I played the Doom 3 Alpha a while back, and let's just say the shadows are amazing. I even jumped when I saw my own shadow! And notice how all of it is dark (I know its meant to be, but dark rooms seem to be being used a lot - Far Cry, Doom3, etc). And those shadows are...well...rubbish.
