Need some new podcast suggestions!

You lot got me into podcasts to begin with. Now I host Lucastcast every other week.

Anyways, I like to listen to podcasts everyday in my car during my commute to work. Sometimes if it is really slow, I listen to them at work, and always listen to them while I am closing up the shop.

Here is what I currently listen too:

Giant Bombcast (my current favorite)

Destructoid Podtoid

Bitmob Mobcast

Penny Arcade Podcast

Mojocast

http://www.mixnmojo.com/

LucasCast

http://www.lucascast.com/

Thats about it for me.

Let's face it, the likes of Penny Arcade has not put out anything new since march of last year. Mixmojo put has not put out anything since March of this year. Destructoid put out the last podcast during the end of April. I need some fresh material guys.

I need something funny that is out on a regular basis. Preferably geeky stuff like video games, movies and music...maybe TV...whatever.

I am going through these podcasts way too fast, and I need to expand my library. Any suggestions would be hot...please post links so I can subscribe!

Thanks in advance,

In similarity: Giant Bomb, CAG Cast, GWJ, and Destructoid.

The other two that I listen to are The Player One Podcast and Drunken Gamers Radio.

The Player One Podcast is a pretty mellow and admittedly lower energy four-man podcast one with a lot of talk of a few select games and industry events and politics.

Drunken Gamers Radio podcast may either be the funniest and dirtiest gaming podcast you've ever heard, or it may be the most annoying (depending on your tastes). It also has some very impressive production values with great editing, structure, musical cues, and audio quality. They host live shows all the time with multiple cameras. They have finished building a studio to record the show in. They have a blog that is constantly updated.

In the show, they have the Random Retro Review, where they review 10-30 year old games in 5 or 6 minutes. They have a Drunk Dial section, where they listen to often humorous and sometimes incomprehensible calls from listeners while drunk (about video games, don't worry). They have also released album-length musicals... seriously. Watch a live performance here about zombies [Link].

But lately, their contests have been the most amazing things around. Here are three examples that are pretty great.

It's all very crude humor. Hah.

IGN has some good podcasts.

Sadly, Extra Life Radio is over, but if you run out of stuff, you can listen to the old episodes.

There's a new Penny Arcade DnD Podcast coming out.

I don't know if it's your thing, but Ricky Gervais has all kinds of podcasts. They're pretty funny. Unfortunately, they're released as "audio books" or crap like that, so they cost money on iTunes.

Weekend Confirmed - My current favorite. Hosted by Garnett Lee (previously of 1up), Jeff Cannata (of the Totally Rad Show), and Brian Leahy (of Shacknews), and they sometimes have an additional guest. It just has excellent discussion and great segments.

A Life Well Wasted - This one does not update regularly at all, but the episodes are so well produced and you can definitely go back and listen to the past episodes (there are < 10) because they don't have to do with current gaming events. Hosted by Robert Ashley (previously of 1up), he picks a topic for the episode and then interviews different people about that topic.

Irrational Behavior - Irrational Games' official podcast, hosted by Shawn Elliot (previously of GFW Radio), it has sort of a similar format to ALWW, where there will be an episode topic, and various people at Irrational (including Ken Levine (if you don't know him, you're dead to me)) will talk about it.

The Totally Rad Show - Many of you have probably heard of this but it is 3 dudes talking about the latest in all things rad (movies & games). They have great chemistry and are very funny.

The best for last:

Idle Thumbs - They are currently not on a regular schedule, but hopefully will return to releasing an episode every 2-3 weeks. Hands down the best podcast I have ever listened to, I guarantee there is not a better gaming show out there. They originally went to 50 episodes doing it weekly, but then one of the members changed jobs and moved, so a recurring guest replaced him and they started back at 1, but don't have a regular schedule. But you can definitely go back and listen to past episodes, as they are all hilarious and great listens. Currently it features Chris Remo of Gamasutra, Jake Rodkin of Telltale (and admin here), and Steve Gaynor of 2K Marin. Actually, before you start listening to the newer episodes, I would recommend you just start at episode 1 (from 2008 not 2010 since there are 2 "episode 1"'s) because there are so many hilarious in-jokes that would be lost on you if you just started now. You are doing yourself a disservice by not listening to this.

I also listen to Giant Bomb and Gamers with Jobs, but they have already been mentioned so I thought I'd skip over them.

I would recommend these in the order of Idle Thumbs, Weekend Confirmed, then Giant Bomb. I said Weekend Confirmed is my current fav because Thumbs hasn't put out an episode in like a month.

check out podcast alley - its like a whitepages for podcasts ;) Just do a genre search to track down stuff about topics you like - some are new, updated, some older but good to catch up on.

IIRC you like Industrial music, so you might want to have a look at Industrial Strength Nightmares(ISN) Radio podcast >site HERE or here is the direct link to plug into your Zune

I see your dick joke and raise you an xkcd comic. And a pun.

A dick pun.

I don't listen to podcasts because I can never remember to. And they're usually so long it's inconvenient. That's what she said.
