Rise of the Sith Dominion

"That sounds all good and nice, but lets not get our hopes up. True, he is willing to negotiate, but I don't think co-existance was what he had in mind. Because co-existance is more like a true deomcracy, from what I understand, it seems he wants a hierarchy." Rustic spoke up.

Kin spoke for the first time. "Riebe's idea is a good one, and perhaps this would allow us to keep the peace more easily. However, this would also essentially mean that the New Republic will no longer have control over many of its planets. In other words, it could be the Galactic Empire all over again. And for those who lived during the time of the Rebellion - such as our founder, Master Skywalker - that may seem unacceptable."

((By sith space, I mean one sector. Do your research people. The area of the first Sith Emire was not large and especially is not now when many of the planets have been either destroyed completely or their ecosystems have been raped in the behind by orbital bombardments. It has seven systems, less than 120 inhabitable planets and the Cron Drift, a huge asteroid field. I'm not claiming the whole Outer and mid rim, for god sakes...

Strider turned away at the mention of his Sith past. It was a history he'd rather remain forgotten. He took a breath, then turned and said to Riebe, "Do not question my resolve, Riebe. I do not panic at the sound of a Sith Lord, especially given my experience in dealing with them. But not everyone is me, or you, and not everyone can deal with the fear of a Sith Lord once again being prominent." His fist was clenched, but he soon loosened and regained his composure. "However, I believe you are right. He is willing to negotiate, we should work on a decent proposition to present. I refuse to allow ourselves to be cornered," he said, looking back at the council.

One of the other, more purist Jedi council members spoke after Strider, "So you, both of you Sith Hunters, are suggesting we associate with the Sith? How exactly could you suggest that good and evil can live together in harmony?"

Strider snapped back quickly at the council member, losing his previous formality, giving in to a slight built up bit of agitation, "Do not classify the Sith as evil! There are plenty practical, helpful uses of the Dark Side of the Force, and I say this as a former practicioner of it. Only Sith deal in absolutes, Jedi are peacemakers. If they are willing to barter a reasonable agreement, then it is our responsibility for the better good of everyone to do so!" he finished.

He paused, then looked back at the members of the Council, "You do not know the Light until you have seen the Dark. If he is willing to negotiate, hear him out," he concluded, before quietly stepping to the back of the council room, having had enough to say.

"Well said Flamehart." Rustic said out loud. "Though I may be a master, I do not have as near as muhc experience or knowledge as Master Falmehart here, and from what he has said, I tend to believe him. He speaks truth and wisdom." Rustic said to the council as a whole. "And as you know, we do not have an army, but we do have friends and allies, and like the force, I suggest we use them in our time of need."

Strider quietly dismissed himself from the council room, letting the others decide. He walked quietly out of sight, and to the nearest window. He stood there, looking out at the city. His eyes were moist, memories from his past as a former Sith passing through his head, shedding only a single tear before wiping his eyes clear. He crossed his arms and turned his eyes towards the door of the council room, still listening in on the activities within.

((I'm just gonna put the post down here, 'cause people (Flamehart) have already moved around. I also deleted the post before this.))

Raek Net'ka'din stepped off the side of his dark red streaked Jedi Starfighter and started off with a brisk pace, heading to the council chamber. As he walked up the steps to the turbolift, a Knight said, "Good morning, master. The council is already in deliberation."

Raek mumbled to himself, growled and turned into a jog. His short black hair shined somewhat in the light, and his dark brown robe and black tunic stood out in the normal attire of the Jedi.

Arriving at the chamber door, Raek turned around, seeing Strider Flamehart, a renowned (?) Sith Hunter. He noticed his eyes were a bit wet.

"Strider, you okay?" Raek asked, concern in his voice.

Raek sighed, sensing the sadness in Strider's voice, but he did as he was bidded and walked into the chamber and rested against a far wall.

Raek approached a small group talking amongst themselves.

"Hi, Rustic; guys, and lady. What'd I miss?" Raek said, glancing over at the council

Rustic, still facing the council replies.

"A sith wants his piece of space and if we don't allow it, he'll blow up ossus, now we're trying to figure out his master plan and all that good juciy stuff." Rustic said to Raek. The looking at him. "Where ya been? I haven't seen ya in a while.

"Ahh, I was out on Taanab settling a dispute between the citizens and agricultural bigshots. They became quite cooperative when I came." Raek said, smirking at the thought. He massaged his right shoulder, due to some pain.

As the two younger Jedi chatted, Riebe slipped away from the group to find Strider. Danni watched her go and then interrupted the two. "I don't mean to cut into a mini reunion," she said, "but we are in the middle of a Council meeting here."

"Save your storytelling for another time," one of the Council members agreed. "We must come to a decision. Raek, as you are late, there are a few things you don't know. Darth Tepe, Lord of the Sith has delivered a message to us. He desires that the portion of the galaxy that once belonged to the Sith be returned to their control. If we do not comply, he intends to destroy Ossus."

With Riebe gone, Danni did not hesitate to speak her mind. "While Sith Space is not necessarily very large, who's to say that, once he's got it he won't move on? Has not every Sith Lord to this point desired full control of the Galaxy?"

"The Sith Hunters said that..." one of the Council began, but Danni interrupted.

"They said that Tepe isn't like any Sith Lord before him," she cut in. "I know... but he is still Sith. And despite their age and vast knowledge on the subject of Sith, I think they have forgotten that fact."

"Rustic, Raek, do either of you have any opinions on the matter?" a Council member asked.

----------

Immediately out of the Council chamber, Riebe saw Strider and approached him.

"Strider, I..." she began. With a little sigh, she walked past him and stopped where she could see out a window. "I didn't mean to... I was just..."

She fell into an awkward silence. This was very unlike her. Ordinarily, she was very good with words and always ready to speak her mind. Earnestly, she turned back to Strider.

"I mean, you know how I get!" she exclaimed hurriedly. "If something seems to be slipping out of my control, I-I panic! You scared me in there... and now that I think back on it..." She turned again to the window, almost in tears. "I panicked. It just seemed like..." She sighed. "I had a good point and..."

Tears came to her eyes. "I should never have mentioned your time with the Sith... for what it's worth, I am sorry."

Feeling as if she could not speak to him any longer, she turned and fled, taking refuge on a nearby rooftop.

Raek stepped foreward also.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a battery of guns protecting Ossus? I mean, who in the hell does this Darth Tepe think he is? Negotiating with the Jedi on terms of blowing up a training center? I mean come on! That is the stupidest thing I have heard them say. Yeah, so what if he is this "new kind" of sith, they are all dark. Except for the choice few." Raek remarked, glancing at the door. "If he intenteds to blow up Ossus, then perhaps a-a escort fleet, if you will, be sent there on a," Raek put up his hands in the "" signal, "diplomatic, mission."

He stepped back, feeling as if he had gone too far.

((Very Jedi way, Royal. You seem more of a dark or a gray jedi))

The Senate fell silent when the turn was given to the representative of the Sith Dominion. This was indeed the first time that the Sith had even tried negotiations and the masterplan behind all this seemed to be a quite confusing one.

"Dear Republic Senate. I come here today to issue you a request... Nay, a plea. The Sith Dominion is stronger than you think, senators, and the powers behind it are powerful. However! My Count and Sith Lord, Darth Tepe, is here not to invade like his predecessors. I have been sent here to offer negotiations on the former Sith Space, not including Ossus. However, I have also been instructed to note that Sith Space will be Sith Dominion's even if the negotiations fail, even if my Lord would not want that to happen" the Grand Admiral said and looked around the chamber.

"This is a formal invitation to a delegation from the Republic. My Lord will wait you to send a group of jedi and diplomats for this delegation and ship them over to Tibrin and into his palace. Thank you" the Grand Adiral continued and walked out with the dark jedi coming after him. The senate had been handled. Now they would travel to the jedi temple again to seek their choise. Piece? Or war?

Strider was silent a moment, then quietly strode towards the roof. He should have said something. With his long stride, it didn't take him long to follow her Force signature and find her. He walked with a heavier step once upon the rooftop, alerting her to his presence, and stood next to her, his arms crossed at first. He turned to face her, reaching forward with part of his sleeve clenched in his hand, gently wiping away her tears and looked at her, feeling he owed her an explanation.

"It was..." he paused, trying to find the words to say. His voice was shaken, memories had flooded back into his mind that he didn't need present. He turned to face Riebe, and attempted to speak as steadily as he could, "It was no fault of yours...You saw no harm in the statement, you did not know the events and memories that that time held."

He paused, gazed out along the skyline for a moment, then turned back to Riebe, his voice shaken more now than before. "It was a hard time for me. I had done the unthinkable for a Jedi and I loved another. I was exiled a year after achieving Knighthood, the reason is unknown, and I care not to know why. I had joined the Sith after my expulsion from the Order...Three months later, during the Sith's extermination of a majority of the Jedi during the times of the Old Republic, I frequently was on the opposing side of two Jedi who were very close to me, one of whom was the one I deeply loved. My..." he paused, trying to find the strength to continue speaking.

"...former master was felled by my own hands. I couldn't...I couldn't believe what I had done after it was over... it was like I had woken up from a very bad dream only to find it all to be real...I focused my efforts on saving my other close friend from there on out. Just when she started to believe me and I tried to help her escape...they sprung a trap on us. I watched her die... before my very eyes...I was helpless..." he finished, looking away.

He took a breath, and wiped his face clean. Riebe was the first to see him like this, truly fallen apart.

"You're the first I've ever shared that part of my past with Riebe...It's the one reason I've never been able to meditate anymore, I've never been able to reflect, those memories find their way in when I do. I've held it back for too long...Thank you Riebe, I needed your comment," he said at last, remaining quiet for the moment on.
