Metal Gear - Ghosts of the Fox

Introductory Briefing:

There is a secret Facility in the South Pole. A massive U.S. weapons research facility devoted entirely to the manufacture and testing of Metal Gear. The Department of Defense claims to have no knowledge of this facility, even though the Crates and equipment sent to the compound are stamped with the DoD seal. NSA agents and several other Marine core opperatives guard this facility. It has been succesfuly kept underground from the media and the public. But that it all endangered now...

A rebel group of terrorist calling themselves 'Ghosts of FOXDIE' have infiltrated the installation and sealed Metal Gear. They have demanded nothing yet but have threatened to launch Nuclear Weapons on key elements of the UN. Solid Snake is no longer an operative of the US Military and can not locate him. It is up to a highly trained team of operatives to handle the situation as quietly as they can. This new team is the New FOXDIE.

What the Department of Defense doesn't know is that Solid Snake and Doctor Hal Emmerich have an organization to expose Metal Gear to the world and have launched an operation as well. The Mission Director is Meryl Silverburgh and the Gene Therapyst is Doctor Naomi Hunter who joined Snake after the Shadow Moses incident. And as Data Analyst is OTACON (Hal Emmerich). As always the mission operative is Solid Snake. (So in the story you might encounter him and even you might be able to control him at some point)

The New FOXDIE is led by Roy Campbell. Gene Therapyst is Doctor Maya Serwing. Data Analyst: Mei Ling. Since the Installation is big and unfit for only one man infiltration, several members from the team have been called to go in.

STORY

Washington, DC – 0600 Hours.-

Two men in suits rushed through the Department of Defense office into the conference room where the Secretary of Defense was lecturing the other members of his cabinet.

- “Third time….Third time this happens…first the Boat, then the Shell facility and now this…not to mention all the previous ones like Shadow Moses. Who gave the go ahead for this project anyway?” – Secretary of Defense Paul Dane said.

- “You did sir…the military contract has your signature on it” – Admiral Crane said.

Secretary Dane sighed.

- “Everyone leaves and only Admiral Crane and Doctor Farrow stay” – Dane said.

The room was empty in a matter of seconds.

- “What now?” – Dane asked.

- “We send FOXDIE in” – Admiral Crane said.

- “FOXDIE? That unit doesn’t exist anymore…not after Shadow Moses” – Dane said.

- “That’s not entirely correct sir, there was a project done after Shadow Moses to establish the team once more, the operative from the Shell incident was one of them” – Crane said.

- “Alright, get them on it…I want to find out who those bastards are and why they’ve taken my Facility” – Dane said.

Admiral Crane left the room. Dane looked at Doctor Farrow.

- “I want you to get your hands on every confidential paper you can get your hands on and destroy any concerning me” – Dane said.

- “But sir…if I get caught then they’ll know” – Farrow said.

Dane grabbed Farrow by his coat and throw him to a near wall.

- “You better nor get caught…because if you do…I’ll pin it all on you” – Dane said.

Farrow got up and left the room. Dane picked up the phone and dialed a number.

- “Yes, get me Roy Campbell” – Dane said.

GITMO – Guantanamo Bay, Cuba – 1300 Hours.-

Kerry Lane walked to the office dressed in her uniform and saluted her superior officer, Colonel Trent.

- “Sit down Lieutenant” – Colonel Trent said and handed her a file marked as confidential and a seal that read “for your eyes only”.

Kerry read the file.

- “So FOXDIE’s first mission?” – Kerry asked.

- “Yes, you are to enter the facility with several other teammates that you’ve met and trained with and take that facility back for our government” – Trent said.

- “With all due respect sir but, why is a health and minimal weaponry research center be so important? Why not blow it out of the water?” – Kerry asked.

- “Because the US government pays you to get things done and not question your orders, besides, I don’t think we want to relinquish one of our facilities so easily…terrorist will start to think they can just bust in and take what they want from our country” – Trent said.

- “So when do I leave?” – Kerry asked.

- “Right now, you will find your belongings are being loaded up to a chopper and you will arrive at West Point for final instructions…good luck and god speed Lieutenant” – Trent said.

Kerry got up and saluted Trent and left the office. The chopper was already waiting outside. She got in and the chopper took off heading to West Point.

Lianne loved disguises. So much so, in fact, that it was rare for her not to be wearing a disguise. Today, she was Lacy Bates. Her hair was waist length and black. She'd gained a little weight in the form of some sort of padding (the name of which she didn't know). Her eyes were displaying as blue thanks to her clothing.

The man on the other side of the table was drunk. Lianne didn't like drinking, but it had its purposes... that man was a purpose. An advisor of the president, he claimed and when drunk, he was giving a bit too much information.

"Listen, Gene," 'Lacy' said, giving the advisor a charming smile. "I just realized it's nearly midnight and I have to go to work in the morning. I'm sorry, but I really need to be leaving."

"Shkip worrrkk," he slurred. "Ssshtayyyy wit meeeee, Laaaaa-cyyyy."

"One more drink," 'Lacy' promised. "Let me get it for you."

She returned with a drink in which she'd disolved a sleeping pill or two and gave it to him. In seconds, he was passed out on the table and 'Lacy' paid for their drinks and walked out. She walked two blocks and got in the passenger side of a small car.

"You're right," she told the driver, dropping the 'Lacy' act and becoming Lianne again, pulling the wig off and tossing it in the back seat. "He talks too much."

"We knew it!" the driver exclaimed. "Thank you again for your services, Miss Payton. Your payment will be waiting for you when you get back."

"Get back from where?" Lianne asked, twitching slightly.

"FOXDIE mission," the driver told her. "Chopper's waiting with at least three suitcases for you. I'm taking you there now."

"Can't I do anything at a normal pace?" Lianne wondered. "Anyone I know gonna be there?"

"Someone you may recognize, but have never met," the driver answered. "Though she'll not remember you. Kerry Lane."

Lianne twitched again. "Sounds familiar. So where am I going?"

"West Point first," the driver answered. "Any other questions you have will be answered there."

Lianne nodded quickly and the rest of the ride was made in twitchy silence.

"In this corner! We have the ferocious Billy 'The Cannon' Halmark! and in the opposite corner, we have the enormous and extremely tall George 'The Wall' Floyd! Are you ready to rummmmbbbllle!" The fight started, Billy charged at George, he threw a punch as hard as he could right in George's face, George was not even phased. George looked at him and with a lazy left hook he took Billy down and out. George merely laughed and then hopped out of the ring. A man in a suit approached him.

"No visitors sir." Said George's coach.

"Nah man, he's my friend don't worry coach."

"Are you leaving again!? can you at least tell me where and what you're doing?"

"Don't worry about it, see ya around coach." George got changed then met the man outside.

"What's up?"

"George 'The Wall' Floyd?"

"Yeah, I like Pink Floyd, good band."

"Anyway, we're off to west point."

"Fun...You didn't bring the van? jeez you know I can barely fight in that stupid cadillac of yours."

"Stop complaining and get in." George grumbled then got in and they drove off.

((Changed Lianne's last name from Wayfield to Payton. :) ))

"There's the chopper," the driver of the car said. Lianne looked, looked away, then looked again and looked away again.

"Fun," she said. "Thanks for the ride."

She got out quickly and shut the door. But just as quickly, she opened it again and reached into the back seat, saying, "Forgot my Lacy wig. Oops!"

Then, she shut the door again and hurried over to the waiting helicopter. Just before she got there, she was stopped.

"You're Lianne Payton?" the man asked.

"Neverthere, come for a chopper ride," she answered, quickly extending a hand that was not shaken. "And you are?"

The man chuckled. "They said you'd ask."

"You guys never answer that question," Lianne complained. "Fine, I'll name you."

She glanced at him and turned a small circle around him.

"You're shorter than the last guy that came to see me," she told him. "I'll call you Stubby."

"I'd rather you didn't, Miss Payton," the man said. "Get in."

Lianne obeyed, climbing into the copilot's seat of the helicopter. The man got in the pilot's seat and Lianne grinned, all the while never looking straight at him.

"I know!" she exclaimed. "I'll call you PilotBoy!"

"Drop the boy and I'll let you keep the nickname," he told her. "And stop twitching!"

She twitched. "Can't. It's me."

"I'll just not look," he muttered. "You're putting me on edge."

Lianne grinned, but said nothing and the helicopter lifted off, heading for West Point.

"Ok this is unbearable, we are driving all the way to west point?"

"Well how else would you rather get there?"

"A truck, maybe a train!" George often joked about his size.

"Yeah well too bad, the chopper was picking up another of your teammates."

"Jeez, he better have a good excuse for getting the chopper..." With that the driver sped up and tried to get there was fast as possible.

A young, handsome man was in a training dojo, wearing a white gi and a black belt. He was sparring with his sensei, easily on par with his trainer's skills. After several minutes, a man walked in, looking for a Leon Wolfe. Leon didn't respond, and did a takedown move on his sensei, knocking him to the ground. He put one knee on his master's chest and one hand on his neck to prevent him from getting up, then looked up at the man, "Yeah, whatcha need?"

"We need you over at West Point. It's a matter of.." he paused, looking at the sensei on the ground.

"National security? Gotcha," he said, standing up and offering his sensei a hand, pulling him up. They bowed to each other, then Leon went to the back room and changed into his black jeans, boots, blue shirt and leather jacket. The man escorted him to the car, which then drove to an airport. He boarded a paid for private jet and was flown to New York. There, Leon got on his motorcycle, which was loaded onto the jet previous to the flight, and rode it the rest of the way to the West Point Academy.

"West Point, huh?" Lianne said, glancing down. Pilot nodded.

"Please be quiet now, Miss Payton," he said. Lianne said nothing and it wasn't long before the helicopter was landed.

"So how many suitcases do I have?" Lianne asked, already opening her door. Pilot glanced back.

"Looks like about eight," he said. "Don't worry. We'll get a bunch of guys out here to get it where you want it. You take what you want now."

Lianne poked her head in and, with a crow of delight, plucked the smallest suitcase out of the pile.

"I'm good," she said. "Where do I go?"

"I'll take you there," another man said. He was bald.

"Ooh, Baldie," Lianne murmured. Then, louder, she said, "Lead on."

Leon pulled into the parking lot on his motorcycle and climbed off, taking his keys and pocketing them, then tapped something on the left handle. A man was waiting for him by the entrance closest to the parking and led him inside the building. Out of the corner of his eye, Leon saw George walking towards the building, and upon hearing the chopper rotors slow to a stop, assumed thats where the other had arrived. He followed his escort, asking no questions.

"So what happens now?" Lianne asked 'Baldie'.

"Now, you meet the rest of your team," Baldie answered. He led her to a large white room with a white table at the center.

"Have a seat," Baldie told her. Lianne shook her head.

"I'll stand a bit, thanks," she said. He nodded and left her alone.

Luca took a long breath and tied the bandana over his eyes, blocking his vision. His other senses immediatley took over as he felt, smelt, and heard the room. He double checked to make sure that his guns were still holstered, and he dove off the haystack head first. He fell for a moment before reaching out with his hand and grabbing the horizontal support beam and hoisting himself up onto it. Luca hooked his legs over the top of the railing and let himself swing over so he was now hanging upside down with his hands free.

He took another long breath.

In the same fluid motion, he used enough momentum to swing his legs off and begin a somersault, while at the same time removing his blindfold with his right hand and drawing one of his guns with his right. He looked around the room frantically searching for the elusive target his uncle had hidden in the barn. He spotted it right behind the top haystack he was formerly standing on and popped off two quick shots wiht his custom 1911's before tucking his legs in and landing on the floor. He heard his uncle shift in his chair as he reached over to turn the lights on.

-"I've seen you do much better luca, what's the matter?"

Luca sighed and rubbed his eyes with his palm.

-"Its the FOXDIE briefing, it's my first mission with other people, aaah maybe it's just nerves. I just hope my skills are up to the test, that man from the US government didnt seem to happy to see me."

His Uncle just laughed.

-"Luca my boy, you're skills are legendary in these parts, remember who it was who drove the wolves off with nothing more than a stick and the clothes on your back!"

Luca laughed

-"Uncle, how many times must I tell you, it was a very big stick."

Luca went to open the barn door, and his uncle stood up as if to say "What are you doing?" but luca raised a hand to calm him. He opened the door and saw a man dressed in a black suit. It was the man from before who delivered the FOXDIE dossier. The man looked puzzled to see him opening the door. Luca pointed to his ears,

-"You government folks aren't very quiet you know."

The man chuckled slightly before motioning to the helicopter behind up.

-"Shall we?"

Luca sighed again and gave his uncle a hug goodbye.

-"I'll be back soon, Uncle. Take care of lucius for me."

His uncle growled,

-"Lord only knows why I let you keep that foul smelling Wolf here..."

Luca laughed again and quickly ran to the door to grab his suitcase, the man stopped him,

-"It's already in the chopper, lets get a move on."

Luca nodded and got in the chopper. The man took a seat across from him, and there was a soldier with a high powered rifle sitting next to the government man. The soldier reached his hand out.

-"Give me your guns, you'll get them back when we land."

Luca laughed

-"I think not, friend, and don't try any funny buisness with me, I can hear your heart beating this very moment, faster than a rabbits I might add. What is this your first assignment?"

The puzzled soldier looked to the man in the suit, and the man just nodded, the soldier leaned back in his chair and gripped his rifle tighter.

-"So where we going?" Luca asked.

The man looked out the window and responded

-"West Point. We'll be there in a couple of hours, enjoy the flight...no peanuts."

The helicopter was extremely quiet, given its size, and all in all luca enjoyed it. He had a nice little nap and awoke to the heavy chopper making landing. He looked at the gov. agent who had an irritated expression on his face

-"Damn, we're late. The boss hates it when we're late."

Luca looked outside and saw various cars and helicopters and even a motorcycle. He wondered how late they actually were. As soon as it was clear, he grabbed his bag and made his way outside. It was kind of windy and his trenchcoat flapped about, slapping against his legs and exposing his weaponry. He pulled it tight and buttoned the clasp before following the agent inside a big building. The agent lead him down a corridor until he opened the door to a large white room with a big table in the center. It seemed as if all eyes were on him as he entered, being as he was the last one in, and it made him slightly uncomfortable, though he didn't express it. He took a seat next to the biggest man he'd ever seen, and waited for "the boss" or whoever he was, to show up.

Lianne's eyes widened as they went from his waist up to his eyes and said, "Whoa, giant..."

Then, she shook his hand as best she could with her small hand and looked up into his face long enough to say, "No, we haven't met, George. I'm Lianne Payton." With that, she grinned and sat down at the table only to get back up again and walk around.

((Curt, Lianne's about a foot and a half shorter than George; she's 5' 2". ))

((Hey Destrus don't forget to post your character profile in the OCC thread.))

Leon leaned off from his corner and walked toward the others, almost as if he came out of nowhere. For someone who's around six feet tall, he had avoided notice pretty well. He offered his hand out to anyone willing and said, "Hey, name's Leon Wolfe." He then went on to say, "I suppose you guys are fellow teammates? Glad to be working with all of you. If you don't mind me asking, what's everyone's speciality here...? I'm an infiltration specialist, I also have some background in the use of swords and several different types of martial arts."

"Leon," Lianne muttered to herself. "Similar." Then, she shook his hand and said, "I'm Lianne Payton." She glanced behind him and pointed to where four men were bringing the rest of her suitcases.

"Disguises," she said. "Disguises of all kinds!"

She grinned, glanced up at Leon's face only to look away. She tried to sit down again, but again, she got right back up when the men came in with her suitcases. Once everything was set down, she went over it carefully. Then, she opened one of them and laughed for joy.

"Wigs galore!" she crowed to herself, plucking a short white wig out of the case. She put it on and glanced around, muttering, "Where's the cane? Cane? Cane?"

She found it and laughed. Then, she opened another suitcase, took the wig off, and put a sweater on. Then, she put the wig back on and grabbed the cane again. Using it, she hobbled over to the table.

"Disguises," she said, her voice sounding rather feeble. "Disguises are..." Her voice sharply came back to normal. "Oops!"

She ran back to her suitcases and pulled out a pair of 'granny glasses'. Then, hobbling back over to the table, her voice wobbling as much as she did, she said, "Disguises are my area of expertise."

With that, she pulled a chair out from the table and sat down. Her eyes, now appearing green, sparkled with excitement and her voice returned to normal. "If you like nicknames better, call me Neverthere. Because I never am!"

She stood and returned her wig, glasses, sweater, and cane to their places amongst her luggage and went back to moving quickly around the room, staring at things that others might ignore... door knobs, light switches, each individual chair.

((And yes, I know she's pretty strange... just trying to expand my writing a bit :p ))

The chopper landed with no difficulties. Kerry got out of the chopper and the pilot handed her a suitcase.

- "I know what this is...if you expect me to use something other than my rifle and other equipment, you're dead wrong" - Kerry said.

The pilot looked at her and handed her bag to her.

- "It's not my call miss, take it up with your superior officer" - the pilot said leading her to the room where all the others were.

Kerry got in and put her briefcase on the table along with her bag. She checked the contents and got her sniper rifle out, she assembled it and took it apart again and put it away. She was not facing her teammates, as a matter of fact she always took sniping as a one woman show. But this time she would have to work with others so she turned around to face them, she took off her hat revealing her long golden hair and she also removed her glasses to reveal her blue eyes.

- "All of you are FOXDIE too eh? I'm Kerry Lane, ranged weapons specialist" - Kerry said.

((Oh yeah. I forgot you jumped ship at the same time I did. lol nevermind))

Leon nodded, "Leon Wolfe, infiltration specialist. If you need a nickname to call me, Shadow Wolf is what my colleagues have fondly dubbed me, feel free to call me that," he said.

With that, Leon took his sword sheath off his belt ((Forgot to mention it earlier)) and placed it on the table, then set his suitcase ((Forgot to mention that too)) next to it, popping it open, revealing his black ninja exoskeleton outfit. He drew the sword and swung it down, then sheathed it and returned it to the table. "Good, blade's not loose..." he muttered, then checked his exoskeleton suit, which was oddly packaged in the suitcase, due to his hard, protective nature, and simply checked it to make sure nothing was wrong with it, then returned it to the suitcase. "Didn't get time to look before I arrived. Everything checks out. Glad things're going smoothly from the start."

He turned back to the disguise specialist and said, "That's pretty good, just how far can you go with those impersonations though? That was pretty convincing but...would ya be able to pass off for say, a male soldier or something?" he suggested.

"Ooh, infiltration?" Lianne said excitedly, glancing at him and looking away again. "I use a little of that with what I do... maybe I could learn some things from you!"

She grinned and, for the fourth time in ten minutes, sat down. This time, she stayed in her seat for half a minute, twitching the entire time. Then, she stood again and muttered something about uncomfortable seats. She heard Leon's question and nodded.

"A short one," she answered, "but yeah, if necessary, I can pull it off."

Leon nodded, impressed. "That's impressive, I knew a few people who were good at disguising where I was trained, but I guess being an infiltration guy it was always harder to fool me, but jeeze, if I walked in and you looked like that old lady, I'dve seriously been thinking, 'what the hell is an old lady doing here? Surely she's not FOXDIE.' That was the best I've ever seen." he said with a laugh.

He then added, "I'd be glad to share any pointers you'd like about infiltration. I can definitely understand how it'd make disguising easier."

Kerry grinned at the sight of Leon's sword. She took out her Katana, the golden hilt and the silver blade were perfect. Kerry sat back down on a nearby chair and waited. A man walked inside the room and looked around.

- "The Director of Ops will meet you in a second" - the soldier said and left.

- "Can't wait" - Kerry said.

Lianne caught sight of the swords and stared. "Ooh," she murmured. "Swords." She shook her head. "Don't see many of those in use."

She pulled out her small twin pistols and her knives and placed them on the table. "Generally, this is all I carry."

She grinned and glanced over at her pile of suitcases. "Surely you all understand it wouldn't be a good idea to carry all that around if I'm trying to hide under another skin." She giggled.
