ya know before you start criticizing my puntuation lemme me tell you this.. one.. if punctuation is your friend you need to go back and fix yours.. and two stop ya damn whining about the patch .. you will not change anything.. i have read through your melancholy outlook of the game and have tolorated your sniviling.. here is some sound advice.. go play another game.. you dont like the patch dont freekin use it.. god dude.. you all who are negative about the patch sound like a bus load of lil girls whining over who gets barbie.. stfu and play.. or dont but as far as im concerned you suck

let me just say LOL!!! to mr. fitzwilliamd and that i don't think the "you suck" tactic well work here, though i use it my self from time to time it never salves anything but it does make things more fun for everyone else, so, rock on!

 

but anyway for anyone who has read what i have to say (and i'm sure you didn't you basterds!.....i mean...anyway) you know i have no probs with the new patch and from what i see everyone playing this it's just fine, but then again i guess every one who doesn't really like it doesn't have the patch anymore, but i think if every one just stop talking about it and plays the game for about a week or so you'll get over it and start having fun again.

 

as for all the "headless chickens" say it with me, Head-less Chick-ens, very good! i have started seeing less and less of them over just the past 2 days, and i think every one well start getting a feel for the new patch, so i say give it about a week and everything well be (for the most part) back to it's old self (as much as it can be)

 

and hey, just think in a mouth or 2 we'll have a bran spanking new patch to bitch about

Hmm, I'm going to admit that I am indeed torn between the two sides of the debate. Half of me is saying, "Okay, the patch made lightsaber duels a longer more drawn out affair, but it does give them an epic feel as the sabers clash into each other and and the opponents circle around each other, trading attacks. Basically, makes them LOOK cooler. The other half is saying, "But wait, aren't we talking about a the ultimate personal weapon? A weapon, that can cut through practically anything? Shouldn't these weapons do horrendous amounts of dmg? If I do a foward hack, shouldn't the fact that I just cleaved you from head to groin be an instant kill? So what I propose is this.

#1 Make blocking a pretty frequent affair. 'Cause how often do you see people land hits in the movies?

#2 Make the sabers do location based dmg. i.e. if I cut your arm, you'll live, if I decapitate you, your roast, and I don't CARE what health and armor you have.

#3 MORE MOVES!!! I wanna see people being able to more than just the handful of moves we can do right now and be able to do all sorts of these moves in a way that won't cause your character to move just because you hit back and left just to do a diagonale hack.

#4 For the extreme purists, have a command or button or something that will allow you to turn off blocking and turn on a block "button" of sorts. For instance if you do a foward hack (foward+attack) then I could block by hitting foward+block, etc. This could allow for a major league fencing experience.

Please don't flame me, these are just ideas so treat them as such. Constructive criticism is good. Being a dick isn't, but I will say that what they did to saber throw is pure sh!t. What were they thinking? They nerfed DFA but twinked saber throw? Raven really needs to lay off the crack.

^^ they didn't make saber throw more powerful, but they did put it on NF servers. Though, that is kinda lame, but then again, the idea of NF severs, if you think about it is kinda lame, since from the movies, as you are saying, only those with the force, dare wield a light saber...damn things could split you in two if you mess up ;) They didn't Nerf DFA, they just made it what the manual said it was, a finishing move. They fixed the bugs in it.

 

I gotta say, I am so very tired of the 1.03 sux or doesn't suck threads, and I have participated in a few now. Forget it people, it's here, it's real, its on 90% of the servers now. Lets just all deal with it, back stabs and all.

 

Raven must know by now what the complaints are, so ....new topic: Cats...are these really supposed to be indoors animals? Talk amongst yourselves ;)

I agree with point 4 but I think it should be accross the board... It will eliminate all the snibbling... Everybody will be able to show how GOOD they really are by making all moves blockable. If you want timing, give manual block. Someone tries to backstab you, block, if you are too slow *due to your genetic makeup* your dead. Someone DFA's use... Block... You would get less whinning... Simple answer to everything...

 

Complaint #1: "Oh he was using a cheap move" or "He has no Skillzzzzzzzzzzz... He was spamming it"

 

Response 1: "You should've of blocked... "

Response 2: "Did you try to block? Didnt you know all moves are BLOCKABLE?"

Response 3: "Next time someone DFA/BackStab Spams... let him... Block and put a light saber up his @$$"

Response 4: "Geesh Gosh Darnit... You should've of BLOCKED!"

Complaint #2: The classic Headless chicken...

 

"You know IM REAL GOOD!!! but its these NOOBS who use the HEADLESS CHICKEN MOVE!!!! that kills me ALLLLLL THE TIME... but SERIOUSLY IM REAL GOOD!!!! I can only defeat ppl that just stand there and will let me CHOP them with my saber... BUT THESE NOOBS!!! DARN IT WITH THEIR DREADED NO SKILLZ HEADLESS CHICKEN MOVE!!!! They keep Killing me!!!! DID I SAY I HAVE SKILLZ???

 

Resolution... Since you have to Manually block... Any such spamming techniques would be suicide. No Miraculous blocks from allllllllllllllll angles.

 

But seriously...

 

Instead of talking how bad things are, like I said before, learn to adapt. If not, give constructive suggestions that will address these issues.

I think Manual block would address most of the issues... the rest is just gravy.

My friend, you do not realize what is at stake! Here is just one example:

 

Before the patch, I hosted a large JK2 LAN party. One of my female friends donned a bright red bikini, affixed a temporary Yoda tattoo to her right thigh, and strapped a plastic lightsaber to her bikini bottoms causing the material to stretch dangerously. She pranced about like a little Elven Princess, flitting from station to station, squealing in delight at our duels.

 

After the patch, she will not return my calls.

What I meant by twinking saber throw, was by how much the ranged was increased. It's nuts! The range on that damn skill makes it more than just a neat skill to use to surprise your opponent, but a severely spammable weapon. Not just in duel, but in ALL the various games. They also should not of put saber throw in NF duels. How can you throw a saber when you have no access to the force? It just doesn't make any sense.

My comment on nerfing the DFA, wasn't so much as a complaint, as an observation. I personally never used it much before OR after the patch, but all they had to fix was the collision detection. The DFA was practically a tactical nuke before the patch. That could of been fixed by fixing the problem with the buried saber doing horrendous damage, and also how far out the damage was actually dealt. THAT'S ALL. Instead they did more than that. I used the word nerf because that's the only one I could think of that would be appropriate.

On the subject of my blocking idea, on an afterthought, it should be across the board.

Alas, my lovely friend has but one fatal flaw: she is pure and virtuous :(

 

Does that suck or what? Furthermore, she has no patience for the game. When I tried to teach her some moves, all she wanted to do was try to draw hearts in the wall with her lightsaber... She got pretty good at it too ... maybe I should make a demo and post a guide? ;)

oh we can fix the "pure and virtuous" thing:evil2: , it's really not that hard, it just takes slow gin and a fast car, though i don't have any of these thing i do have root beer and a ford escort!(not one word from any of you!!!). and i don't know about you guy but i don't really care if she can play or not. as long as she can stand(or at least try) there and look good thats all that really matters, am i right? or maybe i'm just a old fashion guy

Well there is entirely too much quoting on this board to have to read all this crap. But I have a suggestion to all patch supporters. Start a multiplayer no force duel game. Load 1 bot. I used tavion, heavy stance.. keep your crosshair on the bot at all times. DO NOT ATTACK!!! I repeat do NOT ATTACK AT ALL!!! And you will see how insane the auto blocking is. I made a demo its fairly large cause it took so long to die. And I even killed her once, several saber locks. But I think after tryin this you might think differently.

ok this what i have noticed

saber styles anyways

light is alot faster it's move the lunge is still very useful and the backstab is always there(o non duel servers you could say the blue gives you 50 invunable and if someone does manage to get your back there dead but i digress)

light is useful on duel servers to get past the 25 shields and wear them down a little

the usefulness ends there

med stance spin is slower then red stance i barely hit anything

jump move rocks easy backstab useful for winning a fatal hit

red stance strong basicly a powered up med...my probs with it are...dfa is blockable...i swear i had it done to me he came down on my head i blocked....another time in ffa...he came down on my head..he just landed on me ...no damage..so far the red stance is becoming less and less the useful thing for duels...and that's sad...there should be some reward to using red but the backswipe sine yellow backswipe kills anyways...mu suggestion is make dismembement a serious issue or make saber knocks more often

well heres what i see with the stances(tell me if i'm wrong) but as far as i can see theres really only one good and not really cheep stance and thats yollow(hear me out)...

 

with red all you can really do(befor and after patch) is stay back and swing, you can't really get in there and have a good fight cuase your so slow, and though becuase of the new patch you block alot more, and yes i do say some times you do block when you shouldn't but in 1.02 i though you got hit at times when you shouldn't have but maybe thats just me, all i know is i'll take getting hit less then more.

 

with Blue it's more the same but in a whole other way, you have to really get in there and when you do all you can really do is swing like a nut job(befor and after patch) now i keep hearing people say that poeple can just run in swing away and kill anyone, but that sounds hard when (these same poeple) are saying that you can't hit anyone because the block is so high.

and the other thing i hear about is the backstab, and as far as that go's that was here befor the patch and i've only seen it a little more now and in all the games i play i've only died by it 2 times, i've died by the DFA more then that.

 

and now yollow, i think yollow is "THE" saber stance, it's all around good and you can have better saber fights with it, and you'll kill more people with it. so far i see just about everyone using it and befor the patch the only ones who didn't use it were the DFA guys. the only time i see it now is when someone thinks thay have a good shot at DFA and the only time i see anyone with the light out is when they wan't to swing there saber around like a fool and try and backstab someone, and when i say all this i'm talking about in both 1.02 and 1.03 unless i said i was talking about 1.02 or 1.03 at one time. all i can really see about the new patch is that you can't DFA as well and that insted of getting more hit then you shouldn't of got you get less shots that you should of, messed up huh? so in the end this is what everyone has to do, think about witch patch has less of what you don't wan't cuase thats all it is right now, no patch is all that great in the end. all i know is i'll put up with anything give to me cuase in the end it's a really fun game. like with Diablo 2 when (i think it was) 1.07 came out i just about pissed my self when i walked down in to that snake pit place with my lvl 53 sorce and i couldn't kill most of them cause cold didn't hurt them,and the only good move a hade was a lvl 16 frozen orb, well you know what i did? i uninstall the patch and got 1.06 back, hell no!! i worked my butt off and i kill them all dying 5 or 6 times doing it.

 

and to sume up all my ranting and raving....what was i talking about again....oh yeah, diablo 2 rocks! thank you for you time:D

i havnt played the patched ver long enough to form a opinion about how it affects sabre combat BUT i notice no one's talkin about the fact that theres no balance to the nerfing aka flechete weapons being overpowered in their rate of fire type of attack ammo count and range. wanna change sabre and force powers. ok cool, how bout they step up to the plate now and do something about some of the gun types? otherwise all this game will be reduced to is a glorified ver of q3.

I went and did some severe testing with a few friends here is what i have to add to this discussion..

*As you get better the moves become more and more deep and with this patch.. im sorry to say.. there is NO DEPTH.. mostly what i have seen are the ass fighters.. people running backwards flailing with a saber in hopes of getting an unblockable cheesey move*

 

the collision map seems screwed as well.. i have seen dfa attempts fail.. and the opponent was right behind that person.. for a half second the dfa'er is totally invulnerable.. cannot be hit at all.. no matter what you do for the time that the saber buries itself into the earth to the time the saber comes out of the ground the dfa'er cannot be hit..

 

Backstabs.. can and will hit you no matter where you are if you are adjacent to the backstabber.. even infront of him.. the backstab will hit and most likely kill you.. it is quite funny to be backstabbed while you are infront of your attacker getting hit with the ass end of a saber.. ahhh well..

 

Blue is entirely too fast.. while it is manageable.. i think "blue whores" should really enjoy the time raven put in or i should say not put in to making this patch..

 

where did my yellow saber stance go??.. the range was decreased. the combos removed.. it was once possible to pull off a 4 or 5 slash combo.. lol youre now lucky if you get 3 or 4..

 

in short this is all raven needed to do to fix the problems from 1.02

fix the dfa to what it is now..

the force power issues were a bit unbalanced.. now they are fixed

i guess there were some bugs that needed fixing those too have been repaired so im told..

everything else should have been left alone.. no special move should be moveable once executed..

raven i hope youre reading this post.. because in all seriousness.. things were fine before the patch except the cheese of ease of the dfa..

and i also hope that you fix these collision mapping issues because if i am killed with another saber butt ill scream.. oh by the way.. take away the blocking on all sides of the opponent.. blocking should only occur where the opponents saber is.. no one is obiwan and try as you might.. you are not going to make the moves as in depth as what can be done in real life.. so atleast make the game realistic..

 

these are my opinions of what has been going on.. you take away the cheesey stuff and you will have an amazing game of depth and strategy.. it was near perfect the first time around.. just needed to fix a few things.. now you must fix alot of things

Poor gunners.

 

Pre-patch, I enjoyed wrenching your weapons from you and slashing at your legs while performing rapid, precise, timed combinations until you were lying in a heap at my taunting feet.

 

No longer, I feel for you. I really do. In 1.03, Sabers are so ineffectual now, and gunners have their new postpatch problems...

 

Heck, pretty soon as opposed to kicking our mutual behinds we will probably be hugging, weeping and singing, 'we are the world... we are the children' ...

erm what problems would those be? choosing where to camp with a flechette alternative fire to wait for 3 or 4 ppl to ammass? or what roof to stand on and bombard the bespin coutyard and walkways with same said weapon and fire mode?

I agree.

 

Saber combat has been neutered, ‘washed down’ if you will, across all stances. Our play options have been severely reduced by this patch.

 

In 1.02, I liked to switch up lightsaber styles to keep my opponent off guard, but Medium was my bread and butter. With the advent of 1.03, this is not an option; granted, on occasion I will use the medium special finisher as a flourish to end a match—it still rotates unlike the light lunge special--or the silly backsweep if I happen to still be in the style when assaulted by a ‘Bun Backwards’ warrior. Those skilled with the yellow style were immediately surprised at the speed reduction garnered with the patch.

 

I am still at a loss to understand the new autoblock immunity that plagues light and medium users following the patch. Why was this done? Test it with a friend; he can swing all day long at you with yellow and light styles and NEVER HIT ONCE if you face them and do not swing. Where is the skill involved in that proposition? In addition, they lowered the damage on us and emasculated our ability to assault skillfully with deadly force; that is, you can make perfectly timed strikes that glance off of your opponent.

 

Yes, I still can kill. No, I do not enjoy it.

 

They should have fixed the bugs and kept the saber dynamics much the same. The fantastic ‘feel’ of the game has vanished. They were marvelous and complex.

 

Positives? They fixed the DFA, added some new combinations, and gave us some nice new maps. I thank them heartily for this.

 

Raven has foisted their new 'vision' on us: multiplayer is now like singleplayer. I find the replay value of the singleplayer to be negligible. Sadly, after being saddled with inferior saber dynamics, multiplayer has little replay value as well.
