Could you post your reasons you like 1.03

Blocking (Although it should be toned down a bit, it is way better than in 1.02)

Getting rid of boring, lame exploits. (DFA, overpowered healing etc.)

Saber battles last longer and feel more like "the real thing".

The chance to learn and find out new stuff...it's like a whole new ball game now :)

I tend to agree with what the other two guys said so far.

The saber fighting is sooo much better now. They could tone down the blocking a touch (25-40% less then it is now) to make other people happy however.

The changes in the force work well IMO, altho healing and drain could proably stand a small adjustment back up in power.

Fixing the hit detection, and tweaking the DFA so it worked like it should is very nice.

The fact that I don't do a backflip every other time I hit a curb is nice.

But a question for you, why bother starting a thread like this, if your going to make such negitive comments, your violoating the whole idea of this post.

############

Thank you for downloading the Jedi Outcast Update. This

readme includes instructions on how to install this update as

well as information on what was addressed in this update. If

you are experiencing any issues that are not fixed by this

update, please check the Troubleshooting Guide which is

included on the Jedi Outcast CD. You can access this through

the game's launcher.

The use of this update is pursuant to the Software License

Limited Warranty found in the manual of the game.

This update is compatible with your saved games.

All Multiplayer users must use Jedi Outcast version 1.03.

Instructions for Installing the Jedi Outcast Update

---------------------------------------------------

After downloading the update, double click on JKIIUpdate.exe

to install. The installer will automatically search for the

folder where you originally installed Jedi Outcast and install

all of the updates. If the update does not locate Jedi Outcast

on your system, you may need to reinstall the game from the

original CD and then run the JKIIUpdate.exe

This update for the game has been modified to:

---------------------------------------------

* Provide EAX® 3.0 and OpenAL support. To enable these options,

you will need to enable 3D Sound in the Sound Setup menu.

NOTE: At the time of release of this update, EAX 3.0 is only

supported on the Creative Labs Inc. SoundBlaster® Audigy

and Extigy sound cards.

NOTE: This feature is not supported on Aureal® Vortex and

Vortex 2 sound cards. Enabling this feature with a card with

one of these chipsets may cause the game to lock up.

-------------------------------------------

detonator packs and trip mines on the “explosives” key

unless they also had Thermal Detonators.

* Corrects an issue that prevented launching a multiplayer

game on AMD dual processor machines

* Corrected an exploit to prevent players from using illegal

models in the game.

* Corrected an exploit that allowed players to have force

powers outside of what the server rules allow.

* Added a keyboard icon that appears over the player's head

when the player is chatting or configuring force powers.

* Backflip now requires that you double tap the jump button.

* Lightsaber usage in multiplayer has been modified to work

similarly to the way it works in single player levels. This

will enable better saber battles up close with your opponent.

* Lightsabers will do less damage at the very start and very

end of a swing. This should prevent kills from just touching

an opponent with the tip of your lightsaber.

* Other players will not see the glow from a player using force

absorb until they are attacked.

* Force Heal and Force Drain have been adjusted to require more

force energy to use them.

* Corrected an issue that prevent lightsaber locking from

occurring in duels even if it was enabled by the server.

* Correct various Duel mode issues, including:

* Reconfiguring force powers will not place your player at

bottom of queue.

* If one player leaves during a match when dueling with more

than 1 kill limit, the next person in line will not enter

the match with the score of the person who left the match

* Changing skins will no longer produce a loss score on HUD

that includes fraglimit

Single Player:

-------------

* Corrected an issue that would cause the third AT-ST on

Artus_Topside to disappear that prevented Jan from landing.

* Corrected an issue that caused enemies not to be alerted by

the body of a comrade in their field of vision.

* Corrected an issue where enemies did not try to avoid

thermal detonators that were thrown at them

* Corrected an issue that would cause the player to be unable

to attack for about thirty seconds if they were force pushed

out of a saberlock

j/k

Seriously, I am really getting tired of all these patch complaints. I like the patch b/c you can see when someone is typing, you can see what servers are saber only and which ones aren't, because saber combat is WAY more balanced, and because it hasn't changed enough that I am still the #1 player out there and can't be touched by most of you.

The auto-blocking does need to be toned down, yes. But from what i've found, chaining moves together is the best way to bring people down even with this blocking. People have complained that heavy stance is now useless, but this simply isn't true. You can chain up to 3 swings together (try swinging right, up-right, then up) for a very damaging combo. Of course, not all of these swings are likely to hit. But, you can easily fake out an opponent by varying your combo moves and lengths (as well as the saber style itself), and especially in Heavy stance, even a block will often cause the enemy's saber to be thrown to the side. I was in a saber FFA last night, and at first I had a terrible time trying to get kills, but after learning how to feint and counter-attack an opponent and use chained combos, it's really not too hard at all to get a solid kill.

As far as backstab/sweep spammers go, I personally don't think this move is nearly as deadly or annoying as the 1.02 DFA. The opponent is vulnerable for quite some time during and after the swing; just get behind him and kick (it's double-tap, not as hard as some people say) or whack him with whatever you've got.

I hated 1.03 at first, but now that I'm learning it, it doesn't seem so bad. Try learning more about the new system; maybe you'll like it as well.:fett:

Funny I didn't think I was criticizing you, just asking a question. But since you seem instant on criticizing everyone who responds, then what's the point... Unless you did this just to mock anyone who likes the patch?

I originally hated the patch, but once you have some practice with it it's great. The Strong stance is much more devastating now, take that whiners! The only thing I don't like is the lack of mobility when using Grip, but that's not a big deal.

Also a lot of lightsaber people graciously are making themselves easier to kill because they bravely back into a duel trying to backstab everyone and they are just so obvious it's pathetic.

I agree with Wang. You start a thread about what people LIKE about the patch, only to go a couple messages down and spam your own thread!!!

Can't say I didn't see it coming right from the title of the thread though.. Guess you thought that if you titled your thread "This patch sux" like everyone else, nobody would read it.

Yeah the patch ownz!

- DFA is good now, although it's almost impossible to kill with it (which isn't a really bad thing)

- Light stance can be used now, because Medium isn't as fast as light anymore, it has it's own purpose now...

- I like the heavy chance chaining, really good to start with and then finish with medium or even light :)

- Typing symbol, although it's very ugly and could be smaller and more transparant...

- Drain and heal toned down, they're cool now, don't change it any further

- The hands-only model bug exploit is fixed

- You stay in the queue when changing your force config (this was annoying)

- Symbols in server list (no force servers easily detected)

- New maps, woohoo!! I like duelling maps :D But the hangar map is pretty ugly, although I like reflective floors :)

That is about it, in one word: GREAT!

What i like:

*The duel maps

*The cool saber duels

*The blocking

*The force change: absorb

*The Jedi vs Mercs mode (non-official)

*Medium & strong style

___________

What i don't like

*The overpowered backstabs (all stands)

*The fact that drain is better then heal

*Too much blocking: this should be able to set as a key

*I hope when they'll integrate Jedi vs Mercs mode they'll balance it more. Maybe give the mercs a jetpack or a grapling hook. Or a mini-Ysalamiri that works on a timer and has to reload. And that they remove the force from the mercs because the dark-jedi could use this to regain health. And maybe the ability to drive a AT-ST every 5 to 10 minutes. And off course suitable maps. Do i hear someone say swamp maps... Or mountain maps with stations...
