Star Wars Battlefront 3 (wishlists)

Well, the hailfire sucks at close range and sucks at long range. I mean, it pretty much is the worse vehicle in the game (by a long distance) without at least tweaking it to give it a purpose. Artillery don't have to use cannons y'know. As long as it can run and fire at a long range, why shouldn't the Hailfire work?

Yeah....The Hailfire Droid is really the worse vehicle in the game IMO. It doesn't help much.

If the hailfire was tweaked so the missiles would own in range and damage categories, then I think it could work. To me, the only other unit that would work for CIS artillery is the HAG (like lordzack already mentioned), but it looks a bit too much like the AAT. I think it would be better to use movie units to their utmost, but if a role can't be filled in by the movies, THEN EU units would come to fill the gap.

Yeah, the Hailfire and Spider droid do tend to suck... I think they should give their weapons a boost personally. The hailfire rockets should be at least as powerful as those fired by a HVY trooper, if not more. Other then that I think it's a good vehicle, made for fast speedy strikes but it lacks staying power. Sort of like a suicide/artillery piece, it goes in, unloads its rockets and if it's still alive after that runs down as many cones as it can before croaking. Heck, give it's rockets a "lock on" feature as well, they're still innaccurate due to that heedless spiraling, but at least they head in the GENERAL direction of the target...

The spider just needs some targets to shoot at, the AT-TE's don't take much damage from it's laser. If only it had some gunships to blast out of the sky...

Now I think the CIS has some pretty good artillery already, they have the spider droids long range lasers and the haifires damaging (if innaccurate) rocket bursts (although it's rockets need some pumping up.) heck, you might even classify the ATT's main cannon as an "artillery" type of weapon, good for bombarding folks at long ranges.

Yeah, I guess that why the Hailfire Droid is weak when firing. It's speed replaces it and make it hard to take out. I honestly like the way the Spider Droid is. It's sorta effective when taking out troops and attacking the AT-TE.

I see them both as artillery pieces, but with different roles. Spider is more pinpoint and anti-infantry, the Hailfire should be the "you canna catch me suckaaaa!" artillery..then it drives over a mine.

Well, the AAT is too, too good. I love it.

BTW, why does the hailfire have a scope, while the spider doesn't? I mean, how can you snipe with a Hailfire!!?! At least the spider needs accurate aim.

Since this idea was placed in another forum, i'll out it here because I like the idea.

Free For All? sounds fun. I actually thought about a "Mos Eisly street brawl" scenario. Where instead of picking armies you just spawn as a random alien scum on mos eisly, then run around killing anyone and everyone with whatever weapons you can find...

I think it would be rather fun to play a FFA.

I'd like to see the existing vehicles tweaked to suit specific roles.

Obviously some vehicles fill multiple roles, like the AT-TE, but yeah, I agree with whomever said the AT-RT should not be an anti-vehicle platform. It's a lightly armored scout vehicle with what should be a fast repeating blaster that's perfect for taking out infantry.

Basically, I think you need anti-infantry, anti-vehicle, and multi-role units. Heavy troopers become your anti-vehicle but can serve a limited anti-infantry role. Normal troopers are your mainstay, but get destroyed by vehicles. Engineers have equipment that works against both, but must be set up properly and don't work at long range. Snipers are obviously anti-personnel. Then you've got your specialist units like the spies, dark troopers, etc.

The vehicles should be relatively easy to set up. you'd need to make vehicle hitpoints a LOT higher than they are now, but have anti-vehicle weapons capable of dishing out the damage. The thing is, anti-vehicle weapons would only work with direct hits on infantry -- no splash damage to speak of.

Kind of like WWII tanks -- they'd load armor piercing rounds and high explosive rounds (but it wasn't 'til later that HEAT rounds came into play). You have the rocket trooper's rockets do strong damage against a single target, but have no real splash damage.

This way, for example, a spider droid's beam laser could work in both roles if it had high enough damage. Sweep it across an infantry formation and it'll guarantee a few kills. Hold it on a single enemy vehicle and it'll considerably drop the health of the vehicle.

In terms of other designs, for anti-infantry you can use high explosive splash-damage type weapons, or high volume of fire weapons. So, the hailfire droid could have two different fire modes, one of which acts as a targeted, single lock-on missile for anti-vehicle work, and the other which randomly launches a hail (get it?) of rockets into infantry formations for splash damage, but which aren't really controlled.

You=win. Like the Hailfire idea, might make it a little anti-air as well, which is always cool. I think making the vehicles into "classes" adds a lot more depth to the game, it should be a loss that something so powerful (in the right hands) is owned, especially tactical units such as command walkers and artillery pieces, not a "meh, the spider'll be back in a minute" scenario.

Saying that, the rebels are screwed so far in the vehicle department, but I don't like the new "tank", it looks far too big to be in an anti-infantry role, it looks more like a battle tank than the original!

Dwarf Spiders!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I know they should be a droid, but sizewise they would be nice as a light vehicle, and are quite effective.

I always wished the dwarf spiders were in this game in some form or another... either as a local NPC who helps CIS or as a speacial class. Maybe as a good HVY trooper varient with a heavy laser cannon (well, for infantry at least...) Or maybe even a droid commanders can deploy, they could control them from a distance or keep them as an NPC who follows him around and guards him.

Since this idea was placed in another forum, i'll out it here because I like the idea.

Hmm that idea sounds strangely familier... I like the sound of it though!

Nothing really I can add to the whole vehicle thing or execpt whats already been said, specific roles and jobs, various improvements, etc...

Am I the only one here that considers the dwarf spider a vehicle? I dunno; it's bigger than most infantry.

Meh, after looking at some more info at Wookieepedia, it's about the same height as infantry, but when it's legs come into play, overall, it's larger than individual infantry. Let's just say it's a light-light-light vehicle. :p

Sounds fun like that. Though, they should be a special unit you can get on special levels rather than a light-light vehicle. :)
