Has anyone found a version of the soundtrack that does not include the ambient background sounds? I'm dying for a clean version of the music playing during the diving competition. I can't remember... is it possible to turn down the ambient sound in the game (in the options menu or any other way)? If possible, I could record the track from the game. Thanks!

As far as I'm aware, no. One of the composers did post the ending cutscene music without any overlaid sound in his online portfolio which can now be found on Mojo Soundtracks, but if I recall correctly he didn't release any more because LucasArts made him remove it roughly a day or so later. Any other releases of the music, including those included in the game itself, have the sounds unremovably overlaid directly into the mp3 files.

 

It's a shame too, because whilst EMI's soundtrack was certainly not as good as CMI's, it was a decent listen. The overlaid sound effects make it pretty much impossible to enjoy though since unlike with CMI, it doesn't sound like much consideration was put into making the sounds actually work with and accompany the music -- they're just 'there'.

Yeah, EMI certainly "borrowed" more past tunes than CMI did, but it did have a ton of great original compositions as well. I feel some of the music from the game is among the best in the series. I would love to get certain cutscene music, but alas. Clint should "accidentally" leak it to Mojo Soundtracks.

Personally, I thought the clarinet in the Palace of Prothesis was the best music in the whole game. For some reason it reminded me of the Robert Redford movie Sneakers.
