LMAO..... unless you''re a graphic designer or high end programmer, the average suburban gamer has *NO* use for one of these contraptions. I find apple ppl are pretentious...look at Mike(txa) for example, make one little joke about a Mac *anywhere* on LF and he hunts you down and gives you a speech longer than the Bill of Rights... :(:p

bah ! Macs - ghey

hey, btw - I heard theyre planning to release KOTOR on Mac.....in about 2009 :p

*hugs nasty a$$ ever-crashin pc*

Or maybe I'll just cave in and buy the Minimac. I really want a mac, just for fun. they look cool too. I'd get a normal mouse, since I can't live without scroll. :)

If by fun you mean using it as a big white paperweight, go for it :D

Unless you're actually going to use the thing, in which case i would have to ask you what you would do with it that would be considered fun. And remember, PC's can look up porn just as fast as Apple computers can ;)

Wow. A mac. How freakin exciting. :dozey:

I mean, come on guys, it might load programs a full 0.05 seconds faster than windows. Holy crap! Think of the opportunities!

The speed of processors now is rediculous anyways. Goodness, are our lives so important that everything must happen instantly? We can't wait less than half of a second anymore?

Yah, you're right, well, only when you run games like Morrowind.

For me: 71 processes, 16 windows open with Photoshop, Image ready, my Security prog, Steam, Winamp, Windows media player, Adobe reader and other things.

17 things in the tray at 4% CPU usage w/no slow-down what so ever.... coolio

You just got BURNED! :xp:

6. No real multi-tasking

That's the main reason why I hate macs. I can't work on it fast enough... And all the software being made by apple is a disadvantage; instead of releasing patches for special software; NO! You'll need to buy the latest sub-operating system.

One of the best reasons not to get mac's is you cannot buy parts, if your mother board breaks you are stuck with buying a new computer, whereas with a PC you can be up and running on the same day afer a trip to PC world.

Mac's are good though, as long as you are in the music industry or design a lot of graphics, but that is the only thing that they beat a PC on (besides not crashing)

Well that was what the reveiw on the "gadget show" found out.

Uh... I just wanted to throw in the fact that we have several Macs in my office at work... and that they all have 2-button scroll mice that work just the way they do in Windows.

Just thought you should know.

Oh,.. and I'm seriously considering getting one of those new, under $500 Mini-Macs for home.

Wow, more crappy false generalizing. So I guess you hate pixar, dreamworks cgi department, and pretty much every company that does special effects for movies, and even Lucasfilms ltd.

Well, I already have a good PC. (3 ghz, 512 ram, 9700 pro) So I figure, "Why not get a mac?"

Well, I don't really know why...it won't be to play games, but I dunno, they just look so cool....

It's hard to refuse something that looks cool. :p

1. Where is the disk eject?

2. They only have one mouse button, less productivity

3. Where are the function (F1, F2, etc.) buttons?

4. They are slow as hell

5. Only macintosh makes the software

6. No real multi-tasking

7. Real men use DOSThe Mac OS Sucks!!!

8. Your system has crashed, what do you do now (without the backup (DOS))

9. They're not IBM compatible

10. They're made by the same people that made the apple IIe

11. They're not quite as powerful as a Commodore or Tandy

12. The Atari had better games

13. Microsoft's chairman, Bill Gates, is very public, who the heck is mac's chairman

14. Formatting a disk takes up half of its space

15. They have about as much memory as Ronald Reagan

16. No real businessman would own one or be caught using one

17. They somehow force schools to buy them so students don't learn how to use a real computer untill college

18. It costs more for everything on a mac

All those listings just show your ignorance. Take your foolish statements, and leave.

for the record too, XP does not have DOS, so you just called your own system bad. :)

Macs

Pros: Uh, they don't freeze? Look cool.

Cons: can't play any games, slower, no customization.

You should learn to stop BSing, it's not polite and it makes you look stupid.

PCs

Pros: Customizable (physical and electronicaly), games, speed, price, they are a lot like tuner cars in a sense. :p

A mac can be costumized too. Second, why would you use a BUSINESS computer to play games? You wouldn't.

No offense, but your uncle is probably very slow at computers and as an excuse just says that.

and phreak, you can't use an iMac as an example. It's like comparing a 3 series BMW to a 7 series. Your mouse argument is foolish, purchase a new mouse and be gone.

In the end, Macs are designed for business and developement, not games. PC's are designed for the average person, thus games and other crap.

PCs and MACs are designed for completely different things.

You can go round and round in circles all day about "who has the better hardware" and "who has the better software". But, frankly, it's each to his/her own.

Personally, I prefer PCs - simply because they do what I require out of them. They have the customisable hardware factor, and if you treat them properly, they won't crash on you. I'm being serious when I say that with my limited experience using MACs, I have crashed them about 3 times. My PC rarely crashes - and when it does, it's some crappy software that causes it, not the operating system.

If you want to play games, use a very wide range of software, and be compatible with pretty much everything, then get a PC. If you want to edit video, create CGI etc then a MAC is for you.

Quit arguing over stupid things, and start enjoying your computer - whether it be a MAC or a PC :)

Actually, awhile ago I was thinking the same thing.

They're sexy, and somewhat effecient. So really if I had a choice between the new mac and a new TV, I'd pick the mac anyday :p

But most are just idiots that say "omg liek mac doesn't play Half-Life and i can't play other popular games, it r sux. omg lol mac. wuts with that one button mouse, omgsux."

You should, mac mini's are great productive computers. Maybe they don't have all the flash and pizazz of these home-use PC's, but they're very reliable. Which is why mac's are great and used a lot in businesses, they're reliable crafted machines, before shipped out their hand tested, unlike those at HP, Dell, Sony, etc. Infact no name brand PC company hand tests their computers before shipping out.

And TiE, why would you have 16 instances of photoshop going, with image ready? There's no point. Also, unlike you most people that actually have jobs in image design spend their time doing one project at a time, plus they're good at it.

And winamp and windows media player going? Use one or the other.

Also, your computer may be able to do those things, but you aren't supposed to do it just because it can. Have fun wearing out your processor and shortening it's lifespan. :)

Wow, what are you? An attorney? One of my best friends got an Ipod, I don't hate her because of that.

Apple upgrades (if any) are more expensive: 9800 Pro (Mac) Its $370!

That's fine, but coming in here slandering things isn't very reasonable. To those that don't like mac's or pretty much don't agree with others opinions, make reasonable posts. You're entitled to your opinion and tastes, but coming in here and shouting "omg *whatever* sux" is not a valuable post and we all know your goal is to just incite argument. Alright, thank you for your time.
