Obi-Wan vs. Vader Rigged?

I'm betting this depends.

In campaign mode for the Empire, it might be that Vader is given a massive advantage so he can rid the rebels of Obi for the rest of the campaign.

For all other modes, it may just depend on who micromanages the battle best, and who brings the most support with them.

I mean, Obi can force heal, so potentially he could outlast Vader on a 1 vs. 1 scenario, unless Vader does overall more damage. We'll just have to wait, see, and drool.:)

Here's my guess, in the campaign mode, yes the battle will be rigged. I think so, because the victory cut scene is going to have obi wan say "Use the force" most likely. Over at eaw-fr.com they posted victory screens for the campaign showing the millenium falcon. This suggest they follow the ending and have the whole sequence laid out. Obi will die on either the rebel campaign or imperial im guessing. So I suggest using him wisely.

As for galatic conquest, it will work out however they programmed it to lol. Im guessing there is a slight element of chance in hero battles.

didn't even see obi wan and i have finish the rebel campaign....did i miss something?!?!?!

It may be that this all takes place in between Episodes 3 and 4, so Obi-Wan would be in hiding....unless the campaign has Luke in it which would make it very screwed up (I haven't played the Rebel campaign yet).

The game takes place in beteween episodes 3-4, but includes the events in episode 4, like the destruction of the death star.

Obi one is not in the rebel campaing, I just assume he's been killd by vader like in the movie. But I THINK Obi one is in the empire campaing, since I saw screens of vader confronting Obi on e on Tatooine...

I invaded a planet with Vader and came accross Obi. After using force push and crush to kill Ben's escorts the fight was pretty even. Both of them were getting close to death until some artillery rolled up and I had to run away. If I had any escorts with Vader then the battle would have been very one-sided as Obi's heal power works too slowly compared to Vader's push and crush. Vader can remove rebel escorts but Ben has no counter to kill the emperial troops helping Vader. Demonstrating the old addage that the best defense is a strong offense.

edit: now that I think about it, that wasn't in the campaign. Based on what I see here, they must not have actually fought because I didn't see anything special, and the other units present were damaging my Darth. Hmmm, I'll have to try another conquest game. It seems there's alot of things in this game that you won't see unless you play all the different modes a few times. That's cool.

when obi wan and vader fight, units cant help

Right, but you can get in some good shots with the support troops before they fight. I wouldn't take the chance of giving my enemy a fair fight. :-) If Vader was reduced to low health before the battle, but he still beats Ben, then the fight must be scripted in the campaign. Has anyone seen Ben beat Vader in camaign mode? It looks like all the previous posts about Ben beating Vader are in Skirmish or Conquest mode.

I'm about 1/4 of the way into my first Rebel campaign right now. I'll have to use save game to force repeated fights between them and see what happens. I'm not far enough into it to have Ben yet, and I haven't seen Vader yet either.

Someone said that they never got Ben as a playable character in the Rebel campaign.

I think that the campaign may change based on how you're doing because I never got Boba as a player in my Emperial campaign. There was some spoken dialogue between Boba and the Emperor between mission segments, but Boba never entered the game. Boba was asking if he could go after Solo, but the Emperor told him no.
