Actually the Venator WAS manufactured by Kuat, and designed by LIRA Blissex. Walex (her father) designed the Victory SDs and they were manufactured by Rendili Stardrive (unless you were talking about the Victories when you said VSD, then forget everything I just said!), although I don't remember why they only manufactured the Victories, I seem to remember something about Kuat steeling their plans, or the Empire got rid of them, or someting...can't remember lol...

Yes, the VSD means Victory Star Destroyer. :)

The Venator is just called Venator, because VSD is already taken and is associated with, yes, that's right, the Victory. :D

No problem, mate. :)

We all make mistakes from time to time.

To everyone saying how pretty the Venator is, I say bah... look at it head on... notice if you will a beak-like visage, and those two things on the top... eyestalks? OMFGWTFH?!??

IT IS JAR JAR IN SPACE! Is there no end to Lucas's avarice?

Well the PFF removed venator related posts

??? Very democratic ways i see...

I hope DMUK won't be "forced" to act in the same way.

Obviously LEC is behind the whole story, we know this from the beginning. They made many serious marketting mistakes so far with this current action of post deletion showing how they regard customers/players...

Yes, they don't treat customers/players well do they?

Wether or not we get forced to anything is pretty much up to you all.

Behave, and follow the forum rules, which is universal whereever you go on LucasForums (some parts have an even more detailed Rule Book (so to speak) then the one we have poste for this section), and you'll do okay.

PFF runs their forums their way, we run it our way. But in many ways we operate it the same. You can complain about many things, as long as it doesn't end up being a whine on a vinyl record, with a scratch on it. Those threads will get a lockdown pretty fast.

Forums are for discussions, not bitching and moaning.

I don't know the whole story over at PFF, pretty much only that which you've told me here. I read thru those threads that was linked here, and I could not see any hostility or rudeness displayed by the PFF mods and Admins. To me it seemed they were trying to futily explain the reasons for their actions. The only one who used harsh language was the members.

Anyway, this thread is not about complaints and flames towards the PF Forums. Just leave it.

Sigh.

This wouldn't be a problem if rebels were skilled at boarding/capturing.

The Venator being removed and not the Acclimator is just wrong, and every official source knows it.

Whats the other good game right now that centers around this era?

Battlefront II

What EP3 ship is featured? The Venator

Republic Commando? Venator

Not an Acclimator in sight

Why should it be a balance issue if its a choice of stye? Make them carry less troops or fighters of whatever they are designated to carry, gimp the weapons/armor to corrospond to cost. They can be reduced to support ships (although I think support ships should host a fighter escort when appropriate by build).

Bottom line is this just doesn't seem right. Like someone counting out of sequence.

Well, then BFII is a contradiction to the history of Star Wars.

It's not a new thing that games go against Star Wars lore. It does it time and time again either because the Devs for said game don't know any better, or balancing issue, or it's simply isn't a factor when making the game.

So far, EaW is following (with a few exceptions - Rancor being native to Tatooine comment comes to mind :D ) Star Wars lore as far as they can without gameplay and fun factor getting a serious kick in the sides. Which is refreshing if you ask me. The last game that tried to be according to Star Wars (namely SWGalaxies) ended up being a weird mix of many time periods.

Bottom line is, the Venator was decommissioned by the time this game takes place, the Acclamator was not.

Well to be fair, you cant use a history arguement on a fictional timeline. Lucus himself has not been above changing star wars history to fit his own needs.

As far as the Venators I voted in favor of returning them. Look I love the OT ok no questions ask, hands down. The prequels were ok, now there tech was really cool becuase special effects and so forth are so much better now. But my reason was that there is this whole time period of early empire that we have never seen. The transition for the old republic to a total empire. These are the days of the Imperial senate inwhich the Rebellion grew out of. A move from Clones to Stormtroopers.

Me I want alot of stuff to breech the gap. Me I would have had the Empire start of with mostly EpIII stuff.

If this leaves the Rebels with less stuff, then create some, ok its just a scifi movie game. Some people around here act as if Star Wars were WWII or something. It never happened Lucus was not a war corespondant in a glalaxy far far away. All the stuff from EpIII was made up like two years ago. There making up stuff to include in BFME II perhaps EAW should do the same. Bring in the guys who thought up the new tech and bridage a gap between Rebel stuff in OT to stuff they might have had in the beginning.

I think people complaining about this topic are the real flamers and whiners. I think your posts should be deleted:p If the only thing you have to say is that this post should be deleted on locked then don’t post because you’re the ones abusing the thread. We have a right to a civil discussion about the Venator being removed. If you don’t like the ship, fine, discus why removing the Venator was a good thing. Some people such as me like this ship, so lighten up a bit.

Well to be fair, will the devs at least keep the Venator in the game for the scenario editor? Judging from the screen-shots they already went through all of that trouble to make the unit. It stands to reason they should at least include it in the scenario units for us to use as we see fit?

Well, a game set a few years after Ep. III so we could have the Venator to play around with could be fun.

Problem is, that the Rebel Alliance wasn't formed until a few years prior to Ep. IV. This creates a problem of having a unified side fighting against the Empire. So we're left with one strong side, the Empire, against, well, really nothing. It would be a one sided game. Just pockets of resistance here and there. Not much of a threat until the Alliance was formed.

The best would be a pure Clone Wars era war. Republic against the CIS.

No, the Alliance to Restore the Republic (more commenly known as the Rebel Alliance) wasn't formed until a few years before ANH.

Sure, there were revolusionary groups popping up here and there, but nothing on the scale of the Alliance. And they were mostly concerned about their own parts of the galaxy, not the galaxy as a whole.

The Rebel Alliance was formed right after the Empire came into power. They didn't declare open war until they were strong enough, in EP.4

I have to agree with Jan on this one. Even in the opening scroll of episode IV we see that the Rebel Alliance had just won its first major victory against the Galatic Empire. Implying they had already been in existence for a while. That's proof enough even if you dont want to delve into the EU. And trust me Jan sure knows his EU :p

I have to agree, the rebellion was not strong enough to fight an open war against the Empire at first. However consider two points. One we could still have an Imperial campaign like BF II where as you are the Empire fighting small cells and pirates....call it Trials of the Empire or something. Two, when playing the free style campaign, who cares about time line stuff. Hell right now tech 1 only has aclamators, that anit right. It doesnt matter its only a game. Triarri are not pikemen. Tech 1 could be Early Imp stuff. Just create some cool early, I dont care perhaps EU, rebel stuff and were fine. Its truely a create your only star wars timeline.
