I'm not into the customization of the skins. Certain colors did mean certain units. It helps identify what a unit is. If I'm looking at someone across the map... I can see what unit they are by their color. If you're talking different rebel uniforms... they had specific garb for certain conditions.. it should all be the same uniform for the planet/conditions they're in... IMHO.

 

yeah, i just thought of something cool. it would be nice to be able to change your weapons on your ship.

 

I kinda like this idea. Maybe more choices when switching positions in a ship/vehicle as well.

yeah well there should be more room on these ships. again i say laat/i gunships hold 20 troops so the troops on it, (you me or anyone else) should be able to shoot from it. shoot missiles, throw grenades, shoot our guns, etc.

1. Jedi should be as avaible to the republic has a jet trooper, but like in BWF2 with pop limit.

2. The separatist should have Grevious's bodyguards with the electostaffs to counter the jedi. with faster reflexes to counter their lack of force powers

3. The ARC-170's should have the rear turrent

4. At-te's and At-At should be on more maps

5. more maps

 

I no some of this stuff may have already been posted but, this thread is getting long

I'd like to see more maps for sure. There would prolly be some repeated from SWBF2 though. Which isn't too bad in some cases. I like the Kamino in SWBF2 better than Tipoca City in SWBF1. I wouldn't mind seeing a hyped up Bespin: Cloud City map in SWBF3. I don't know why they gave that a pass in SWBF2. I thought it was one of the better maps. I have to play the converted version from GameToast (which works well). I just would have liked it when I bought the game..

 

I would have rather seen Bespin Cloud City in SWBF2 over Jabba's Palace for sure. I was sick of JAbba's in SWBF1. Too many mine crappers in Jabba's... so then you get nothing but engineers throwing dets. If bots are on.. you just lay mines down and rack up your score with gamoreans tripping on the mines.

 

It's too close quarters for a good game on Jabba's. It is nice if everyone goes sniper. Then you get more practice dodging and bobbing behind walls and doorways. It becomes more of a "game". Another good way to get the most out of Jabba's is to go pistols only. Granted... tough in a public server.. but would work well for a bunch of friends all on the same page.

the actuall locations from the movies. like kashyyyk. in episode 3 that awesome area that they were figting in with the bunkers and trenches it should be that. not a wall and a generator u have to defend. and different legions. like pick the 501st or the 492nd on any level or w/e. i had something really good but i forgot. ill post back if i think of it. i thought of something else. more abilitys for a hero. like vader can have force choke, saber throw, throw people(new one, like actually hold them up in the air and throw) and force push. and palpatine, lightning, choke, pick up people, force pull. also more weapons for other people. like greivous. he can have his sabers, the blaster he had in the movie, or the lightning rod he had in the movie also. same for the bodyguard dudes they can use their lightning staff things instead of the bulldog RL i hate that thing. and different costumes for heroes as well. another thing, fight on star destroyers and other cruisers, like go through the whole ship, not just the hangar and that little area with the critical systems. something else. pick up other peoples weapons. like if theres a tank and ur a sniper and a vanguard or a tank trooper dies by u u can pick it up and use it till u die or u get rid of it.

Okay: to the tackling of points.

 

CUSTOMIZATION. First, we should realize that we're looking at two different types of customization being discussed here: Superficial Customization (tan vs green vs black clothes, shoulderpad thing or no, color demarcations on Clone armor e.g. the 501st or 327th or 21st Nova Corps, etc) and EQ Customization (choosing what sort of weapons and armor and equipment each individual non-AI unit would have).

 

That said, I think EQ Customization would sink the multiplayer version of the game into a mire of indistinguishable min/maxers who just pick the best weapons, and the singleplayer version would no longer have that "just one of the grunts" feel because the player would be customizing in ways that no droid or imperial or clone was ever allowed to, except maybe the most elite of heroes and generals.

 

And as far as Superficial Customization goes, while I don't see any real harm in most forms of it, I'd rather see broader and more sensible customization than super-individualized stuff. For example, I could see setting every map, whether on a server or on single play, so that the skins were chosen for each side involved -- say, let's have Clones from the 327th fighting pale gray droids on this map, but on the other one let's have green-camo rebels fighting, well, the standards Imperial troops. Which is the main problem with this: the Imperials will have very little in the way of customization at all, unless one wants to ignore canon and the bulk of the EU completely. And really, the rebels and the droids would mainly just get color-changes to their wardrobe. Seems easier to just let each map have a certain set of skins associated with it. Though I do get tired of only playing the 501st on standard maps in BF2. And I think it would be nice to be able to switch between, say, a male and a female for each unit, or a droid and a Geonosian, or a human and some other species, while the other features remain the same.

 

 

TAKING PRISONERS. Interesting idea... sounds like it might be complicated, though. What would be done with the prisoners? What would be the benefits of taking prisoners? What would a player's options be if they were taken prisoner?

 

 

MORE COMMANDS. I agree on this one -- BF1 was much better with its 4 different commands, I am baffled as to why they changed it for BF2. I was even thinking that maybe, instead of "At Ease", they could introduce a new command where you direct specialists to do their thing: Heavy Weapons units lay mines and look for vehicles or turrets to take out; Snipers set out auto-turrets and start sniping likely targets; Engineers dispense health and ammo, and make repairs on nearby vehicles, turrets, or droids...

 

 

EU ELEMENTS. I tend to think that some EU elements would be fine, if used with a light touch. Adding elements from the most popular or most near-canon sources would be a good start -- the Republic / Clone Wars comics, for example, or some of the less outlandish elements of the Thrawn series? Having a Honoghr map, for example, with Quinlan and Aayla in the CW era, a Jedi Leia and maybe Pellaeon in the GCW era, and the Noghri as a universally hostile third side... well, that might be less alienating for the unfamiliar than full-out EU context-shift like the Yuuzhan Vong would be.

 

 

RIDE CREATURES. Sure, though of course only on suitable maps; and actually, lots of mods have ridable creatures, though more would be nice. Dewbacks, bantha, etc, sure.

 

 

GEONOSIS ARENA. There's already a mod map out there that does this -- though it's basically just four CPs on a flat round area, nondescript Jedi vs. regular droids. I have plans for a more elaborate and interesting version of the Geonosis Arena...

 

 

SPACE-TO-GROUND. This sounds like a great idea, and I was initially quite in favor of it. Actually, it IS a great idea. But from what I know, it would be almost impossible in terms of what even an Xbox360, PS3, or a pimped-up PC could do. Running what amounts to two or more large map battles at once? With elements possibly crossing over and affecting each other? And potentially with the expanded Capital Ship interiors we'd all like to see? I think that's just asking too much.

 

 

I'm ALL for skins matching the map as per the movies or other sources, as I wrote above. I love the mod maps by ValiantOfficer, in his Critical Moments map-pack - Felucia with Bly and the 327th in yellow, Mygeeto with Bacara and the 21st in purple, Utapau with Cody and the 212th in orange, etc.

 

 

HERO DUELS. These definitely seem to be something that would fit better in a different game. If they were included in BF3 I'd want them to be optional, so you could go into the settings and decide whether you wanted them or not.

 

 

WEAPON & ARMOR UPGRADES. I assume you meant something different than the weapon and armor upgrades you get in BF2 through the medals and awards?

 

 

MULTIPLE CAPITAL SHIPS. Another great idea, and it might not tax the RAM and processor too much... in fact, I think there are one or two mod maps that have this already for BF2.

 

 

PEOPLE DISLIKING HEROES & JEDI. I have to say, if you don't like them, don't play them. I can definitely see how some people might tweak the settings to the point where the Jedi and Heroes get annoying as hell. But just don't play on those servers, you know?

 

 

MORE MAPS PER PLANET. Another idea I'm all for. I really got annoyed with the whole BF2 thing where there's only one map per planet for the most part.

 

 

MIX AND MATCH WEAPONS & GEAR. This just sounds like a bad idea, as I mentioned in my comments above re: EQ Customization. You'd just end up with a bunch of min/maxers with Rocket Launchers, Sniper Rifles, Mines, and Jetpacks. Egh.

 

 

The Old BF1 loading screen? Right on!!! Bring it back.

 

 

Gameplay like Republic Commando? Er... why don't you just play Republic Commando? Honestly, I don't understand why so many people seem to want Battelfront to be more like some other Star Wars game. That's why they made separate games, folks.

I agree! I hope it is not like Republic Commando. I like how the first two were. They just need to add more star wars vehicles, starships, planets/locations, troopers, etc. Here is what I want to see:

Why no one ever suggested this i dunno why but if you watch cartoon star wars i cant beleive i forgot the name but ALL the clones went under water and kiked droid but under water! and it would be a great chance to giv ummmm I CANT BELEIVE I FORGOT HIS NAME! well h can go under water and hes awsome but anyways it would be an awsome space lvl except under water and clones all got jet paks so they could go under waterit could be like combined space and land

Well, some generic jedis would be cool. Oh, and yes riding steeds like TaunTaun is cool IF YOU Can attack while riding. Yes, shooting on a steed would be fun, like dewbacks and what not, maybe even rancor.

 

A bit more non story/canon related maps would be nice either. Things like shooting at each other on dathomir.

I would like it in galactic conquest, first, obviously, to be more playable maps. next i want to be able to customize my fleet. or something like an acclumator is the default ship in the fleet, carrying a load of say, 150 troops. then i can buy venators, with say 200-250 troops each, along with any number of support crafts, (requires a fleet to create). next in space battles if a ship is destroyed then what ever troops it was carrying are lost from being used in land battle. this way i can gather a large fleet with like a million troops on it.

for land troops, bunkers and so one can be built to increase the number of troops on that planet. also larger auto turrets that can be built. invading armies start off with their ships at high altitude over the surface and squads of gunships are sent down to secure a landing zone for quicker reinforcements.

back to the ships, the ships should be more like they were in the movies or whatever. ie Star destroyers' hangars are at the bottom of the ship, instead of the side.

each faction should have its own uniqueness that gives it an advantage and disadvantage over other factions. like droids can sprint longer but arent given that extra will to fight when it looks like all odds are against them. or maybe clone troopers have better accuracy but have less armor. then, since the republic has jedi academies all over the place, jedi knights would be playable like a unique unit like a droideka.

there should also be maps that require gunships or other transports get across due to dangerous terrain.

and last but not least, AIs that don't know your exact location when your sniping from the other side of the map. or at least not so precisely

I think that bodies should stay throughout the battlle, but you can blow them up with a grenade, rocket, etc...

 

You should also be able to pick up other weapons, I mean if your a soldier, and a heavy trooper gets blown up by a spider tank, are you gonna go at it with grenades?

No you pick up the guys rocket launcher. :launcher:

i think it would be kool if the AI also got the adward weapons. since it appears that the 16 AI on your team act as different people actually playing, it would be cool if they also advanced in rank and got award weapons, so i'm not the only one playing with a advanced rifle or whatever.

 

and still on that award weapons, i think that the award weapon should be better than the original on every aspect. for example, i dont understand why the advanced rifle has less ammo. and although i haven't got it yet, the remote rockets for heavy trooper doesn't seem all that better if it is no longer a guided missle, I for one am horrible with remote rockets.

Here's my ideas:

 

1) Ability to start on planet but than able to get in a ship, fly off into space than atack multiple enemy crusers. Than going in 1 with a bording party fight ur way to the bridge than acctually take over the ships controls and flying it! :vsd: I mean how cool would it be piloting the invisible hand!? (Greivous's main star ship.)
