Yep its official just got my new PC Gamer and there is a big article on Star Wars BattleFront 2. There's going be real space battles, a Jedi class, and the frame rate cap has been lifted. You can land your ships inside other space cruisers for performing boarding operations. Lets just hope that a community can be formed after the disappointing first installment, that turned off so many people. I also am hoping for a better single player campaign. Expect a fall release.

Er...don't think so.

No joke my friend. I know my sources before I just assume. Thats not the latest issue either. The Battlefront 2 info is in PC Gamer 136. The cover story is HellGate. Ill post screens and article a little later.

Releasing a 2nd while there's still so much to be done to make the first playable.

"SWBF 2: now in shops. Features: no frame cap!"-> Isn't really convincing

If they do at least I hope they release admin tools from the start and don't rush the game

So Pandemic want a 'do-over'?

this sounds like the game Battlefront was supposed to be...they should just release it as the 1.3 patch...or at least a lower cost addon. its insulting to make people pay another 50 bucks after selling us the 'betatest' that was swbf 1.0

I wonder if it will even have a server tool (which the current game still doesnt)...and have they learned the lesson that a PC game needs to be a PC game (and not just a console port with tiny little maps).

Battlefield 2 will be out by then...if they dont want to be laughed out of the market they better make a quantum leap in quality and functionality.

They need to work on a bigger air space on ground assault maps.

They also need to have a squad command feature where you command bot to attack your target and a waypoint feature where you can tell your people where to go.

Third when you fly star-fighters you can command other fighters to attack your target; follow you, proctect an area on the ground/space or a friendly vehical/unit.

Last complaint, which for 50% of games the frendly A.I. .They need make that A.I. equal to enemy A.I. for fairness. :o

Hope its true and hope it draws a larger fan base! Also I hope the developers read the complaints, suggestions, and nice to haves on SWBF so the feasible ones that make sense will be passed on to the new game.

Maybe that is why Pandemic is doing the network code test - not for SWBF, but for improvements for SWBF2.

You sure it's not the Multiplayer Code stuff they're doing now? I didn't bother trying to read those scans.

I also doubt the vaildity of it since they still have to fix 1, and that no other major gaming site I visited had anything on SWBF2

PC Gamer is very creditable my friend. Its coming out if you like it or not! They are done with Battlefront. A company cannot keep on producing patches forever or they can never make a profit making more games. Lets just hope Pandamic does it right this time...

I'm getting bad vibes from this.

It looks exactly like Battlefront. All the same characters, weapons, animations, and gameplay. With some new maps, and a Jedi class (which is a negative for most people).

How they can re-release a game for $50 with a few new things that can and already have been by modders is beyond me. Looks more like patch work to me.

I for one am not interested. After seeing that I got bored with SWBF rather quickly, no sequel can draw me back in.

I just hope for one thing out of SWBF 2- That they have fixed it so that in Instant Action, you can choose which side you want to play on. And also some maps for which it seems they have done. And if anyone knows how you can tell Lucasarts how to fix that, let me know please.

Really the only way i would buy this is if it was an expansion, not a new program, for maybe half the price, other then that how can you justify creating a whole new game when all your adding is a couple of maps and a new class that will probably end up being overpowered? I think this could be simply added with a patch I battlefront 2 will really have to be impressive if im even going to think about buying it.

Please post more details about the Battlefront 2 article so we know exactly whats so special about it. I'm extremely interested in knowing how they are going to sell this off as brand spankin' new when it looks like a Mysteries of the Sith expanison for Battlefront. I REALLY hope they added some REAL NEW STUFF in it. Stuff like the following:

A Wookie Army Faction/Other factions -

Straight from Revenge of the Sith folks. If you've seen the trailer or teaser you'll know what I'm talking about. And don't tell me that's dumb because they'd all have bowcasters. Watch this and take a look at Wookiee weaponry being created for Ep3 -

http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/bts/me3/5.html. Other optional factions?

-Episode 3 Clone Army faction

-Geonasian Army Faction (made up of all Geonasians broken down by caste ranking from Elite to drone)

-Planetary Army Faction (made up of locals from the planet, much like the Royal Naboo guard)

-Jawa faction (they could have the Sandcrawler as a vehicle) Just kidding!

Additional units or unit changes for the better -

How much more useful would a wookiee for the rebels if he could carry around a tripod mounted blaster cannon and set it up where ever he wishes? It would be alot better than having him carry around time bombs thats for sure. Making changes to existing terrible character classes would be welcome in Battlefront 2. Plus, having a character being able to setup a machinegun-like blaster cannon would help diversify gameplay and create a more strategic enviroment. Add in some new units for the Battlefront 2 like a REAL ARC trooper with akimbo blaster pistols or wristmounted flamethrower/whipcord. For the droids create an extra unit like the Dwarf spider droid who could traverse the battlefield quickly, jam the enemies radar and deliver a powerful blaster shot from its nose cannon. Lets get wild with some of the units and not be so bland across the board as it was with Battlefront 1.

Multiple skin variants for all the classes -

Each class and faction should have a specifically tailored outfit suited for that enviroment. So, when we play as Rebel soliders on the Blockade runner they should look like soliders stationed on a starship, not like they just walked out of a Ewok forest. For the factions like the Droids, Republic and Empire all the units armor should look weathered from their surrounding enviroment. So, if they're in a jungle enviroment they've got the green stain on their boots and wet grim on their armor. If they're on a volanic planet they look darkened with ashen soot. These kinds of changes make the game more appealing after playing and seeing the same old old skins running around in level after level. Take a look at these JK3 Hoth skin variants - http://hapslash.tripod.com/jkii/wip_sw5_hothrebs.html

Add JK3 Seige Gameplay -

If anyone has ever played Jedi Academy seige mode or Return to Wolfenstein you'll know what I'm getting at. Have multiple objectives and missions that players can engage in each level instead of the gameplay boiling down to a 'who can kill, who the fastest'. Have class specific roles for all the maps where pilots are needed to hack into door consoles or heavy weapon troopers are needed to blast open a wall, etc. Inject this kind of gameplay and you can attract more attention to BF2 rather than having the same 'ole, same 'ole. Maybe have a mission on the blockade runner where the rebel team must escort a number of Senators to the escape pods before the imperials capture or kill them. This type of creative mission based gameplay might prove engaging to those who've soured of Battlefront.

Re-implement Internet Galactic Conquest mode -

Though it never made it into the final release of Battlefront Galactic Conquest mode for internet play was supposed to be quite cool. The idea is the same as in singleplayer Galactic Conquest - choose which planet to attack and planet by planet conquer them all, while collecting planetary bonuses until you finally rule the galaxy. The key for online play would be the use of planetary bonuses. Entire conquering strategies could emerge from games where one side decides to use certain bonuses that grant them the advantage when invading or being invaded. It would be great to have a voice in selecting which planet to attack next with your online team. Also teams should switch defend attack positions for each and every map. Let's see how well the Empire defends Hoth as the rebels attack en mass. How would the Republic fare when they are on the defensive at Rhen Var when the CIS rolls its mech units onto the battlefield.

I know I have more things that SHOULD happen with Battlefront 2 but I just can't recall all of them right now.

Oh, just remembed one. And last but not least there should be a Pirate vs Ninja faction.

Thanks,

-d.

Im frustrated.

Battlefront is a good game, however unpolished it is.

If their is an expansion, it shouldnt be $50, and must offer much new content, but most importantly have it so well polished Players ahould be able to see themselves in it.

I think It should contain more time periods, even reaching into the depths of EU, possibly even other games (kotor).

It would be nice if they added new time periods such as:

Sith troopers vs.the Old Republic. (possibly having the heroes being Malak and Revan)

EP3 troopers vs. seperatists/ early rebels

Yuuzan Vong vs. New Republic

I like the idea of a kotor faction, cus it kind of unites the lucas games together. The sith Trooper side can possibly include sith assasins, or weak dark jedi as their special.

As cocern of the Battlefront existence, its possible- but its the cost that concerns me the most

Why am I hearing so much complaining about Battlefront 1 and 2? I am a Star Wars freak so I love battlefront even in its apparent "bad" condition. The pictures have to look like the battlefront we play right now because it's a PREVIEW and people don't just want to stare at words. Pandy and Lucas haven't really even started it! The PREVIEW is about what they expect, not what the finished product is. Most of you probably know this but you're acting like its done already and those pictures are what the battlefront 2 is. The developers just went into the battlefront we have that I know and love and made a new map or two that we haven't seen, played it, took some pictures of it, and gave it to the Gamepro enquirers. Not the Battlefront 2 yet guys. Can we please stop complaining?
