The attack of the remnants

Recommended Posts

Cole glanced at Strider. This had progressed much further and faster than he'd originally thought. He approached the commander again.

"Apparrently, the Jedi keep themselves extremely sheltered. Please do not be annoyed by my questions. I am merely trying to understand." He paused. "We were sent to persuade you to rejoin the Republic? I was under the impression we were here to add to the sense of safety."

He stared out at the seperatist ships. "I can see we are only adding to the danger."

"No, no. Grand Admiral El'Karoth wanted the jedi to set up a branch here so the system would be more easily slipped back into the Republic" he explained and looked at cole quickly, hiseyes turning back to the window quickly after it. "Send a word to Marian. Tell them to distract the cruisers. Also, get this ship ready for a short-ranged hyperspace jump and get our bottom laser ready. We need to take the command ship out with one shot" he shouted out commands and officers changed places and fulfilled the commands.

The Vanquisher quickly jumped into hyperspace and jumped out right over the command ship. One laser blast and a reconnected visual proved that the Commander knew his business. Where once stood the command bridge was now only a dissolving tower of spare metal and a fire. The commander grinend slightly and looked at the jedi. "Full speed! We need to get to the space station before any new seperatist fleets arrive" he barked and the ship started speeding up quickly, a couple of other cruisers similiar to the Marian flew past them and went to help the Mimban cruiser with destroying the seperatists completely. The commande rlooked up at Cole again and sighed as he could see in his mind what the war would become like in the next couple of months. "You do know that the Jedi council sent you here just because they need any system they can into the Republic. They can't lose their status as the peacekeepers of the Galaxy again. They know too well that the sith could not just uphold an iron peace in the glaxy, but they would have access to everything the jedi don't. Like the military, the actual leadership of the Galaxy and knowledge of everything without the threath of their only link to a system jumping onto the rebel side" he said and stood up. "If there are Sith anymore, that is..." he added with a quiet voice as he leaned his chin on his fist, staring out of the window at one of the ocean planets of Mimban that was growing quickly as the ship got closer

"If history is any indication, the Sith are never completely gone," Cole said quietly. "And they're probably just as intent on complete domination as ever."

His gaze drifted out the window and fell on the same ocean planet that drew the commander's gaze. "This is a beautiful system. I would hate to see it collapse under the weight of a war."

((Not much to know, because of a vote of an intergalactic Republic army that would violate the peace of many systems has caused many systems to seperate from the Republic after Mimban declared their part in the republic's history ended. Now starts to reveal that the Mimban ex-senator Thomas El'Karoth has been planning to make Mimban a part of the Republic again(With the help of the jedi council) and with the very weak senate, the Mimban armies would be extremely welcomed. Cole and Strider are being escorted throught the hostile Mimban system to the Mimban council's meeting place, a space station above an ocean world, and to plan the next step in El'Karoth's plan. The Mimban system is neutral, but the seperatists are extreme about it. Either the system joins the Seperatist alliance or will be completely destroyed

That enought?))

"If you only would know..." he sighed and stood up. "You should get into your shuttle. We're arriving to the space station soon and you will get out faster if anything happens. The ocean planet you see is the home of... well, let's say that latest information shows that there are quite some places to hide in" he said and looked at the guards next to one of the turbolifts and the guards opened the door with a hiss. "It was pleasant meeting you, jedi. I hope we shall have another moment together someday when it's a bit more normal" he said and bowed humbly.

On the space station, the council members were in a war. Thomas sat in the end of the table and sighed. "We need troops! Kamino is more than priceless!" one of them shouted. "But we need all our ships here! The Kaminoans can handle themselves!" another one shouted and then El'Karoth jumped up. "Shut up! Shut up! This is not your matter! It's mine. The troops that have been sent to Kamino are under my command, not yours. Now, if you want to deny my access to my senatorial rights that by the 7th amendment still is my right untill a new senator is elected, I will just have to withdraw my fleet and accuse you of trying to overtake full power from the people and I would just need to lock you up untill the people of the system elect a new council" he said to them coldly and made many of the members fall back into their chairs, shocked of his words and the cold tone of his voice. "Now, if you might excuse me, I must go and greet the jedi" he said and walked out oif the dark room, leaving the council members muttering to each other quietly of what he just said. The people would listen to him more than the council... The council was old and the senator had always been the people's voice in the republic... even now the whole rejoinming into the republic peacefully has been declared as his idea and obviously this has gotten hundreds of thousands of youngsters and even a bit older men to join the Mimban military

Strider was a bit on edge seeing everything that was going on. He sighed, half wishing his old ship, the Ragnarok, wasn't currently active due to a nasty encounter he had with some pirates in his last mission, otherwise he'd have suggested they'd lend a helping hand to the Mimban forces. He joined Cole next to the window and nodded. "It is a beautiful planet. We should try our best to help uphold our ways as peace keepers and bring an end to this conflict." He stated.

((Well the ex-Senator turned Grand Admiral has just gotten out of a meeting with the Council and is on his way to meet Cole and Strider. They are currently headed toward their little shuttle that's sitting in the docking bay of the Vanquisher. When they reach the shuttle, they will board and fly to the space station called Galindor and meet the Grand Admiral.))

Craig stood silently behind him. He was thinking, his mind working. If Cole had any methods of sensing the thoughts of others, he could probably hear what sounded like an angry bee-hive coming from Strider's mind. Thoughts were racing through his head, thinking of possiblilities of what could happen in the events of the mission. Strider was always unsure of what to expect, even after becoming a Knight he was still rather young-minded.

Cole did sense Strider's 'bee hive' of thoughts, but did not seem to react to this physically. He projected his words into Strider's mind. Quiet your mind. Calm your frantic thoughts. Only when you force yourself to look at the thoughts one at a time can you truly find the answers... and then only to some of the questions.

"Almost. Just going through final preparations. Which reminds me." He spoke through a comm that communicated him directly to Lawrence.

"You done yet?"

"Not yet, it's acting up again."

"Dammit I told the engineers to fix it. Do the usual, and get up here."

"All right."

There was a loud metallic clang, and Lawrence entered the shuttle.

"All right we're ready. Sit down and buckle up."

Strider raised an eyebrow clearly stating "Well that's reassuring," mixed with a bit of an amused smile. He caught Cole's message as well, and began to organize his thoughts, going through one at a time slowly. He felt like he was back being an apprentice all over again, and he tried to calm himself and bring himself back to his training.

"All right everyone strapped in? Good. We're lifting off."

John reached for the ignition button, and pushed it. A few sparks flew from the button. John yanked his hand back, and exchanged a look with Lawrence. The engine came on anyway.

"We're rolling."

After that the liftoff was flawless.

"Yep. Hold on, we're leaving the atmosphere, gets a little bumpy around here."

Here the shuttle started shaking wildly, and from the engine there came some crashes and rattles.

"Don't worry, those panels've been loose since we bought the thing. Can't find the right size screws. We're almost out."

((Heh... atmosphere in a ship's docking bay... now there's a picture :p ))

Cole glanced at the two pilots and then at Strider as the shuttle rose, rattling and creaking all the way out into space.

"I can't believe we made it through hyperspace," he said quietly. Then, his attention was drawn to the space station, Galindor. "I must say, that is quite impressive."
