Ha! I hate programming. I despised it when I had to take classes on it, and I despised it afterward.

I'm in hardware maintenance and troubleshooting. And, despite the issues, and busy days, I don't think I'd rather be doing anything else. I do wish there were more days when I had a chance to sit down a breath though.

What programs do you design? Also, what languages do you write in?

If it helps morale: There's a fresh copy of Vectorworks in my office. Berklee is doing our part to keep you in whiskey for another year.

But sleep... yeah. I remember that... I think I liked it. I wonder if I'll get a chance to do that again someday.

There's something else I sometimes do in bed I rather enjoy as well... but thanks to the 6 and 7 day work weeks that have been dropped on me, I haven't managed to find time to see my girlfriend much for several weeks, and it might be another week before I see her again. I hope I don't forget about that as well... :dozey:

Standard pipe organ repertoire (of course I especially love the works of Bach), standard classical piano repertoire (especially the works of Beethoven), and on the popular side of things, I like to play classic rock on piano and guitar (Billy Joel, Elton John, Queen, The Beatles, Style, Fleetwood Mac, stuff like that).

Do you play?

I also play guitar (and bass, a little)... though it's actually probably a bit more accurate these days to say that I own guitars, seeing how work and life rarely give me the time to sit down and play anymore, and I'm so out of practice that I sound like suck when I do.

But, I do have enough instruments to play a different one each day for a over month and never repeat. I just gave away 11 guitars... which brings me down to only 40-something. So when the day comes where I can shred again... I am prepared! :dozey:

what video?

And, not in the least. I've tried to learn the harmonica, but the seeming lack of progress irritated me to the point where I just put it down and walked away. Still have it, still want to learn to play it, but I couldn't even figure out how to play a single note. Every time I tried, it turned out as the note I wanted to hit, and the one right next to it.

It seems that's a tradition in my family. My dad wants to learn to play his guitar, but finding time, energy, and will power to sit down and practice is his issue. And that's a similar issue with my sister with her violin as well.

On the topic of swords, I'm subbed to the scholagladitoria (probably spelled that wrong) YouTube channel.

he talks about the ups and downs of sword warfare, sword make, ect. He just put up a video about the 1821 light Calvary sabre, and I have to say thats a nice sword.

I actually looked up the pricing online for one, $190 for a finely crafted replica + scabbard. That might be my christmas present from me to me.

You know, you could get a real antique sword bayonet for the same price, or the actual swords for ca$h more. If you look around, you might be able to find a real saber you can afford.

YouTube, eh? Studied at the school of 'Highlander,' myself. ;)

(IN REAL LIFE...)

The fires are getting worse out here in Orygun. The smoke has been filling the air pretty regularly for a few weeks now, and every day breathing is like smoking a couple packs of cigarettes. The only relief is to be found in an air-conditioned room, where the filter and constant air circulation help to remove the smoke particles. Outside, it looks like this:

There are usually green, forested mountains towering in the background. Here there is only smoke.

The owner of the restaurant I work at is involved with a company that sets up field kitchens at the firefighters' camps, and this summer he's been away doing that. Back at the diner, we all have to work a little harder to make up for his absence.

Bah. :max: This is what happens when you won't let the loggers go into the forest and thin out the trees. It gets clogged up with rotten timber, which then catches on fire. Ridiculous!

As I've always said:

Earth First. We can strip mine the other planets later.

One month of living alone and the following has not happened (Yes, some of these are actually bets people took.):

  • Not Evicted due to no rent payment.
  • Paid all my bills.
  • No wild Keggers.
  • Did not burn down the apartment due to my inability to properly cook.
  • Did not die due to my inability to cook more than hot dogs, toast, pasta and hamburgers.
  • Did not die due to loneliness.
  • Did not acquire the services of an escort due to desperation. (I got standards man).
  • Did not die.
  • Cat is still alive.

Basically, I guess I'm an adult now.

And I hate it.

And here I was looking forward to, eventually, moving out.

I'm 27, going for my last semester and getting my bachelors, and still living at home.

Many thanks for the links rabbit. Those bayonetts are pretty cool. I don't use ebay, you have to trust the other human being on the other end will hold up their end of the deal. And, after working at a thrift store for 5 years, I no longer have much trust in people in general. Much less people I don't see face to face. Quite honestly, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop with my current job.

And I have been in a virtual media blackout for about 5 months now. I listen to audio books while I drive, and don't typically turn on the tv...ever. Are those forest fires, or smog?

Edit: oh and heres the link I found for reasonably priced replicas: http://www.militaryheritage.com/swords2.htm.

The west coast of the United States is on fire.

San Francisco is about to be consumed by a fire tornado! :max:

mattig89ch: Living alone is GODDAMNED AWESOME. Like... complete pants optional environment, all the food I like and no one is gonna steal it. Complete and 100% privacy.

It's the responsibility I am less than thrilled about. And sometimes you get moments of crippling loneliness but I started to play WoW again so that kinda solves that.

But overall, it's pretty awesome.

Also; nobody bitches about my mechanical keyboards.

One can download infinite guilt-free porn. :dozey: Spanky, spanky...

I think you mean more AWESOME!!! Especially if they are fire sharks with frikken' laser beams attached to their heads!!!

Make them terminator kill-bot fire sharks from the future, with frikken' laser beams coming out of their heads, in a big tornado...imminently poised over the city of San Francisco. People running, screaming babies, car alarms, etc.

Yes!

it is awesome...tho i have roommates but they leave me alone and i rarely see them.

ive been playing swg emu to deal with my loneliness. this girl i'm dating things just seem to be going too slow. idk it's not too bad...just annoying when i make plans (she was going to spend the night) and she ends up staying home and falling asleep then texts me about an hour after she was supposed to be here, saying something about sleep medication. so i dont know. wish i could just have a normal relationship but i dont see that ever happening, the girls that i relate to and communicate well with don't see me as anything more than a friend, so i'm kind of ****ed. it is what it is i guess.

What kinds of games are you into? I have more then a few mp games I play on and off. And a couple, I've been looking for someone to play them with.

My friends and I have such different gaming tastes, that they aren't interested at all.

Cracken, you still have the old ps2 spring keyboards?
