that woman has no say, as she hasn't played the game!!!! She's one of those that would rather have the government run what kids can access than have the parents BE INVOLVED in their children's lives.

That's like 'the sims' for instance, my mom refused to let me get it cause of that 'mature sexual themes' part of the esrb. Even though i kinda disagreed at the time, i'm glad that my mom payed attention to the ratings. I HATE seeing kids (15 and under) picking up copies of games like San Andreas, Max Payne, etc. and their parents not caring until they see some lawsuit-happy parent come across on the tv about how "bad" the game is.

We need rid the world of games because they are triggering the violent sex offender gene that's present in all Men!! Lol

Don't you just love badly informed, feminist, ignorant, news-fill!

yeah especially when she basically accused all boys of being perverts. that's sexism for ya.

Sorry, but I have to say...

Stupid B*tches are Stupid.

(And no comment is definitely not gender specific, esp when the guys do seem even dumberer in this case. Though that militant feminazi sexist B*tch would get the No.1 award.)

Fact: Some peopel have not idea what videogames are.

And you think those chipmunk n00bs are annoying when it comes to videogames. I suggest giving everyone on this planet a basic training of the gamers world. Make a a 2 month course or so. And that may just do the trick. I mean, I am sure none of these people have ever played ME, or any other similar games for that matter, let alone finishing ME, or hack, even backseating thru a few hours of the game. Its like commenting a book/movie without ever watching it (I would accept critics backseating thru a game if they are really "finger motion challanged" and the game sdoes not provide a real easy mode).

I've been following this for a while, and it's sort of fun. The woman had a book on Amazon, it got spammed with like 400 1-star reviews and lots of hate. EA called Fox out, but Fox responded that EA was called to defend themselves on a show, but they didn't reply. The *******s at Fox don't realize that EA doesn't want to budge - they want the lazy asses at Fox to play the game and correct the show by themselves.

On the same note, Fox is doing this because it's easy: Games are now popular enough to be known to mainstream, but aren't as common as music or movies. The games industry is the most unpopular one, and so it's easy to take a jab at. Put Sex, Parental Awareness, and Lies from that idiot's blog on the Internet whose name I don't even remember, and you get a great show.

The only other theory is that this is an elaborate publicity stunt from EA to make their game more popular, seeing as the competition they're up against is Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 (which beat Halo 3's sales).

I love how none of them what the **** they are talking about. :p

An AO rating? It says that there is PARTIAL nudity and sexual themes. There are many games that have more than that and they are rated M. And the fact that you can completely bypass it. I'm sure that us young male teenagers have other ways to access nudity/porn/sexually-explicit images in other methods as well. I'd be a lot more worried myself playing Gears of War rather than Mass Effect. ;)

I'm sure if the kids are doing it in the game, they're doing it in real life. These people need to focus on more important issues, like their 13-year-old going out gangbanging.

But...Lucrezia is normally such a good girl...Surely she wouldn't do something like that in real life...it's all the fault of the nasty, manipulative games - they've permanently scarred her sweet, innocent nature...

I find it hilarious to think on the reality side of this...

Any idea what the middle school kids who aren't sitting around playing through 30 hours of gameplay and dialog choices, trying to get their character sexed are doing?

They are hanging out with girls at school, making the same dialog choices (probably a little less corny too) and getting laid before they can even fill out a condom.

That's life morons.

Fact 1. Family guy has more sexual content than mass effect.

Fact 2. Most disrespectful attempts to acquire sex in Mass Effect lead you to saving the galaxy as a virgin.

Fact 3. In the time it takes you to reach that point in the game (heck, finish the "tutorial") you could be in bed with a member of the opposite sex that actually is interactive.

Fact 4. If you do not work for it you do not get it.

If I was EA/Bioware I would be snatching up the best attorneys available and prepare my bank account for a nice little influx.

Media like Fox News will only allow their side of the story to be told anyway, so here's what I would do...

Offer an exclusive interview with a rival network to discuss the "heinous slander" which a media outlet has used to try and hurt sales of my product...

Offer solutions of either a Lawsuit or the network apologizing, providing me/my company a 30 minute uninterupted (love how the only expert got about a minute of time and was dropped before the discussion) interview to address the lies about my company and actually discuss how the problems brought up by the original panel can be easily solved (if you don't want your kids playing with your toys lock them in the gun cabinet with the rest of your toys). Finally I would require that all parties liable for the damage to my company will beat the entirety of Mass Effect on insane difficulty as well as acquire every achievement so they can understand the sheer amount of creative time and effort put into the work of art that was dragged through the mud on their network. This will be recorded to prevent someone else playing it for them.

P.S. Fox News hates Ron Paul

yeah. they do.

edit: it's the same as guns, if you want it you can get it wether or not you're allowed to have it.

Did no one else enjoy wonderbra adds in the paper when they were knee high to a grasshopper?

I knew there was a reason why I don't watch Fox News!

I haven't played Mass Effect but I've read and seen enough to know that there is partial nudity in the game and the opportunity to have a sexual encounter with an NPC, hence the reason the game was rated M versus KotOR which was rated T since it only had an implied sexual encounter (I'm sure there are other reasons for the ratings difference between the two but just to illustrate differences from the sexual aspect). In any case, just another reaffirmation for me how any news report from the media should always be considered from a very critical perspective.

It seems rather apparent to me that nobody on the Fox News segment actually witnessed firsthand the alleged "full digital nudity and the ability for players to engage in graphic sex." What is "full digital nudity" anyway? Maybe BioWare should have used only "partial digital nudity" or maybe "full analog nudity" would have been more acceptable to them.

And who is the chick that says:

I'm not sure why it didn't get an Adults Only rating. That's the highest rating it can have so first of all this board that rates them needs to have their head examined. And this made me feel old watching this. What happened to Atari and pinball and Pac-Man?
:eyepop Obviously this woman who looks to me like she is in her early 30's hasn't played any games since the mid-80's. Again, not someone who I would consider qualified to comment on the moral virtues of current games. *Sigh* It's just so hard to find objective news reports these days.

The self-help author that they had as the random "expert" on this feature has since seen Mass Effect being played and has apologised, the NY Times is reporting.

Too little, too late, if you ask me.

EDIT: Lmaoooooo some of the Amazon reviews that gamers have spammed are priceless.

So after Amazon removed my other review on her new book I figured I'd stop by Borders AGAIN so I would have some material to bash this one now. I really didn't want to open another of her books (for safety reasons, and I do actually value my long term mental health) so I just read the back cover. NEARLY WENT BLIND. Seriously, I was so dumbfounded by it that I stumbled around Borders in a semi conscious state for 10 minutes trying to figure out what happened. If I had actually been coherent I might have ran out to the food court to dunk my head in a vat of boiling peanut oil at the Happy Wok to try and get the image of her words out of my head. Apparently she is just as good as portraying negative False stereotypes about men as she is about doing the same with video games. I could probably find a homeless vagabond and pay him with a bottle of Jim Beam to write a more responsible and accurate piece of literature.

RJM your political viewpoints dont need to be in this discussion... >.>

Atleast the squinty little cow has the courage(?) to apologize for her stupidity... Id like to see some other people I could name, but wont, do that. :3

Probably didn't even play atari, pinball or pacman.

Probably sat in the corner brushing her doll's hair and accused pacman of being pornographic.

LOL No, shed accuse Ms Pacman of being sexist because shes represented as wearing a bow! A bow... you know because its such a feminine thing to wear. Shed rather have Ms Pacman wearing a business suit and chasing the ghosts with gelding tools. hehe

 She made me lol.

Does she realize they play rated R movies on a lot of channels at like... 8pm (if not all throughout the day)? I don't see her off having a conniption fit about that. Or the semi-graphic rape scenes on Law & Order: SVU 12 hours a day on USA. Also accessible to children who know how to use a remote control. Should we ban Law & Order? (Oh god, please say no... I'd be so bored :().

I also think she underestimates the amount of 20+ folks playing video games. But that's because she doesn't have the slightest clue what she's talking about, so...

I actually don't really blame the author. She was at fault certainly, and if I was her, I personally would have declined to comment on Mass Effect if I hadn't played it - and I certainly wouldn't have jumped to the conclusions she did. But then, I'm smart, and I know a few things about the gaming industry. And sometimes, unfortunately, people are just born without any common sense. But she wasn't really being malicious.

I definitely do blame Fox for putting her in that position to begin with, though.
