Looking For Some New Bands

Recommended Posts

I don't know exactly what you're into, but if you're looking for stuff you might not have heard of... Modest Mouse, Interpol, Death Cab For Cutie's old stuff, Built to Spill, Franz Ferdinand, Peter Bjorn and John, Movits!,TV on the Radio. There are some other good ones I know, but those are the ones that come to mind.

Hmm, what about the five million other subgenres of metal, like Black Metal, Atmospheric Black Metal, Ambient Black Metal, Atmospheric Ambient Metal, National Socialist Black Metal, Raw Black Metal etc. etc. ?

You forgot Stay Black metal, and Metal of Black Origin.

THE HORROR!!!!!!!

Anyways, if you're in the mood for more of an old-school feel, I'd suggest Yes as a band. They're pretty varied with their sound, so listening to them as an artist doesn't get super boring as it does with some people.

Plus, you can usually find albums in a used music store relatively inexpensively, I know I found a few for 4.95USD where I live.

@Sabre: National Socialist Black Metal isn't a real genre, more a way of describing a black metal band that promotes National Socialism.

Depends on how you define genres, I guess. A kind of genre-cult has developed around Nokturnal Mortum, enthusing East European folk with raw black metal to create something of a mildly distinctive NSBM sound. But yeh, just one of the five million metal descriptors. :p

No Death metal??? Blasphemy!!!!! How bout folk metal? Or folk/death? :xp: If that odd sounding genre sounds intriguing search these on youtube: Korpiklaani, Turisas, Ensiferum, Tyr... I cant remember any more. And also search Alestorm. Pirate metal FTW! :p

How about no Metal at all

EDIT: Accept Metallica and Kill Switch Engage

You know Type -o- Negative has got a unique sound. There's two songs that I really like made by them:

"September Sun" and "Love You to Death"

I guess they fit into the Gothic Rock genre, I'm not really sure about that. Anyway, all I know is I really like some of their music, not all of it though.

Oh, and Rob Zombie has a few songs that are pretty good as well.

"More Human than Human" and "Feel so Numb"

Hmmm, can't think of anymore right now.
