What are you listening to right now? (Part 2 - Read first post!)

Speaking of Metallica, I have a cover of Seek and Destroy done by Agent Orange, a So-Cal Punk band known for their experimenting with Surf/Punk. I have their first album Living In Darkness, its one of my favourite albums :) The cover itself is done in their pretty unique style, complete with surf-style drumming :)

What's wromg with you people Metallica is the most overrated band ever. They only have 2 good albums and those are Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning. Beyond that some songs from other albums are enjoyable but the rest is ****ty.

NP:

Blizzard Of Ozz - Crazy Train

Love the intro

Dude, the last person to talk about Metallica directly was Grey Master. You should rephrase that opening sentence, otherwise people might feel insulted, like me for instance.....well actually, not really.

Anyways, I'm currently listening to Gyasi Went Home by Bedouin Soundclash, They are a Canadian band whose sound is kind of a mix of reggae/soul. Good stuff!

Didn't Eddie Van Halen have something to do with that too?

It's called 'differences of opinion'... last I heard it was still OK for people to have them. :p

But I do know a lot of other hardcore metal guys who really, REALLY hate Metallica for some reason. Never quite understood it myself, but whatever...

Land of Confusion-----Disturbed

This is one of my favorite rock bands, this song has a feel like it belongs from a video game, and its very nice to listen to.

Thanks for posting this info. I have heard this version of "Land of Confusion" quite a few times on the radio lately, but I didn't know who did it until now. Even though I like the original version by Genesis, I like the heavier edge that Disturbed gives the song.

Anyway, right now I am listening to.....

Me Against The World by Lizzy Borden

The reason I like it so much is because it isn't a very hard song to play on the guitar and it is a great heavy metal anthem.

EDIT: about Metallica......I used to be a fan. I liked every album from Kill 'Em All through the Black Album. Then Load came out. I thought the title was short for "Load of S**t." I never cared for anything they did from that point on. However, I really began hating them so bad over that big tizzy they spearheaded over the original Napster. I think they lost a lot of fans over that. Even Motley Crue came out and called them hypocrites because in the beginning, Metallica gave away their music as a promotional tool to get themselves heard. They sold out, plain and simple. I don't even want to listen to their early songs now because of it.

It wasn't very large

There was just enough room to cram the drums

In the corner over by the Dodge

It was a fifty-four

With a mashed up door

And a cheesy little amp

With a sign on the front said

"Fender Champ"

And a second-hand guitar

It was a Stratocaster with a whammy bar...

Zappa... hell yeah, Zappa...

What more needs to be said... other than the world could really use him back right about now. His point of view on world events is sorely missed...

Oops... just switched to Cheap Trick - I Want You To Want Me (Live) - At Budokan

Also very excellent...

Nirvana - Heart-Shaped Box.

I learned, Thursday, that my girlfriend's doctor found cancer cells in her breast. Fortunately she was smart and talked to her doctor and they detected them in time that it shouldn't be too serious. But it's still scary. When I heard about it, I immediately started thinking about the line in this song where he says "I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black", just running on repeat.

I've recently delved into my dads old cd collection and found a few that I like pretty well. So I've been listening to Eric Clapton, Genesis, and Santana a pretty good amount the last week or so.

Right now I'm listening to Abacab by Genesis.

Pull Me Under - Dream Theater - Images And Words

Still the best of all the prog-metal bands in my opinion. I worked a show on the tour supporting this album. I didn't know any of their music at the time, but they held my interest the entire show. These boys can play...

I just learned that Within Temptation is about to release a new album, The Heart of Everything, next month. Seems like they will mix their typical symphonic metal sound with a few more "normal" rock songs this time. I rarely ever pre-order anything, but this is one exception. :)

Since I like almost all of their music this put me in the mood to listen to a marathon of older Within Temptation songs:

From the Mother Earth album I listened to the ballad Our Farewell, a great song that gives me some celtic associations for some reason, and Ice Queen and The Promise which both are more typical of their style of symphonic heavy metal.

Further I listened to See who I am from The Silent Force album which has a very high goose bump factor.

Running up that hill, a great cover of the old Kate Bush song, from the single with the same name.

I rounded off with Restless from the Enter album, another ballad with great singing from Sharon, the band's lead singer.

(The above linked youtube live clips I dug up to illustrate have rather poor sound quality, but should still give some idea of what they sound like. :))

*Moel is jammin' to The Beastie Boys - The Sounds of Science

From their album Paul's Boutique. Its probably my least favorite album of theirs that I have, but I like this song fairly well.

I have iTunes on shuffle mode, so previously I've been listening to I Can't Stand It by Eric Clapton, You Know My Name by Chris Cornell, and Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie. I've only recently gotten into Clapton but I've turned out to like his stuff. I haven't heard any other Chris Cornell songs but I love this one, the theme to Casino Royale. And David Bowie is one of my all-time favs.
