Sometimes I wonder why I bother? Rant about being single

Over 3 years later we are still together, which is surprising cos we did not know each other till we went out, so dont just limit yourself to circles of friends.

Hope that is of some help... or maybe I just rambled on about my life :D

Nah, your absolutely right. One of the things I've always had to keep in the back of my mind is that nothing happens instantly. All of my previous relationships really started before I knew what was happening.

I'm definatly not just sticking to my circle of friends, that pond is a bit dry. I'm very good at meeting total strangers and starting up a conversation, but I seem to be getting frustrated because I'm not meeting the type of people that I really want to associate with. The online thing has been an intresting experence. I primarily use the Internet as a research and business tool, not a place to meet people, but I'm slowly warming up to the idea of meeting people online too. I guess the bottom line is that I have to be more patient.

We're not all simple STTCT, I've actually been told by some of my women friends that I'm one of the most complicated people they've ever met. Alot of us are actually honest people too. Dishonesty is unacceptible on both sides IMO.

Oh, the way I've always handled the old "Do I look fat?" question is to say "I don't think I'm the right person to ask, since I love your body so I'm bias" and that's being honest to me. I like women of all shapes and sizes.

:eyeraise: I never understood a word of that..

It's quite annoying when girls say "Do I look fat in this?" "Do I look ok?" "Is my hair alright?" "Do I smell?" "Does my bum look big in this?" Arg.. My sister says those things ALL THE TIME!

  • 2 weeks later...

sigh the dreams of youth

are the regrets of maturity

I am so glad to like so far removed

from the whole he said she said fuzzy

wuzzy butterflies love thing.

people are all the same they

are not honest with themselves

they are not honest with each other

and most oft they do all the right things

for all the wrong reasons.

such as well i had to marry her

we've been together for 6 years.

(notice the words or phrase)'because I love her and she

is the alpha of my omega never get in there.

it's well out of obligation

or social expectation

or to get money cause an uncle

will pay for a house if I get married

etc....

people date and lie from moment one

they gloss over every fault the other has

and yet miraculously when the break up happens

all those flaws become public forum and public knowledge

people spend hours going oh does she like me?

does he like me I want to ask I can't

how amny more flowers can I brutalize

in nursery ryhme horror

if you are in love you are in love

and if you mange to get into a relationship

try being honest for once

and posting about your relationships

or love life is kind of like saying

i stopped taking drugs

i used to do cocaine not any more

but ya i'm still smoking weed.

I wish i could sound sympathetic to you

but i have more friends of old

who seem fractiaonally sometimes happy

to be in their currebt situation

but mainly unhappy but too damn

apathetic to do anything about it.

anyhow I am an old grouch when it comes

to all this much a do about nothing.

Toonces, I've got two words for you:

Happy Hour.

:D

Just don't get there so late that the ladies are smashed. ;) Buying them a drink always helps to break the ice, too. This is not to say that you should pick up the girls you meet in the bar, but through conversation something meaningful can perhaps emerge.

Wow, and I thought I was the only person here who had been single for more than a 1½ years. Hmm, as for advice I dont have any, I've always taken things as they came, and I'll prolly continue doing that. So calm down, you'll meet the right woman some day.

At least thats what I'm hoping to do, It hasnt happened yet, but I hope to meet one this summe when I'm on vacation ;).
