CIV always had good songs. But I guess it has something to do with hearing them in a loop over and over again. :xp: then again, most vidya music are basically this.

From CivIII I recall really enjoying those:

It's great that some made glorious comebacks on the following installments.

Legend of Zelda series (particularly Ballad of the Windfish)

Metroid series

F-Zero GX soundtrack

KOTOR and KOTOR 2 soundtracks

Civilization 4 - Babu Yetu

Super Smash Bros. Brawl soundtrack

Still Alive - Mirror's Edge

I'm missing quite a few, but those are the ones I absolutely love.

Way too many here to have favorites. Here's what is current on my plate relevant to OP subject, though. I'm currently watching tutorials on YouTube learning how to put together Kraid's theme from Metroid to get a handle on FamiTracker.

I'm considering attempting to recreate the following tracks in "NES/Famicom 8 bit" or "retro vidya" on famitracker. I'm doing it piece by piece, by ear. It's going to be a painstaking process should I go through with it.

Donkey Kong Land: Great Girder grapple,

Kremlantis,

Boss ("Skerries" for the blast corps version)

Megaman Legends 2: nino island underwater ruins http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ex61b-Tujc

Legend of Zelda, Oracle of Ages: Veran final confrontation

Marvel Vs Capcom: Captain America theme,

Hidden Character theme

Princess Maker 2 ending (0:13 onward)

Megaman X8: Lumine final battle theme

Huey Lewis and the news: Hip to be Square

Marylin Manson: Minute of Decay http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34V7nxZCshM

Remakes I wanted to do but someone else did it already (albeit some in a different soundfont than FT):

Donkey Kong '94: Level 9-8 showdwon

Black Sabbath: Electric Funeral http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGDehgWFx0U

Megaman X3: Gravity Beetle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaUBnzt8r8o

Iron Maiden: Run to the hills, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VkOrEaO5Pc

Hallowed be thy name http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfdDSBkO9tI

Cradle of Filth: cover for Hallowed be thy name http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SogYE2SoEoU

Ozzy: Crazy Train http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cr3Lk0fwYCk

Quiet Riot: Cum on feel the noize http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4wnsvLOgHo

Megaman X: Sigma Fortress 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLQIHrHSAnc

MVC1: Onslaught 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hcQDDVvIow

Lastly I always wondered what a megaman version of Castlevania 2's Bloody Tears would sound like

Here's as close to an NES MM2 version as you can get

And here's the closest thing to a SNES Megaman X2 version
