Dear developers.

 

I like the way the game is going, but one thing really is bothering me - why no word on the animation issues? Ever since the NGE launched the animations hasn't adjusted to the faster combat speed, it looks terribly unrealistic compared to what we used to have. I would like to know if you also see the current animations of the game as an issue, and intend to fix them in this year?

Way back when JtL was in development and you were planning to introduce the new Ithorian species, they had a different body structure and were going to require new clothes and armor. At first you weren't sure that you were going to have much dev time to create much in the way of new clothing schematics because the original process was, I guess, fairly intensive. Then sometime shortly before JtL went live, one of the devs, I don't remember who, but it was probably someone in charge of art, stated that they had come up with some new system for creating clothing that allowed them to create new designs more quickly and easily. As a result, when JtL was released, Ithorians had some of the best looking and most diverse clothing in the game with some new patterns and styles that no existing clothing had. As a tailor at the time, I know I was looking forward to seeing the same technique used for the Ithorian clothing applied to creating new designs for the other races. That's never happened though.

 

It seemed that you were able to create the wide array of Ithorian clothing in a fairly short time frame (a month or two it seems like, but I could be wrong). Do you still have this improved technique for producing new clothing? If so was it just for Ithorians, or can it be applied to the other races as well? If you do still have this system, couldn't it be used for creating some new schematics in a reasonable time frame?

Given all the continued requests, and the greatly diminished post-NGE subscriber base, why can't we get some pre-NGE servers? I think I speak for many when I say that this would bring myself and others back to the game. The NGE, frankly isn't the game I bought and paid for, I don't like static classes, I want an open skills based game.

 

Classic servers would go a long way to repairing a lot of the massive PR damage both LucasArts and SOE have suffered in the face of the NGE and how it was inflicted upon us like a sucker punch from the blind side.

 

Not to mention, look at the subscriber numbers pre-NGE, and those post-NGE. Wouldn't you like to have both?

 

I simply don't buy that it's impossible or too expensive to do. Start with a couple servers with no promises of updates, and see how it goes. If subscribers come back, then there is the money for maintenance and even updates. If they don't, you are out nothing, since the code is already there and just needs to be uploaded to a couple spare servers that you already have.

The NGE removed a number of features and non-quest content that have not been replaced in the months since. Expertise and some other minor systems aside, it's fair to say that SWG development has slowed to what appears to be a maintenance level. Jump to Lightspeed, for example, has barely been touched since its release despite (or due to) its status as the most polished SWG component.

 

While another NGE-level revamp would not be welcome, players are eager for a sign that content is coming, animation glitches are being fixed, new art assets are being created, and more players are being given a reason to play.

 

Does SOE and LucasArts have a plan to increase the resources available to the SWG team to accelerate game development, provide more things for players to do, and put SWG back on a growth path rather than an attrition path?

I came up with another one:

 

Back in the original SWG manual, for factions, it said that you could convert faction points to experience points, this would give faction points a use again. Any plans for that to become a reality? Also in the manual, it said that if we ranked up, we would be allowed to call Shuttle pickups, and that the respective rank would be shown on the faction uniforms. This would make GCW alot better than it is right now.

Player Cities

Hi my in game name and forum handle is Afet. I have been a Swg player for 33 months. As a long time mayor and guild leader I have noticed that there are no in game filters for player charactors on either the city terminal or the guild terminal. With people coming and going and the current guild cap at 500 player charactors I was wondering if you will at any time consider filters such as last date logged and alphabetic and better guild and city management options in order to manage player charators from a guild leader or mayor stand point.

 

With the introduction of 2 charactors on the same server it is tough when a guild gets as large as mine (426 player charactors) to manage to any extent the deleted charactors or accounts or people that quit for good.

 

Since you doubled the number of charactors per account it is nearly impossible to keep track of alts of active players to know who is gone and who is active. Further more with the introduction of 2 charactos per server the effective guild cap is pretty much cut in half it would be great to have guild member cap increased as well.

Do you have any plans to upgrade the npc or pc cities with more futuristic stuff from Star Wars movies?(landing pads on buildings, skyscrapers, elevators, more computers to manipulate, droids, tools(hydrospanner) etc etc etc. I want the futuristic feel like when I'm watching the movies. Some planets feel plain and dull, like this is a fantasy game and its not. Are there any more plans for space, ships, original clothing, and helmets? Are we getting atmosperic flight or collision?

I would like to ask when and how the low server populations are going to be addressed in a meaningful way. Servers have been underpopulated for over a year now and new players find it hard to find other players. The NPC cantinas (places that used to be the hubs of the community) have been marginalized and an overly-liberal attitude towards the number of player cities has caused the community to be spread out too far. Something desperately needs to be done about these problems.

 

If it was up to me I would ban placing a house outside of a player city and lower the limit on player cities. This would reduce the number of hub areas and would make players go through these reduced 'bottleneck areas' more frequently, making the game seem more populated. This in turn would enhance the new player's experience because he would see more players and interaction would increase.

Basically i wanna know, what if anything is gonna happen to the Ghost towns of the game, its sad to see places like Daobra Gerful, Mos Espa, Anchorhead etc.empty, desserted. I liked to see players return to the cities other then Mos Eisley.

Is anything going to be done about this? any incentive to have players return to the smaller towns and cantinas? :)

Hello! I am Awoha of Radiant server, and I will use my free 21 days to get back to the game when Chapter 6 is released. I would like to ask you, developers, some little questions:

 

1st- I would love to get some new content for mid lvl 45-70 to get levels quickly because it makes a little boring level up at this levels. I think that hunting groups in some hivh level planets like Dantooine would help a lot this game.

 

2nd - Content for high end, a difficult instance in Danthomir or Talus like Geonosian Lab or DWB were. Or a new theme parck like Gungan underwater city or a thing like Aurillian Village ( I loved that quests, they were so original) It is something like that going to be added soon?

 

3rd - I would like to see cities like Theed or Coronet full of people again, now Mos Esley is the most populated but there are lots and lots of people that stay out of the cities because there is no reason to go there and I think that the community that SWG had was the best I have ever seen, and it will be amazing to see lots of people another time.

 

4th - Will , we, the players who are not subscribed at the moment get our houses completly removed from the game when chapter 6 releases?? I think that getting them at the datapad would be great.

I do have a lot of questions...

 

The game although it does have many bugs IS HUGE! I can understand how it can take a long time to fix certain issues as i'm sure you guys are harassed about stuff all the time.

 

I was wondering as was stated above about animation. I am a jedi now and I will go through fighting something and a good 10 seconds after I kill or am killed my animation for force lightning fires... whats that about?

 

Is there going to be more space content? Frankly space could be amazing! It does look beautiful but it needs work. Escort, destroy or take over.... there needs to be more....

 

If there is to be an expansion is there going to be more planet(s) added? If so is it going to be linear like kash or is it going to be open like the other planets.

 

Why is kash linear?
