Tercero,

No problem! Glad to help!

And the pouches look AWESOME the model is really coming along. Looks so accurate.

I personally think after you are done you should show it at teh TFN 3D forum, they'd love to see it for sure, I think!

Just a mini question...the inner tunic sleaves, will we see them at all coming out from the outer tunic?

Are you throwing on the clip at all? making the capsules 3D?

Just curious :) The pouches make it really look good! Maybe you can release those to the community as well, theyt are so accuate looking. :)

I'm not sure exactly what SP support is but as far as I know every model will work in SP. If you mean will he have facial animations? That's up to Terc. The reason Dooku didn't have any facial animations was due to the fact that the head wasn't built with facial animations in mind

Okies, time to answer some questions.

Right now I have the inner sleeves modeled - when I remodel them I'm going to decrease the polycount on them, but they will still be present and skinned.

The clip will be skinned on - the skin for the belt itself isn't finished yet - when you look at it close, you can see that it is still very rough. The caps will remain skinned, but I just redid that skin earlier today. The polycount for them would get too high (minimum 16 a piece to make them look good - with 8 caps, that's an additional 128-192 polys depending on the skin that would wind up shimmering if you don't have full screen antialiasing. The texture does look pretty good - the new one is really sharp. At the distance that the model's going to be viewed from, I didn't think it worthwhile to build them, I think the skin should do the trick.

As far as the pouches, anyone who wants them can have them. My future jedi models will probably also feature some of them, depending on the character's attire.

Now for the biggie:

SINGLE PLAYER SUPPORT.

The model is built with adding support for this in mind, but is not currently built for it. The reason is that you tend to get a little shimmer on the mouth. The demand does seem high though, and I have done a lot of work on the face, so it would probably be a worthwhile endeavor. I wanted to ask Toonces about this one first, but he seems willing to do it from his last post. I will have to make some minor changes to the model's structure to put it in, so I might release it as part of the Tercero-Anakin Special Edition skinpack rather than in the initial release.

I might also release a public beta instead of releasing a skinpack later - accessable here in the forums, but not on the website. That way the people who are waiting for it could get it a tad sooner, and I could work on the skins and the like and release the official file when it's completely finished. Hopefully doing it that way would decrease version compatibility issues like those that occured with my Tercero-Sabers.

The skinpack will also include a new version of my Tercero-Sabers, very likely the final one. Rather than making new versions that just make minor changes, I now have a system implemented (thanks to Garik Loran) where you can make different color packs which you can scroll through simply by binding a couple of keys (opposed to binding a button to each color as in the previous release). The package will probably come with a saber scheme for each movie and an EU scheme as well.

Also, I wanted to see who people think I should do next after my next few Jedi models (Obi-Wan Ep1, Obi-Wan Ep2, Qui-Gon, Mace Windu) I'm thinking that I might want a break from doing jedi - I was thinking about Padme/Amidala (which would include many of the costumes she wore in the movies, both Ep1 and 2) or Leia (who would also have a pretty sizable wardrobe, which would include the slave-girl dress to boot). I'm kinda torn between them, but I was thinking that Amidala might be a better idea since the models I'm doing already are all from EP1+2.

*Phew - my fingers hurt after all that... ah well, back to work for me!

Oops, I really didn't mean to get you behind the 8 ball there Terc, I don't mind rigging the face, I'm working on that now for Palp, I've never rigged a mesh for facial animations before, but so far I have about half of his face weighted in a proper and convinceable way (looks wild, and I'm learning a ton :) )

So I guess that answers the question, yes, he'll have facial animations :)

I vote for Mace Windu. Any jedi will be a simpler model at this point since the structure is pretty much already built. And since Kman says hes working on skinning Tex's Obi-Wan, and we have very few Jedi as opposed to sith models, I vote Windu. But I definitely would like to see Queen Amidala as well.

I would definetly like to see you do an Amidala down the road, shes already been done but since you like to make so many costumes and are so good at facial detail i think you'd do her great justice. However my vote for your next model goes to Leia, i get shivers thinking how accurate of a slave outfit you would make for her. :p

btw i should have the new sounds done in a few days.

I personally think a model of obiwan should be made that might include the hair from ep 1 and ep2.... maybe a beard for the ep2 version. If you get what I'm saying. The same model but changable things. Obiwan only because no one has done a decent obiwan. And if Anakin is this cool. Obiwan would probably be just as cool. But if no Ben then I'd vote for Leia. It seems to me that people are more focused on the prequels. I'd really like to see a good Leia model. Lol, anyway that's my drawn out point of view heh.

Right now I'm planning to make Obi-Wan from Ep1+2, Qui-Gon, and Mace Windu.

I should be able to knock them out pretty quickly - just put new heads on Anakin's body, and change the proportions again.

I was thinking either Amidala or Leia after them.

Right now I'm not really considering any EU chars - I want to get the character from the movies out there first. There's also more reference material out there for characters from the movies, and more definitive material at that. I can't count the different Mara Jade's I've seen...

If I do do any EU, she'd probably be the first, followed by a remake of Kyle...

Oh, Ulic, where did you get the pic for that avatar - if there's comic reference online, it could prove invaluable to the project - sometimes it's a lot easier to pick things off of a drawing than a picture.

Honestly, once I get the Anakin model done, it will go faster than it would be to skin the models to make the new models for the new Jedi. I actually really hate skinning, so I try to do it as little as possible - it just takes me too long. I also have a lot of trouble skinning on other peoples' UV's so I'll probably just make a few new heads. I'd have to hold off on skinning them anyway to keep on schedule for Anakin.

I'm making the skins for Anakin so that they can be color shifted to be used for other Jedi's clothing, so I can quickly make skins for more jedi later, so that should be the fastest and best way to get them in game.

Understandable. Its funny that were even on this topic. I had e-mailed you about it earlier.

I actually really hate skinning

For someone who hates skinning, you do it pretty well. Maybe you could show me sometime how to skin. I do art, but I don't know exactly what skinning requires.

Keo, with your eye, I think that you'd be really good at skinning. Basically skinning is just painting the colors and minor shadows onto a model. I use Photoshop to do mine.

The tough part is dealing with UV's- they determine how the texture wraps around the model. There's nothing more difficult than skinning a model with bad UV's.

I actually left a project a while back because the models that I was skinning had funky UV's and the modeler refused to change them.

That's a big part of the reason I said it'd be easier to jsut use my model - the UV's will already be done, and so will the textures. It'll cut my workload by about 90%! The rest of the Jedi should only take as long as it's taken me to nail down Anakin's head.

If you want some help with skinning, just drop me a PM. I'll try to dig up some samples of stuff to get you started.

This model just keeps getting better and better with every day. For your next model, I'd really like to see Qui-Gon. Though it's very hard to vote on that because Obi, Mace, Padme and Leia are also models that would be great to see. But Qui-Gon is the one I've seen least done, Tex's was looking extremely promising but since he's gotten extremely busy with real life it doesn't look like that one will be done any time soon if at all. I have the Qui-Gon skin on the Jedi Trainer, which looks really good, but I hate the bun on top of his head. I guess if not him then either Leia or Mace, Leia is practically non-existant except for the Boussh model which I deleted so she's a good choice. Finding a Mace model would be nice too.

I wish I could help lighten your load of work Tercero, but unfortunately all I have is a photoshop and a bit of experience altering textures, not making new ones, so I'm no help. But great job on Anakin, I like him better than the real JK2 models.
