Throne of the Empire

Hey! Yes, its me, Hiroki believe it or not. And I’ve come back with a new RP on my mind. What this story revolves around is a time roughly 300 ABY. It is an alternate timeline from Legacy as well as the main EU timeline to a degree.

60 ABY, the GFFA, unstable and rocked with civil strife, split into several different factions, each with different ideologies. For the next 80 years, these factions waged a brutal war against each other shaking the Galaxy to its very core.

This catastrophic war became known as the Galactic Succession War, and its scars still show even in the current galaxy. Eventually, around 140 ABY the faction calling itself the “Grand Imperial Army” emerged victorious over the others after much brutal fighting. While at first this faction was created with the intention of recreating the Empire of Palpatine, a young army Colonel named Zaimur Kymeri staged a successful coup against the government in 113 ABY. He began following a far less brutal policy than the previous Governor-General, and began appointing military commanders based upon their abilities, rather than purely on loyalty.

When the Grand Imperial Army finally secured their victory in 140 ABY, taking Coruscant from the “Republican Reformist” faction, Zaimur Kymeri was crowned Emperor of the New Galactic Empire. Unlike his predecessors, who wished to recreate the brutal Dictatorship of Palpatine, Zaimur desired instead to create a Constitutional Monarchy that, while still having a strong Emperor as its Head of State, also had a legislative branch with real power. He saw this “Authoritarian Democracy” as the answer to the Galaxies problems.

Indeed, having a strong, but benign ruler that was backed up by the support of the people proved to be a success, and brought stability to the galaxy where the three previous governments had failed.

Zaimur began the long process of restoring the galaxy that had been so badly damaged after 80 years of constant war, and by his death in 208 ABY, he had gone a long way towards repairing the lives of the citizens of the Empire. This, combined with his effective but kind rule of the galaxy helped to secure the Empire’s political stability.

Over the next 100 years, the Kymeri Dynasty effectively guided the galaxy towards healing the last scars of Succession War, and into a new age of prosperity.

The New Galactic Empire has ruled over the majority of the galaxy for roughly 160 years at this point, and has in general been ruled by the benign and capable Emperors from the Kymeri Dynasty. This Empire is far more traditional in its Monarchy than the Galactic Empire, which, despite its Head of State being called ‘Emperor’, remained similar to a stereotypical Republican Dictatorship.

For the past 155 years, the Emperor has served as the nations Head of State, while a democratically elected Chancellor performed the role of Head of Government. The Imperial Parliament, consisting of the House of Commons as the lower chamber and Senate as its upper chamber has performed most of the legislative duties within the government.

This balance between the powers of the Emperor, Chancellor, and Parliament worked well until the last five years, when the last Emperor, Gavyn II Kymeri died mysteriously. His heir to the throne should have taken over, but he was allegedly killed three weeks later when his shuttle suffered a system failure en rout to Coruscant and was supposedly destroyed. Seizing the Initiative in the chaos following the death of the Crown Prince, Grand Admiral Kilum Baralein staged a coup on Coruscant and declared himself as Acting Regent. He claims to only hold the office until a “suitable replacement” for the Emperor can be found.

However, since he took control of the throne five years ago, he has used his authority over the military to undermine both the Parliament and the elected Chancellor, who three years ago he dismissed and replaced with what many secretly call a “Puppet Chancellor”. Atrocities committed against both Political opponents, as well certain species that the Regent finds “distasteful” have become pervasive during his rule.

Originally the Grand Admiral, Kilum as the acting Regent now carries out all of the Emperors former duties, including being the Commander-in-Chief of the military, a position that he has shown he is not afraid to use to meet his political goals.

However, after five years of tyranny under Kilum’s iron grip, dissent is beginning to grow. People yearn for the peace, freedom and liberty they had under the Kymeri Dynasty, while some speak of rumors that the Crown Prince survived the supposed destruction of his shuttle. This rumor has gained a strong underground following, and, still supposedly unbeknownst to the Regent, a small ragtag group has formed, with the goal of overthrowing the Regent, and returning the Crown Prince to his rightful throne. Right now, this group is extremely small, staying underground in the shadows to avoid the Regent’s secret police. Its leaders know that in order to overthrow the regent, the Crown Prince must be found. Only then can they hope to garner significant enough support for their cause to have any chance of overthrowing Kilum.

On the Mid Rim world of Bimmiel, a small team of skilled individuals has been formed by the Kymeri Loyalists to track down the Crown Prince and return him to his rightful throne…

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Factions:

(New) Galactic Empire

Ruling over the vast majority of the known galaxy, the Galactic Empire has survived for over 160 years, making it the longest surviving government next to the Old Republic. Emerging as the sole victor of the Galactic Succession War, the Empire has brought peace and prosperity to the Galaxy under the reign of the Kymeri Dynasty. Things remained stable until five years ago, when Grand Admiral Kilum Baralein staged a coup and seized the throne as Regent. Now, the once benign rule of the Empire has become a brutal dictatorship under Kilum, whose Secret Police murder any and all political opposition to the Regent that dares to surface its head, while the military carries out acts of barbarism against Species he holds disdain for at his orders.

New Jedi Order

After breaking off its affiliation with the GFFA following the Swarm Wars, The New Jedi Order has taken a strictly Neutral stance in terms of Galactic Politics. No longer does it feel obligated to any Galactic Government, especially after the collapse of the GFFA. While the official stance of the Jedi Order has been neutrality, Kymeri loyalists have been in contact with certain “Grey” or Rogue Jedi who are more open to their plight.

Kymeri Loyalists

The Kymeri Loyalists are a small underground organization bent on finding the Crown Prince who they strongly believed survived the supposed destruction of his shuttle, and restoring him to his rightful throne. The Kymeri Loyalists as of now are an extremely small ragtag group that is thinly spread throughout parts of the galaxy. They are forced to keep a low profile because of the Regent’s Secret Police, who constantly probe suspected planets for political dissidents.

Technology:

Being set at roughly 300 ABY, technologies have progress quite a ways from the old Galactic Civil War days. However actual progress may not be as high as one would probably expect, as the brutal carnage of the Galactic Succession Wars caused a temporary stagnation of technology, which only really began to end after the war itself was over. This resulted in actual technological levels being lower than they would have been had the Galaxy remained peaceful. However progress is still significant from the classical timeframe.

The cloning of limbs has been legal for roughly 120 years, thus decreasing the popularity of prosthetic replacements, however some still prefer them for their enhanced strength. Other than this change, the fundamentals of how the Galaxy works have not altered very much at all.

Outline:

The basic idea is that you are a part of this special team that has been assembled by the Kymeri Loyalists to find the Crown Prince. Character types can be a wide range of Star Wars species and professions, but please, while we may have one or two maverick/Rogue Jedi in the group, I don’t want a team of Jedi. Be innovative and create unique and skilled characters of various classes, so don’t just automatically go ‘OMG Jedi!’ without thinking it over first. ;)

At the same time, I’m hoping for at least one Jedi-ish character in the group; so I guess it is first come first serve in regards to that. :p

I’ll likely introduce a character for myself later in the RP, but until then, I’ll be controlling both the minor and major NPCs and simply be playing the role of Narrator.

I'm going to try and have the first part of this follow a very KOTOR-like adventure theme, but in its own unique way.

A long time ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away…

The sun gleamed brightly in the blue sky of Bimmial as the heat of summer swept over the planet, having driven most of its predators towards the polar caps. However, deep within a nearby mountain pass lay a small base containing several modest structures and a small landing pad, only big enough for a single shuttle.

Despite its small size, the base was extremely active this day, as its occupiers rushed to prepare the shuttle that was docked for its upcoming mission.

This base belonged to the Kymeri Loyalists, a ragtag band of rebels opposed to Regent Kilum Baralein. It was one of several bases scattered throughout the galaxy and despite its small size, was actually one of the larger bases that they possessed.

Within the command structure near the center of the base waited a small team of talented individuals who had been assembled by the Kymeri Loyalists for a very special mission, though none of them were yet to be told what that mission was exactly. They had all been led to the building and told to have a seat as they waited for the bases Commander to enter and brief them…

A man sat on the edge of the table, wearing a crimson red armor with a nearly black bodyglove beneath it, similiarly to that of the Imperial Knights. There was also a long, black cape hanging from the shoulderpads of the armor. The armor dated long back inthe man's family and it looked it's age, looking worn out, damaged and otherwise bruised. There was a blaster hanging on his right side and a force pike grip hung on his left. Other of his weapons included vibroshivs in both his boots, a vibroknuckler in his right gauntlet and several thermal detonators with even plasticine thermite found in his utility belt. Other items were also around, including electrobinoculars, clips for his blaster, detonators, tracking devices, bugs and other stuff important for an agent of a small resistance.

He looked at the others in the group and groaned before putting on his headset that consisted of mostly just another headset except that there was a small screen infront of his left eye and a small scanner on it. It also had the standard comlink connection via HoloNet and security measures.

"What's taking him so long?" the human asked and groaned again, his hand twitching a bit. He wanted action and it was showing like fireflies in a pitch black night. He was a veteran of several battles against pirate organizations and he had been trained specifically by the men of his Corellian family in the ways of a Knight. He wasn't exactly a knight anymore as his whole family was kicked out of the organization because of their pro-Kymeri views after the new "Emperor" had taken over. He missed the days his name was honored and not only by the fellow Knights. Grudo "Shadowfox" Matres was his name, the son of Fulio Madres, the former leader of the Knights.

((If you don't approve the whole Imperial knight thing, I'll delete it. However, just so you know, I don't mean the Imperial Knights in the way that the EU means them but more in the whole Royal Guard way))

Neutrality was overrated, Andrea McKellan repeated to herself. The tough, slim, and quite short blonde Grey Jedi was safely behind the shelter of an enormous pillar, waiting for a break in the blaster fire on the other side. Not for the first time, she reached out with the Force, trying to locate her lightsaber.

"Where is it, damn it?" she muttered. If it weren't for getting captured she'd still have her lightsaber and this would be a hell of a lot easier. But she'd been captured and they'd taken her saber. With an amused smirk, she reminded herself why she'd been sent to infiltrate this military base; she was very, very good at escapes.

Suddenly, a flicker of movement caught the corner of Andrea's eye and she turned her head slightly. There to her right, a single brave soldier took aim at the escaped prisoner. Mentally scolding herself for missing him before, Andrea took hold of his blaster rifle with the Force and gave it an abrupt yank. The soldier let out a cry of dismay as his rifle landed squarely in the hands of the enemy.

"Gun!" he screamed. "She's armed!" And a bolt flew across the room, slamming into his chest. With a cry of pain, he crumpled.

"Three..." Andrea murmured, reaching out into the Force, sensing the locations of her opponents. "... two..." She shifted slightly, cradling the blaster rifle. "... one!" She spun out from behind the pillar, firing the rifle rapidly six times. Six soldiers dropped to the ground, lifeless from Andrea's expert marksmanship.

"Just like I knew what I was doin'," Andrea grinned. She slung the rifle across her back and took a pistol from one of the dead soldiers. And the sound of an igniting lightsaber caused her to turn.

"Well, well, well," the man said cheerfully, waving the dark green lightsaber back and forth. "If it isn't the pretty little Jedi come out to play."

"You don't know how to use that," Andrea chuckled, gesturing to the lightsaber.

"Don't I?" the man sneered. Andrea grinned and used the Force to rip it from his hand. The cool, silver hilt landed solidly in her palm and the man backed away, startled.

"No," Andrea answered. "You don't." She deactivated the saber and smashed the hilt into the man's head. He crumpled to the ground, unconscious and Andrea clipped the saber to her belt. "Now to get out of this mess..." she muttered, running for the nearest exit to the room.

(( Character is good, you can be our Jedi then. But she should be at the meeting, so try and get her there in the next post. ;) ))

The Knight sat still like a statue if a frown escape from him. The dimly lit room made him nervous after a mission to arrange an arms deal between BlasTech and the resistance. It was an ambush and his whole team except for a talented ex-jedi and he died. After that both of the survivors were praised for stealing a cargo ship of blasters from the Space station while escaping. Of course they just took the first ship that was there to be taken, which just happened to be full of weapons. Afterwards he has been quite awkward in dimly lit conference rooms where you actually needed to wait for someone, even if it were your superior officer. He leaned back in his chair slowly and looked around at his fellow team members.

"I don't like this. What could hold up the General this long? I haven't waited this long for the general ever" he said and groaned in his awkward position before straightening himself up again. He was tired, wanted some action after all the paperwork and such had taken all his time for the last week. He was sick of waiting around for anyone, yet he could just walk away from the resistance as long as he knew his true leader was out there somewhere, waiting to be found and restored to power

(( Sorry for not posting another storyline post yet, I was just waiting for others to join, but if nobody else has by tomorrow I'll continue forward and they can join later on. ))

((Since Tepe left his 'ex-Jedi' helper unnamed, I'll say it was Andrea :) ))

Andrea slipped into the conference room just as Grudo made his complaint of the general's absence. She chuckled slightly and took the seat next to the Knight.

"Guess I'm not the only late arrival, then," she said lightly. She nodded in Grudo's direction. "Nice to see you again, Knight Matres. It's been a while."

"Aye, but still too short. You seem to always bring trouble when the other party sees your lightsaber" he said and rolled his blaster up to his hand, polishing the barrel with his cape and then holstering it again with a circular motion around his finger. Shadowfox snapped the headset's screen back up and looked around at the team.

"So, we got a few rookies with us again. You guys better be good 'cause we're not gonna teach you from the scratch, eh?" he noted to the rest of the team before straightening up in his chair a bit and grumbling about the General's still clear absence. He knew grumbling like that could get him a couple of hours of standing alone at the barracks with full combat gear, but he had done it so many times his legs were probably the strongest ones in the whole resistance movement by now

Andrea smiled slightly, but said nothing to deny his statement. When he grumbled about the rookies, she chuckled softly. "I think they've likely learned by now we don't work well with rookies," she told him. "After all, I'm sure you haven't forgotten what happened last time they stuck us with kids."

((Decided I didn't like calling her 'Andi'... she's Andrea :p ))

"Well, if we're expecting action this time, they won't put kiddies with us. I hope we'll start the real search for the Emperor soon. I can't wait to get back at that bastard Kilum and his new Knight leader" he said and turned to see Andrea again.

"So, how have you been doing then? Anything exciting or paperwork like me?" he asked with a grunt at the mention of paperwork. He had grown to hate reports for the rest of his life

Andrea grinned. "A very, very small amount of paperwork," she said, "typically only before and after a mission... something along the lines of them not being responsible for anything I do, and the missions being fully under my control, blah, blah, woof, woof..." She smirked. "But mostly, it's been action." She leaned back in her chair for a moment. After squirming there a little, she nodded suddenly.

"Forgot that..." she muttered. Leaning forward again, she pulled the rifle she'd taken during her last mission off her back. Turning to Grudo, she set the rifle down in front of him. "During my last solo mission, I got captured... go figure, I know, but I had to get some kind of weapon 'till I found it, yah? So I picked this up." She grinned. "Kept it too... thought maybe you'd like a little something to toy with in whatever spare time they give you... y'know, rework it, make it better or whatever..." She shrugged and leaned back in the chair again, this time much more comfortably.

((hope its not too late to join))

Allen sat there with his feet up on the table leaning back into the shadow. He finally took them off and leaned forward in his seat to reveal his rough looking face, stubble fresh on his face and a bionic eye.

"No need to teach me anything sir, I assure you, I won't low you down." He said with a wink from his real eye. He then leaned on the table to reveal one bionic arm that appeared to ahve all sorts of gadgets inside of it. Among the gadgets were a vibro knife and blaster.

(( Okay! Perfect, three people is a good starting group. Though I hope more will join as the story progresses, and no, Curt-man it is not too late to join. It’ll never be “too late” to join. And I just noticed Keno was Darth Tepe, lol. Hows it going? ;) ))

After having waited for a few hours, a small wooden door near the back of the room opened, and a man in pseudo-military uniform walked in. Anyone who had been working with the resistance for any extended period of time would know him as General Tarion Aldrecht, one of the top 3 leaders of the resistance, just below Supreme Commander Mathius Stoma. He quickly surveyed the group, before moving forward to speak to them.

“Welcome to Bimmial boys. She may not look like much, but we’re safe from the Secret Police here.” He spoke in a deep and very authoritative voice. “I’m sure most of you know why you are here, correct?” He said once again glancing over the room.

“You’ve been selected for a mission of the utmost importance, a mission to find our rightful Emperor. His precise location is sadly unknown. All we have to go on is information from our informants about possible sightings. We have worked tirelessly to narrow this list down into the three most likely locations…”

He said, as he pulled up a small holographic map of the galaxy. “They are: Garos IV, Ploo IV and Thisspias. We have reliable information that points to the rightful Emperor being on the planet at some point recently. You are to find out if he is indeed still on one of these planets, and if so, contact our informant on that planet for further instructions. The order with which you choose to explore these planets is up to you, as the Emperor could be on any one of them. However once you find him, it is urgent that you contact the informant immediately.” He finished, looking over them.

“Now, are there any questions?” The General asked, arching an eyebrow.

"Why us? You know I'm almost fanatic to get the Emperor back and can do anything to do that, Andrea is an ex-jedi abd threathens people just by his presence now that the Secret police are investigating all Jedi actins on their planets and the rest of the team... Well, I don't know them. Why should I trust them?" he asked, leaning forwards in his chair and placing his hands on the table

The General looked squarely at Grudo. "Because you are all the most suited to the task at hand. You know the resistance hardly has any men to spare, we have to keep a low profile to evade the secret police. You are all the best men that the resistance has right now, and you WILL work together. Its the only way we will be able to find the rightful Emperor."

The General sighed slightly, looking around. "If there are no further questions, then you may leave. Your shuttle is waiting for you on our landing pad. It already has the coordinates for the three planets in its nav computer. Shadowfox, as the one here who likely saw the Crown Prince the most, will be in charge of the mission. Good luck out there, dismissed."

The General finished as he turned and headed back towards the door, exiting the room.

"Bah..." Grudo grunted and stood up, grabbing the rifl and looking at it. It was almost antique and not from the most reliable ends.

"Tell you what. I'll fix this into prime condition and tweak it a bit with modern parts and then give it to you. I have all the parts I need in the shuttle amongst my gear" he said to Andrea and then left the room. He walked to the shuttle quietly, not minding the rest of the group asking him question or talking amongst themselves. Once he got onboard the shuttle, he walked to the cockpit and set the computer to calculate the distances between the planets and the base. They would go from nearest to farthest.

"Someone pilot this thing. I've got better things to do" he said as he walked past the group and sat on a chair in the lounge. He took his gear and started to work on the blaster with not much enthusiasm. The screen connected to the database onboard the shuttle that was linked to the HoloNet and he saw clearly details about the components inside the blaster unless it was modified.

"Antique... Bah... Couldn't get ten credits for it" he grunted and put his legs up on the table, relaxing while tweaking around

According to the computers Starcharts, the list of planets from closest to farthest from Bimmiel goes in this order: Garos IV, Ploo IV and Thisspias. The shuttle has been prepared while the team was being briefed and is ready to take off as soon as someone takes the helm.

"No quick volunteer pilot?" Andrea asked, looking to her left and right. "Very well, then. I'll handle it... give me something to do."

She went forward to the cockpit and took a seat. After powering up and getting clearance to depart, she lifted the shuttle gently and directed it up into space. A few moments later, the shuttle launched into hyperspace toward Garos IV.
