"Because I am in charge of this recruitment mission, and your mother seems to think you are worthy to fight for a true cause instead of the one this Kingdom places ahead of you if you choose the path to becoming a Queen" he answered, not releasing hold of his shield or sword. There might not be a reason to fight with her, but the test put upon her in the woods was quite silly. The Rogue had become old and slow, which the Scout had not. He must've looked quite massive to the short female, but he always took advantage on his large build, making it seem as he was clumsy.

"Your eyes reveal your feelings. You want a different path for yourself, like your mother once did. She could've become the master of Guild of the Unseen Rogues but chose to become a warrior instead. She could just be the most powerful human in this world if she had not chosen otherwise. Now it is your choise. To fight me or not to fight me is beside the point, but I do not leave this room without an answer" the elf said and looked at the Lady with a grin on his face.

((Oy! Not the poking stick! Alright, alright! I get home at 7:30 this morning... about 3 hours from now... at that time, or perhaps a little later, I shall embark on a massive post fest and cover all my bases :) Anything to avoid the poking stick of Darth Tepe, Emperor of the Galaxy! (And yes, Tepe, we all know that's where you're headed...) ;) ))

Alaina frowned and sat on the edge of her bed. "The Guild of Unseen Rogues?" She had never heard of it and assumed it was probably because of how sheltered her childhood had been.

((Darn... My plot has been foiled. Back to the drawing board! *walks away with a swing of the cape*))

"Unbelievable... You do not know of them?" the elf said, placing the shield back on his back and sheathing the sword. He then gave an annoyed frown.

"Your father was always a pacifistic fool. He still does not understand that it is inevidable to fight. And I am no storyteller unlike the stereotypes of my people say. But I'll hand it in a nutshell to you" he said and sat down.

"The Guild is one of the largest, most organized groups in the world. Their Guildmaster is currently a half-elf, Aliana Jailaf, whohas turned the Guild into a new direction, a direction your mother could've taken back in the days by usurping power. The Guild is based on the city of Aquinas, near the Northern border of this kingdom, rivaling the Guild of Arcane Magic. The Rogues are currently the best informed, best equipped and most trained organization. The leader of the Guild has immense influential powers and she can even rule one of the lesser kingdoms if she wanted to. Your mother could lead this organization currently if she only hadn't joined us. However, if she would've stayed there, one of the best warriors of this kindom would not have been born" the elf stated and drew his hood back on his head before laning back on the chair and giving a slightly devilsh laught.

"So, I ask you again, milady, do you want to become Queen and perish, or do you want to defend your kingdom before the enemy grows strong"

Eric cocked an eyebrow, and exchanged a glance with his companion Adire, who merely gave a motion similar to a shrug. Eric looked back at the Monk, quite fascinated with the process after he had been stopped. He then paused after what he said in the end, and neared the man on the ground. "A Dragon Slayer huh? In that case we'll dump him in the town and let him fend for himself from there..." The Dragoon turned away, having an apparent vivid distaste for Dragon Slayers. He took the man's armor and put it back on him, then hoisted him back onto the back of his companion dragon. With that, he said little else, waiting for the monk to lead the way to the nearest town.

Inside Alaina's mind, her father and her mother battled.

"The kingdom needs you," her father pressed. "You must be queen when I am gone."

"Of course, the kingdom needs you!" the Rogue agreed. "But if you are their queen, you can do nothing to combat the real dangers. You'll be caught up in the political mess that is monarchy!"

"It's not so much of a mess as it is a puzzle," the King countered indignantly. "You'd like it."

"It would stifle you, Alaina," the Rogue disagreed. "Think of how much you love hiding out, away from the political mess of even being a princess!"

"I don't know if I can live long enough for your little brother to mature and take over," the King offered lamely.

"You'll live to be a hundred in such good health," Alaina muttered to her father's voice in her head. She knew Elves had good hearing and didn't care if Elian heard her. With a weary sigh, she looked up at him.

"Inside my head, my mother dares me to be what she didn't," she told him. "I'll take that dare."

"We shall meet again, then" the elf scout said and stood up, heading throught the window and jumped down the balcony, vanishing into the deep shadows. They would indeed meet later, but then the sun would have risen. The hooves of a horse sounded outside the walls a moment later as the elven Lord left for the nearest tavern.

The monk shook his head as Eric took the lead and stayed back with his halfling companion. He really didn't mind that much about being behind, but more about the intentions of the man. The Dragon Knight would be ready to leave a human being, hurt and vurnerable, to a busy and dangerous town without any problems with his consience. The monk could not think of what caused this evil to pour out. Not even for disagreements between their choises should make it so. A disappointed frown accompanied with a shrug was given to nobody in particular

As the Dragon Knight neared the bustling town, he pulled the slayer off of his dragon, instructing Adire to take camp in the forests, as he often did when entering towns, not wanting to be spotted as a Dragon Knight. He drew his brown cloak around himself, raising his hood. He looked back at the monk and halfling. He could tell the Monk's dismay in his sudden change of attitude, but did not feel he owed them any explanation at this time. He turned to the body of the slayer, getting ready to hoist him over his shoulder and carry him into town.

((This is kind of a queue for him to wake up or either wait to be dumped in the town.))

Raikin woke up slowly. He felt as if he was being carried over a shoulder......

......because he was.

Raikin immediately became concious and put his right hand in his left in a fist and rammed his elbow foreward into the person carrying him. The man grunted and fell to the ground. Raikin stood up and jumped 5 feet away and immediately assumed a fighting position, taking off his helmet, dropping it to the ground.

"Who the hell are you?" Raikin demanded of the man.

Eric grunted. He wasn't often caught off guard like that, and was back on his feet in seconds, his own sword drawn. "I am Sir Eric Aermius. Myself and Eirod," he indicated the monk, then continued, "saved your skin from your fall. I do not wish a fight with your kind, in fact, I'd rather have nothing to do with a Dragon Slayer to begin with," he finished, sheathing his sword and straightening out his cloak.

"Wha?? You-- you're a Dragon Knight?" Raikin said in disbelief, feeling the onsets of a headache. "What are you doing in these parts?" he said.

Raikin felt around his back for the reassuring sign of his sword.

(I assume I still have my sword, or did you relieve me of that and put it on your dragon?)

((He's an honorable knight, he would have left it on his person assuming it was secured to him appropriately. Oh yeah, Adire is already gone too, so you couldn've judged his standing by that, but don't worry, got you covered there.))

Given that his armor, amulet, and sword were reveiled during his scramble, Eric was not suprised this man was able to recognize his standing. "Yes I am, as for what I am doing, my business is my own. The Order of Dragon Knights has long lost its respect amongst the civilian populations due to the "troubles" they claim we bring with taming and using dragons, I would appreciate it if you remain silent about that information. There is little to none of us left due to dragon deaths and civilian attacks, I would appreciate that my association not be spoken, especially by a mouth such as yours, Dragon Slayer," spoke Eric.

With that, Eric did turn to the side and spit on the ground, then looked back at Raikin and said harshly, "You treat Dragons like they are vermin, pests that need to be eradicated. I assume you would be suprised to hear that in Ignitus, the city I reside in, legendary for it's everlasting flames and the former home of the Order of Dragon Knights, has three dragons that live in the surrounding mountains that are in fact symbiotic with the civilians of the town. Dragons are delicate creatures, minding their own business unless aggrivated, but you don't care. They are a pestilence to you, and because of that, it sickens me to associate with one such as yourself."

"Hey! You're no association I would call a friend! Those dragons I kill, have done hanous things against mankind! I do not treat them like vermin. My own brother has a dragon of his own, and I have come to love that dragon as a, let's say, non-biological brother. That lump of muscle, scales, and brains has saved my life twice already. You should really look into someone before making such, accusations!" Raikin said, in turn turning to the side and spitting.

((Heh he. Nice little fight we got goin' here.))

"I did not ask you to call me a friend. I merely did you a gesture of good nature by helping you. Your thanks isn't needed, I am bound by my code to help those in need," Eric shot back. He fastened his cloak concealing his armor completely, and pulling his hood back over his head. "As for "looking into someone," I care little for the inner depths of human behavior. Nobody gives the Dragoons a chance anymore, I'm only returning the favor," he said, and with that, headed down the road towards the town.

Raikin bent down and picked up his helmet, putting it on his head.

"Hey," Raikin said, all anger absent from his voice, "Where you going? If everyone around you doesn't give Dragoons a chance, then maybe I can show you that we're not all alike. Besides, I have a life debt to you for saving my life. So no matter how much you don't like it or want it, I will have to travel with you until my debt is up. And then we'll see." Raikin said, taking a little jog to catch up with the Knight.

The Knight stopped, looking over at the slayer absurdly. "You would risk your life fufilling a debt with me? Should I be identified at any time, I and anyone with me could be a potential target. If you would really risk that to prove your person and fulfill a simple debt, then I can't help but admire that kind of courage," Eric said.

"Ahhh, don't mention it. Besides, I have always wanted to see what happens when a sword or arrow tries to pierce my armor." Raikin said, removing his helmet once again and putting it in his knapsack.(or whatever) "Besides," Raikin said, revealing his short black hair and tanned face, "It's kinda fire proof."

"Oy," Raikin said, massaging his head. "When we get to his town, I need a good strong drink, and a bed." Raikin said, fatigue spread accross his face.

Raikin pulled of his gauntlet and put two fingers to his mouth and gave a shrill whistle. He stopped for a second, seeming to listen for something, and then smiled and kept walking. Beating hooves sounded in the distance. Just then a black stallion came galloping around the bend and, slowing to trot, approached Raikin and started walking beside him.

"Good girl!" Raikin said, stroking the magnificent beast's head. "I knew I named you Aidith for a reason." Raikin said, a tired smile crept accross his face.

Alaina watched the Elf leave and replaced her dagger. Then, she sat on her bed for two hours, considering the choice she had made. In some ways, it made her nervous; in others, she was thrilled. She knew her father would be disappointed, but she also knew he would understand.

The sun began to rise and Alaina left her room in search of her father. She knew he would be awake now. Managing a kingdom was a lot of work, as he always told her.

"Best to make the most of every sunlit hour," she said softly, echoing his common saying.

"Why, that it is," Casion chuckled, approaching her from behind. "But I rather suspect you have not had much sleep, Princess. For you at this time, the most of these first sunlit hours is to sleep."

"I don't think I could, my Lord," Alaina told him quietly.

"You've made your decision then," he said, his voice dropping to a whisper. Alaina nodded.

"I have," she agreed.

"All the more reason for you to be sleeping," the King told her. Confusion slipped over Alaina's face.

"But, I..." she stammered.

"You haven't told me your decision?" the King smiled kindly. "Alaina, I know you better than you might think. When the servants' door clicked shut and a shadow slipped away from it, I knew what your decision would be."

"I... I don't want to..." Alaina began, but her father cut her off again.

"You don't want to completely sever the connection here," he filled in. "If your brother wrecks the kingdom, you want to be able to come back and assert your power."

"I don't think he'll..." Alaina quickly tried to correct him.

"... wreck the kingdom," Casion finished for her. "I know. Neither do I. But if he is killed in battle..."

"Father!" Alaina gasped, completely shocked at the suggestion.

"... you want to be able to take over where he left off," the King finished as though his daughter had not interrupted. He smiled slightly. "I do believe that's quite legal."

"Provided he doesn't have an heir of his own," Alaina amended. Casion chuckled.

"Quite intelligent you are, my daughter," he complimented. "You'd have made quite a queen. You'll make a terrifying warrior. Now get some sleep."

Alaina nodded slowly and returned to her room, where she managed to get another four hours of sleep.

The morning rose swiftly, even if it crawled to some. Five riders approached the castle doors, dexorated in beautiful uniforms and jewelswith gold and silver embroideries. The gatekeepers came forth, bowing.

"My lords, the King is expecting you. Let me escort you while my companion takes your mounts" the other gatekeeper said and walked inside the castle with the elven men behind himself. The group made it's way speedily throught the halls of the castle, only to meet the King on a balcony overseeing the Kingdom's Grand Garden.

"Old friend! We meet again. I hardly saw you last night" the elven Lord said as the gatekeeper bowed and left.

"I think you have met my sons, Enalis and Aelin, and my daughter, the beautiful Alira. And this is my loyal Marshal, Gilidan" he said and pointed with an open palm at everyone behind him on turn.

"I come here today to seek for your daughter and introduce the boys to you better. They will take over while I lead the attack on darkness"

The Monk was quiet and groaned every now and then on the two thick-headed imbesils infront of him. As they entered the town, a single whisper escaped his lips silently; "Idiots..."

He let the halflig lead him, stopping from following the Dragon knight as they would not have the same direction anymore, at least he hoped that it was so. The halfling knew where they wer heading for. The sanctuary his monastery had in the town
