Age of Wraith RPG

The year is 1527, the world, finally starting to cool down after the violent crusader wars that swept across Europe all the way to the Middle East, is in a relative state of peace. People continue to walk the street, peasants, and nobility. Peasants across Europe live in fear of another war, in which many of them could be called to fight, and die, leaving there families without a father. For the nobility, this is of course no problem, as they sit in the comfortable houses, drinking there whine, without a care in the world, other then what they themselves want.

In the middle east, the Arab nations continue to attempt to rebuild there fractured provinces from Europe’s raids into there land. Jihads are ever watchful for any more incursions on there land, as Sultans and Kalifah’s attempt to return there respective states to there former glory. A boiling hatred for the west continues to grow in the hearts of those who live in these troubled times, as they live in fear of more attacks from there European enemies, despite the peace that has lasted for this fair amount of time.

The Asian nations, China and Japan, remain fairly tided up in there own affairs, caring little for what the rest of the world does. The wars with the Golden Hoard has left China shaking on its knees, as the forces of Kublai Kahn plan to rain down on warring states of Japan. The country itself still to embroiled in its own personal civil wars to know of the approaching enemy, and to prepare an ample defense against them.

In the new world, the Native American population lives in peace, after driving away there Spanish invaders over 100 years ago. Tribes war with each other, make peace, trade, and continue in much the way things have for the many years that they have lived there.

The human-dominated world continued to progress through war, peace, and hunger, unhindered by anything but themselves, until the month of January 8th, 1527...

The bright, blue sky over Europe was clear today, the sun beaming down on citizens of Wales, as children played in the streets, and nobles road past them in there horse drawn carriages, it seemed to be a fine day. A noble, who sat on a bench, basking in the sun, was disturbed however, as a shadow loomed over the warmth of the suns glow. He opened his eyes, prepared to tell off whatever pest dared interrupt his rest, but any words he had planned where stopped instantly, upon the sight of the blood red sky above him.

Before he could say anything, black dots appeared all over the crimson skies, as they fell towards the earth. As they approached, he could see they where black, egg shaped pods. One crashed right in front of him, his mouth wide open, his eyes wide, and his skin pale. As the pod crack open, and out stepped a grotesque, blood red creature, that gazed at him with hunger in its eyes. Before the nobleman could scream, the beast leapt upon him, sinking its jagged teeth into the victim's plump neck. The attack ripped the larynx out and a bright crimson stream of blood splattered to the ground as the nobleman unsuccessfully attempted to scream. As his body hit the ground, the last of his life ebbed away in a pool of blood on the grass.

All over the world, this scene was being repeated. In the Middle East, the pods rained down on the golden sands of Egyptians, Almohads, and Turkish people, all over Europe, England, France, Italy, and Spain had come under assault. China and Japan where hit the hardest of all, to compensate for the vast numbers, and the Tribes of the new world fought a horribly desperate battle for survival against this foe who came out of no where.

The red sky had spread across the world, as had this new enemy, the likes of which had never been seen before. The hoards of creatures landed in waves, blotting out the sun itself. The world has come under siege…but there is hope. For a few select individuals do have the power to fight back this evil…this is the Age of Wraith.

Jack was sitting in the tavern. 'Anything new?' the barkeeper asked him. 'Nope. Sorry.' He answered. 'Due to the quarantine, nobody goes in or out. I have simply stolen everything that was available, and now they're not restocking. Those horrors have been besieging the city for almost a week now, i'd be lucky if i could find some food...'

Darrel sat on the other side of the tavern, covered in a cloak. Since the beasts had attacked Wales, he had attempted to aid the local army in driving them off, but to no avail. He now sat alone in the tavern, thinking to himself, that it would not be long before the creatures break through the defenses of the blockade. Even this Rookery would fall within a few days if something was not done. Startled slightly, when a waitress dropped a glass accidentally, he shook his head, and continued to look outside. He could see smoke coming from the fires that had engulfed the other side of town. He could hear the screams…

"We are all doomed..." He said dryly.

Suddenly, the door opened. Wounded soldiers were carried inside and brought to the back of the tavern. There, they were treated, though most of them would die of their injuries a few days later anyway. The other soldiers went back to the front.

Outside, you could hear the battle coming closer. The screams of death and the battle cries of the demons came closer and closer. It wouldn't be long untill they'd reach the tavern. They had a day, at most. 'Maybe we should do something.' Jack said, msotly to himself. 'It would at least be a more satisfying death than waiting around here to be slaughtered.' He grabbed his sword's hilt, but didn't unsheathe it. He was afraid to go, because he knew very well that the only way to leave the front alive, was with mortal injuries...

OOC: mortla injuries... is that the proper term?

Darrel saw the man standing up, holding his sword. He let a long sigh, shaking his head, but also stood. He looked over to the man and shouted.

"And what do you plan to do against the marauding hoard out there? The entire garrison in Wales can't stop it, and everyone who has attempted to escape have been cut down in seconds..."

He gave him a look of interest.

Darrel turned towards the direction of the spanish accent. "Well, lets see, we're surounded by ravenous beasts out for our blood, we're hoplessly outnumbered, time is against us, we have a good run till the edge of the city, and we do not know how far these things have spread..." He stopped for a second and looked at the ground.

Finally looking back up, he said to the room "So, who is up for a mad dash to saftey?" he spoke, with a grin on his face.

Darrel looked at the two men, and thought for a second before standing up. "I am Darrel, by the way. And my plan?" He sat back down in his chair, as if to think once more.

"Well, as crazy as this may sound, our only hope is to use to the battle as a distraction, and then scale the eastern wall. However, I am not exactly an expert climber...would any of you be, by any chance?" He looked at the pair, wondering.

'Rope.' jack said. He grabbed a rope from his belt. 'Here you go. I always carry one on me, it's a must-have in my trade. Only, we need to attach it to the wall. So, Spaniard, if you can climb up the wall and attach it for us, that'd be great.' He smiled. 'I'm starting to like this plan.'

*Darrel nodded sternly* "Good then, it is settled. We'll have to wait till the demons are distracted, which shouldn't take very long, as they'll be clashing with the local Militia any time now..."

The three men can hear the fighting growing closer, and the screams of dieing men growing more thunderous with each passing minute. They can hear buildings being set ablaze in the midst of the carnage, as blood begins to soak the once pleasant streets of Wales.

"It is almost time...we best be moving into position boys." Darrel said, as he stood up, exiting the tavern, and dashing towards the eastern wall, as the battle raged on around them. He stayed to the allies, as far away from the fighting as he could, as he grew closer to his destination.

Pable ignored the spaniard comment, he burst out of the tavern and ran as fast as he could , he was a few paces infront of the other 2, he reached the wall, and jumped as he was running, he caught a brick that was sticking out and he hoisted himself up on top and then fastened the rope to a tree stump on the other side.

"you can come over now!"

Something came crashing trough the tavern's roof. It was a soldier. 'Now would be a very good time to leave.' Jack remarked. He quickly ran after Pablo. Some other people came with them as well. Jack couldn't blame them, afterall they wanted to live as well, but too many people would attract the Demons' attention.

He jumped towards the rope and quicly pulled himself up. Hw jumped off on the other side of the wall.

'Where to next?' He asked...
