To go way back several pages of this thread...

I don't think graphically it matters much if Guybrush doesn't appear to age. I'm 29 and I look almost exactly the same as I did when I was 17. And I didn't look old then.

Intriguing! Can we see a photo?

(And welcome to the forums!)

Yes I would, if you can find the way to rip the sprites. Mainly, just Guybrush's walk, talk, pick-up animations so I could use them as reference. Also Little Guybrush for MI2's ending. CMI LeChuck's Revenge is more plausible than CMI SMI due to the increase in animation frames for walk cycles.

Which sprites do you mean? the MI ones, MI:SE, MI2:LR or CoMI?

Here are sprite sheets of guybrush from MI 1, 2 and 3:

the sprites from the special edition can be extracted from the game with the tool that was posted some time ago in the fileformats thread in the scumm subforum

That third one is what I was looking for! The MI2 sprite sheet will help too. There's no pickup animations on the CMI spritesheet . I can live with that. I'll just draw them from scratch.

I wonder if a cartoon "outline" filter on the new MI2SE backgrounds would give it that "CMI" appearance.

In my opinion, you can always tell when an outline filter has been used because in reality, artists don't tend to draw their outlines with the level of consistency that the filters show (and also the filters tend to apply the outline to anything with an edge, which means every texture and artefact will have a thick black outline on it). I don't think I've ever seen any cartoon/outline filter being pulled off effectively.
