Although I really love his look in Tales and I almost wanted to give it the nod, I gotta go with the classic MI2. Even his sprite looks great for such an old game. Worst is definitely EMI.

I think he looked best in the second game, and it was the most funny Guybrush. Pity he didn't have any voice...

 

I voted worst for EMI, mostly becasue I generally didn't like that game as much as the other ones.

Same. Don't know why, but I remember MI2's Guybrush the best, and it's the one I like best.

MI2's Guybrush was best, all due to his trenchcoat. He probably has a blunderbuss concealed in the right-side pocket.

Yes, I changed my mind over the last two from that other thread. I agree with Thunderpeel, the SE version Guybrush is plain-out unforgivable.

Monkey 2 is my favourite, thought he just looked like a more interesting character and the lame beard was funny as hell.

 

I voted Escape as the worst not for any design reasons, it just wasn't a great looking game character-wise. Although I LOVE how he looks on the Steve Purcell box cover!

 

EDIT: Also I love the SE GB more all the time, just hate the cover art version (horrible smug grin and hair looks terrible).

I know I'll get crap for putting SE above Curse and original. I love how Curse looks but am still not overly fond of the skinny beardless GB in continuity. Wish he had kept his coat and beard.

I still love all of the Guyrbushes; just not overly fond of the new Tales of Monkey Island Guybrush compared to the others (although I still do like him). For some reason, he just doesn't seem like Guybrush. Looks a bit too emaciated.

 

I really liked the EMI Guybrush, though (disregarding technical factors).

 

Also, I agree with what parabolee said about the SE Guybrush (welcome to the forums, by the way).

The BEST, MI2 by far, without any kind of doubt. It's 2009, 18 year after MI2 and I'm still impressed with the detail level (and animations) of those pixelated sprites. Just take a look to the expressivity of Guybrush's face in just 10x10 pixels... THAT'S ART!

I like the MI2 version the most, Curse comes in close second, really cool style.

MI1 is simply what Guybrush looks like when he's not cartoonified, however IMO a cartoony style fits MI more.

Tales seems to be moslty a mix between 2 and 3, I guess it takes a little getting used to, but I like it.

Guybrush from Escape, nothing special really, I think his hair is just a little too poofy, but it's true to his style of hair.

 

I really, really don't like the new look of Guybrush in the Special Edition. His face I can live with, but the hair is just rediculous. They didn't just give him a new hairdoo, they gave him new hair! And I think the arguement that Guybrush looks different in every game doesn't apply here, since it's MI1 we're talking about here. They should just have made him cartoony, and leave his hair in the same style as he did in the original. /rant

I posted the same poll over at the TellTale forums (a lot more people to give a response!) but it's interesting to see the similarity in results!
