Quick question, does Xmod2 currently (or will it) display a list of changed cvars (from defaults) upon entering an Xmod2 server?

Or is there a command regular users can use to see exactly what cvars are in use?

'Cause with so many variables you wouldn't know what you'd be getting joining an Xmod2 server and could lead to a lot of confusion and whining.

Just asking. ; )

Also, any luck with Bot Orders? Rich Whitehouse (formerly of Raven Software) supposedly knows this stuff, but you'd have to talk to him directly I think.

It only sends the message when you first connect and on map change (you don't see the message for everyone else). It's just a print command so players are usually unaware of it even existing. Bringing down the console will show the xmod version followed by a list of non default cvars ;) I did this primarly for clan matches so players could be sure the server is set up correctly.

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to admin mods, can anyone here tell me, iI go to the site, and Xmod 2.50 says linux, or win32 I use windows xp, will this make any difference?

EDIT: also, I used JA in the past with some serious difficulties, it says start up your server with +fs_game soandso How do I do this, I've never quite understood it

Well, I suppose it would be ok as long as it's just a small amount of text, but doesn't Xmod have a truckload of new cvars? That's a lot of data if you include descriptions.

Does it occur at the start of each duel match?

The version should be the same as what the server is using.

If you are running the server at home on a Windows XP computer, use the Win32 version. If you or your clan are using a leased server from a server-hosting company, check with that company to find out what OS they are using for their servers. Most, but not all, use Linux.

If you are making the server at home, create a shortcut to your jamp.exe program (the multiplayer part of JA) and edit the shortcut properties to add "+set fs_game <modname>" to the shortcut's command line.

Most servers I've seen running this mod are FFA maps where the people hardly open their console anyways. So you're talking every 20 minutes, typically, and the console usually is littered with JKA loads before this anyways at that point.
