Epic Pictures. (use 'hidden' tags for 56k users, please)

Recommended Posts

Note: In order to make this thread easier for 56k people to view, I'd prefer it if people put their pictures in hidden tags, so that people can select what to load, making the page load more gradually. Also, if you can't view an image (too big, etc.), just right-click to properties, and visit the page where it is originally.

I was looking through these forums, and I noticed a singular lack of epic pictures. By epic, I mean not the slang definition (awesome, etc.), I mean pictures of things on a grand scale or containing something of heroic proportions (which generally end up being awesome anyway). Though honestly, if there's a picture so awesome you're dying to share it, you might as well. I won't object. To get us started, I'll post some.

Star Wars has its share of epic (note the AT-ATs' sizes in comparison to these):

Space itself is epic:

And no epic picture thread would be complete without steampunk or giant monsters, so here's a picture with a combination of both:

So, anyone else got some?

I'm speechless. I almost feel as if it's pointless to continue this thread, since you've gone and one-upped anything that can possibly be posted.

In order to make this OT, a picture (retrofuturistic airships? Hell yeah!):

I think those giant walkers need a little more firepower, I'll bet they have hidden weapons and such but i look and see the quad-blaster and single cannon I just think Dang they could bolster so much weaponry on there

Look closer, there are dual barreled turrets in front of the front legs, a turret on the forward haunches, and a weapon emplacement in the lower rear. ;)

Also, in Liverandbacon's first picture, what is the name of those massive six-legged walkers? I can't find any mention of them on Wookieepedia.

I'm pretty sure the artist just made them up. However, I may be completely wrong, so if anyone else knows, please tell.

I just call them "Oh no, we're gonna need some much longer snowspeeder tow cables".

I suspect the topic creator frequents deviantART - am i right? i recognise all three pictures and they are indeed epic. the creator of the first in particular is one of my favourite artists on the sight, his paintings are amazing. i'll dig some epic pictures up in a bit.

What also looks like some Anti-air turets on it's top as well.

Epic picture. Do want.

Yeah, I spend some time on deviantART and CGsociety. Radojavor does have some awesome stuff. For instance:

The hidden tags arent entirely helpful - *all* the images still are loading away in the background. (Ive only tested this in FF)

Anyway, here's few from me -

The first 3 are 'Star Warsy' - as per the thread theme so far

1. Martha StewartRhett and Yoda fans in general should like this one ;)

2. The Battle of Coruscant was a jaw dropping spectacle in ROTS, especially that bit where the jedi starfighters loop around the Republic Destroyer after the opening crawl... phaw !

Spacebattle_wall_1280.jpg

3. Just a potrait shot, but epic in sybolism. Anakin was never on the Bridge of the Tantive IV in ROTS, but someone though it'd be cool to take a pic of the future Vader in the spot where he would make his famous entrance in SW ANH. Love this pic ;)

The last is a bit of mildly unsettling humour -

4. Given the liberal use of the 'V' word in recent podcasts, I have no compunction in putting this here now ;) Truly an epic effort by mum and dad...

I'm going to bring my SLR down here after I go home next so I can get some better pictures, The camera I took these with is pretty old now but takes a decent picture. Right now I'm split on either buying a road bike or a really nice DSLR.
