Mon Calamari paused for a minute, then he turned to Excelsion, "When I fought against the Empire, I was fighting for justice, and freedom..."

He went on like this for a long time. Eventually Excelsion answered.

"When I fought for the Empire...I fought for money."

"You fought for the Imperials..."

Then, the woman standing next to Surma interrupted.

"May I just say that many of the Rebellions most valued agents once worked for the Empire."

OOC: If it's not too late, here I am. Let me know if I step on anyone's space, I'll edit as soon as possible. I'm a little new to this."

IC: Jivva Leea looked down at the small group being escorted by the Jedi to the guarded complex. He squinted hard as he tried to hear their conversation from his perch high on top of a neighboring building. He cursed inwardly as the Mandalorian in the group obscurred his view of the Jedi, the Jedi he was supposed to kill.

Killing Jedi wasn't easy, but he'd done it before, with a blaster even. Jivva hated to make any unnecessary kills, however. He shifted and wondered what the four people could possibly be doing in Yatharra. He'd been at the spaceport for weeks, biding his time, and he hadn't seen them before. He had an incredibly odd feeling about the four, and he always trusted his instincts.

Anxious to find out what they were doing in a Rebel controlled spaceport, Jivva decided to shake things up. It wasn't stealthy, it wasn't subtle, it wasn't his style, but he raised his modified blaster rifle and adjusted the power to be sufficient to create a rather large hole in the building's main doors. He took aim and squeezed his trigger lovingly.

OOC:

No prob, welcome to the thread. Sorry if I ruin some of your fun here...

IC:

The ground rumbled under the prisoners' feet as someone took out the main doors to the building.

Lingo felt the hair raise on the back of his neck, and suddenly the Jedi threw off his cloak. A white flash accompanied the quick hiss of a lightsaber activating.

Before the cloak could hit the ground, the Jedi had spun and one-handedly deflected a sniper shot.

Someone yelled, "Down! Get down!"

The Jedi rolled to the side as another crimson bolt smashed through the viewport glass and took a chunk out of the conference table.

Lingo saw his opportunity. "Excelsion!" he called, ducking under the table, "You got something to get these cuffs off?"

OOC:

You're not too late, so, yeah, welcome to the thread.

IC:

Excelsion stood there panicking, and another blaster shot hit the window behind him. It would only be a matter of time before they got killed, or before Rebel troops arrived. Then he heard Lingo shouting to him.

"Lingo...I..." He broke off as another blaster shot almost hit him.

In the corner of his eye, he noticed a sharp piece of metal from where the window had broken. Quickly, he put the cuffs around it, and pulled incredibly hard. They broke.

"Lingo!" he shouted, "Over here!"

OOC: Hi, welcome to the adventure (wow, I sound like a theme park guide). Hope your going to be a regular here. Just as long as you keep this thread in the 'hot' threads lists, your always welcome. If you don't, I'll have to kill you. Before killing everyone else and then commiting suicide. OK?

IC: All around him, panic reigned supreme. Rebels left and right were running, graing weapons and hiding behind walls. The Jedi was attempting to dodge the blaster bolts, while rolling to the side at random intervals. However, his new found companions were heading towards a broken Durasteel wall, cutting any binders they may have been issued with.

Marta joined the rebels ducking behind the door, drawing his small, underpowered hold-out blaster. He was still wearing his modified helmet, so he slapped down his personal HUD, and tried to find the attacker.

There he was, crouching in the roof beams of another building. Marta was divided on what to do. He wasn't sure whether to kill the assassin or help the group. He waited for their actions.

IC:

Blazes, that feels good... With the binders finally off, Lingo was more confident and began to assess the situation.

The shooting had stopped. "Did anyone get that sniper's position?"

Someone yelled an affirmative.

Rebel troopers showed up at the conference room door and began pounding on it. Lingo checked to make sure it was locked, then opened the activation panel and yanked the safety cutoffs out. Sparks flew and the emergency locks thumped into place.

"All right! We're locked in! Let's think up another miraculous escape."

OOC: Glad I'm welcome here. I'm on once a day, for an hour and a half, but I'll try to get on more to keep up with this.

IC: Jivva Leea smiled his patent grim smile as the beleagured Jedi dodged bolt after bolt from his blaster. He'd seen the four captives break their bonds and take refuge in the building. They were resourceful enough it seemed, and obviously no great friends of the rebellion. He could use some allies in taking that Jedi down later. Let's find out what these Rebels are made of...

With the four men now being free and the Jedi pinned down, Jivva powered up his blaster to a very high level. Taking aim at the ground in front of the Jedi, he squeezed the trigger.

The Jedi smiled to himself at the sniper's apparently missed shot. Seconds later he crashed into Yatharra's extensive sewer system as the ground around him vaporized. Panicked Rebel soldiers ran over to the gaping hole in awe. Some looked around trying to find the sniper, others merely gawked at the enormous hole in the street.

Jivva readjusted his footing and began firing blast after accurate blast, picking off the foolish Rebels one by one. Judging that the building's defenses were soft enough now and the panic at the appropriate level, he descended from the building to street level. He had taken note of the position that the men he'd freed had fled to. It was time to get them out of that building.

With his special assassin blasters at the ready, he began his assualt on the structure. Some soldiers returned fire, but most were shot before they had the chance. I'm not even breaking a sweat.

Reaching the door they had sheltered behind, Jivva hailed the four men. "Let's get you out of here before reinforcements arrive."

IC: A voice came crackling through on Marta comlink. He could't be sure who it was. It sounded as though it was from outside, as blaster fire was in the foreground.

The person was trying to get them out of there. Was he with the Empire? Another bounty hunter? Someone with a grudge? It didn't matter, here was a chance to escape.

Around him, rebels were securing doors, making sure that the assassin didn't get in. What the heck was going on here?

Lingo was on the other side of the wall, along with the rest of the group, complaining about the lack of an escape route.

"Well, you wanna escape, you've got one."

Marta then switched the frequency on his comlink, and began speaking to the reciever, R2-G1. "Geeone. We've...er...got a problem here. If you could get that X-Wing over here it'd be appreciated."

In the hangar where the ships had been left, the 2-seater X-Wing began to rise, before blasting out of the bay, and turning towards their location.

OOC: Now that I've had more time to write it, my character Roll Call has been updated. It's important to my characterization.

IC: Pausing one second from keeping a barrage of blaster fire flying, Jivva pounded on the locked door. "Get out of there now, I've got the Rebels pinned down out here, but I'm not going to wait all day. Get a--," he was interrupted by a scarlet bolt of blaster fire, the Rebels were organizing a counter-attack. The bolt came inches from his head and burned into the door. "I said, MOVE IT!"

A noise other than panicked shouting and blaster fire came to his ears, it sounded distinctly like the repulsorlifts of a small starship. I'm in trouble now...

Ducking behind a large sheet of broken Durasteel for cover, he unslung his rifle and powered it up to maximum. He wanted to be prepared to take out any fighter that took a pass at him.

"Get the hell out of that room!"
