I just have to point out how awesome it is that one of the tags for this thread is "orgasm."

I will not let the thread that we have been waiting for for nearly 10 years get derailed on the second page. If that happens I will hunt down and kill the person who is responsible for the derail.

And talking of "derail", which, let's face it, kind of rhymes with "jail", did you know that there's a Disney Jail and that Disney are EVIL? Observe:

Seventeen year old Terri Dorsett was at Disneyland with some classmates when one of them, unbeknownst to Terri, dropped a Mickey Mouse pen into her bag. They were stopped by a Disney security person for shoplifting. Even though the other girl readily admitted that Terri had nothing to do with it and she had dropped the pen into Terri's bag as a 'joke', they were both taken to Disney Jail, fingerprinted and not allowed to call anyone (remember, these are minors).. Terri's dad ended up spending $15,000 to fight charges which Disney insisted on pressing, all the way to court before Terri was acquitted.

And, to discredit what I was about to say (which was "and it isn't one of those themed pirate jails either"):

New York social worker Vicki Prusnofsky was stopped and questioned by two Disney Security Guards after they saw her leave one of the shops wearing a Mickey Mouse pin and earrings. Which she had bought on a previous trip. They searched through her bag and found a roll of film she had just bought - but for which she didn't have a receipt. They went back inside the store where the cashier vouched for the fact that Vicki was just there and had indeed purchased the film. All is well' date=' right? Wrong. She was hauled off to Disney Jail, fingerprinted, strip searched and put into a cell with "[u']whores and thieves[/u]" for hours.

So it probably is one of those themed pirate jails... but real

Guys... the graphic is very very important, its the second thing after story, because you look at all the environments, characters and animations whole game. And its adventure game, and they must have great art!! It must be excellently join together. I know, Telltale makes new episodes...more like MI5, but If you noticed, since MI3 the design of Guybrush was changed three times. The real Guybrush, who everybody knows is only in MI1 and 2. Thats the real Guybrush! The other guys are more like his cartoon comic cousins :o/ Its like, nobody knows, how he supposed to look like, all the designers are running in circle as confused mouse. I know, its low poly and poor looking graphic, because its made for Wiiware (40mb), but then the PC version should look different. If I jump back to Lucasarts new version of MI, that one is really bad. Compare Telltale, they made hand painted backgrounds, but they look WORSE than original game in 1990. So poor, undetailed, smudgy brushy, looking kids kind of drawings. Guys, its year 2009, millions of fans is looking foward to see great remake, with new coat, new animations, very impressive art directions, but what we got? just old scanned images, without any real artist touches, animations arent fluent, Guybrush's hair looks totally weird, he is so skinny, that you cant even see his face, his walking reminds me skiing, all those pirates designs looks like characters from Starwars TV show and I could continue like that ... forever. Thanks god, they havent changed the story! What they improved is couple features in gameplay, then music and voices, but the art is crap! PERIOD George Lucas kick 200 people out, because of the economy crisis...and here is the result. Probably, he though, he will save his company by making legendary game, but they failed even its not finished yet. And look at the Indiana Jones, how long they have been doing that game? Longer than Gears of war 2 :o) ... ok, I dont wanna go to far, but ...for me, they failed.

How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

OH- em... sorry... I mean... you are entitled to your opinion. :) Yarr.

I actually agree with you about the TMI graphics not looking like Guybrush...although CMI is still my favorite...HOWEVER, the glee at all of the MI stuff coming out is overwhelming that... and agree on the voices for SMI redone being awesome.

So which one are you guys most anxious to see?

Paprika,

Let me begin with I started with MI 1 back in the 90s so I have been a big fan on MI1 and MI2, however MI3 was my favorite, see screen name. I never felt like the guybrush of MI3 wasn’t the same guybrush of 1 and 2. So with that said I don’t so much like the guybrush of MI1 special edition but do like the look of him in Tales.

Now here is the doozy I don’t care how the special edition looks as long as the story is unchanged and it draws in new fans of the younger generations. See here has been my problem I have introduced MI to dozens of people – most younger. I try to start them out with MI1 and MI2 but they loose interest because of the pixels and the interface but most of them really got into MI3. I still swear if they got into the story they would have been hooked. I say give us a talkie version, work on the plotline for the sequels and leave the graphics of the special edition to the judgment of younger fans. The graphics on Tales on the other hand concerns me a little bit but I haven’t seen enough of it to judge too harshly yet and I thought they did a good job with Sam and Max and Strongbad. As long as they get the plot right Ill be a happy skull :D

Yoha,

At first I was more excited about the special edition but I am getting more and more excited about Tales…and maybe *crosses fingers* a proper appearance by Murray!

Oooh, true!! A good Murray appearance would be worth it.

So hows this working then? I hear something about them being on download first then on disc? Anyone clarify?

If they do it like they did with Sam n Max, it'll likely be episodic, so you'll get new episodes coming out every month or so and you'll pay for each episode. If you pay for the full season, at the end of said season, they'll send you a disc with all the episodes on, or, you can just wait until the end and buy the full season.

Sort of like a TV show, you can either watch all the episodes as they air, or wait till the end and buy the DVD box set.

;)

You should look at these images, its adventure game how it supposed to look like: http://www.gamershell.com/pc/ghost_pirates_of_vooju_island/screenshots.html?id=407536

Bill Tiller, who worked on MI3 as a background artist still keeps his great skills for real fans of adventure games. MI-special edition from Lucasarts compare to Bill Tiller games, ..haha... there is nothing to talk about, Bill Tiller is total winner. No doubts!

I agree with you, Ray.

At first I thought Guybrush looked like a heroin addicted, big chinned moron, but I'm slowly seeing him more as Guybrush. The game kind of looks like a 3D CMI, it's brilliant. Way better than EMI.

Also, don't feed the troll.

  • 3 weeks later...

If you compare huge company as LucasArts and very tiny just starting company as Autumn moon Enter. you can see that AME is doing 3x better job than LucasArts. So, AME should be crying about budget, not LucasArts, but everything works opposite way. To get great sound quality and voice overs is standard at this century, and ruined legendary adventure game because we cant afford good artists is stupid excuse. If you look at all those european adventure developers, they are doing great job and they arent spoiled by money. Seems to me like LucasArts doesnt have anymore good art leaders and managers.

That tends to happen when a company becomes successful enough to get shareholders. When Lucas Arts first started, they were all about quality gaming, but as companies get bigger and richer, more people have more at stake so they have to think about making money instead of making good quality games.

Thus, Lucas Arts will continually churn out Star Wars games and Indiana Jones games as they're sure to make money and thus, keep everyone happy... apart from the gamers.

Game developers don't put the desires of their audiences second to their income... well, I mean, they do... but not in the sense you're saying.

Yeah, their paramount concern is money, but the main contributing factor to their income is obviously the happiness of gamers, therefore, their paramount concern is the desire of their audience.

Joshi, you said that they're trying to keep everyone happy but the gamers. This isn't true; they need to keep the gamers happy in order to keep everyone else happy.

Yup. As I said before; Lucasarts are releasing these games becasue the adventure gaming genre has become popular again = more audience = more money.

That's true... but why the hell is that a bad thing?!

If a guy gives a little girl an ice cream to impress her mother, the little girl has an ice cream. Who cares if the guy's motives were off? She has an ice cream.

A ****ING ICE CREAM.

DON'T YOU SEE?!
