Hey Buckman, maybe sometime in the future you could also make a middle of the day version of your map (with a blue sky).....hummm it would also be nice to see a early evening version too (with stars)! :D

 

But the sky you have now looks very good. It definitly captures that Ep. II Anakin speeder bike feel!

Ok, now the daytime option is the one that is most likely not to be done. I have seen about 3 other tatooine-maps set at daytime, so i would like to do something else.

 

How about a late evening, with a cool, blue summer sky with some stars beyond the thin clouds? Would you download that map?

 

...oh, and hang on a few days for more screenshots of some new areas, buildings and hopefully a landingpit!

Keo: yes, all i have to do is change the skybox and the sky-shader, and probably i will have to do that, since most people want different things! ;)

Well, this open area and the pit was build in an hour or so, and if you look at the screenshots you will se that i have begun to build a little market. The tents in front of the pit that is.

 

And the pit is supposed to be a landingpit where Han Solos ship is at, same as the royal starship in episodeII...

Hey that's lookin' pretty cool.

I really like the weathered/rusty/stained hole thing texture! :D

 

I would suggest moving the landing pit up out of the ground some more or increasing the height of it's lip. If you look at the "Clone War" trailer (the last one for Ep.II) you can see a bantha walking in front of one of those landing pits. You can probably size the pit's lip by using the bantha as a height reference. From what I can tell the lip stands a little above the height of a man (about 7 to 8 feet maybe?).

 

Also, as I was lookin' at all the cool new pics, I was thinking it would be nice to see the ground texture that you currently use (kind of a hard crackally ground) only in certain area like inside the land pit (which would be used to holding alot of weight). And then outside in the streets, you could use a softer sandier looking ground. Just an idea. :p

I agree with Padawan. I think the textures need some more variation. I know that Tatooine is just a lot of sand, but right now it looks like the whole stage was carved from one big sand brick. Some more variation and some more eye candy (though not so much it upsets the framerate) should serve to spruce up the stage a bit. And a question - how do you get into (and more importantly, out of) that big pit where the ship will be? I know you could just jump in, but are there steps, or an elevator, or some underground entrance or something? Because it would be a pain to jump in there and not be able to get out easily. Just some suggestions. Keep up the good work!

Well, most of these screenshots are from a long distance and you cant really get a good look at the textures. Sure from that distance they all look the same, but i have made, and using, 7 different sandtextures on the map. Differrent textures from building to building, but its not strange that the textures look the same, after all they are supposed to look like sand :D

 

And the pit will have multiple choices of entrances and exits: Elevators going from top-to-bottom, and stairs that goes from the bottom of the pit, up to a building right next to the pit! Its important to have a couple of choices.

 

And its great that you like it sofar, its good to get some credit for all you hard work ;)

It's not necessarily the textures. Its the orange sky, which he said he would adjust.

I ve just tried your beta map buckman ,and i love it :)

 

the colors are great ,even if i think the sun is a little too bright....

 

there are a few textures errors (i m sure you will fix them)...

 

and you should try to clip the map a little more...

 

you can go in some places you shouldn't be able to.

 

btw i got stuck in one place i ll send you the screenshot if you want.

 

you're working on a saga map? great!

Hey man great map. loved the tatooinefelling :) i was disapointed in that i saww all the screenshots of it with the landing pad, but it was MIA:( but over all it was very nice. 1 suggention would be to be able to jump ontop of all bulidings. And an off the wall question, how big did you render the plain in Byrce 5 to be able to fit your level in the middle??:fett:
