It all depends on what skills you are after. You may attain master Ranger and then find that the benefits are not worth the loss of your skill points. Then you can ditch that skill and continue searching for a different path.

Also, when you progres down an elite profession path, once you attain novice in that path you can surrender the skills that were required to get that profession. Inside tip for you. So basically:

You Master Marksman

Then you Master Pistoleer

You decide you are sticking with pistols so now....

You can ditch Rifle skills and Carbine skills, giving you skill points to pursue other interests.

You could also drop all of your Marksman pistol skills as you no longer need them.

so could i master pistoleer, and then sell back my marksman pistol skills without loosing my master pistoleer? does marksman pistol skill have anything id miss if i wanted to be a master pistoleer? isnt a carbine good at short to medium range, what is the rate of fire, and are you saying that pistol is better than carbine?

But won't you give up the skill that you've learned?

Example: I go on to pistoleer, and drop marksman-pistols, will I no longer be able to do a "roll shot"? Or what about all those aiming and speed boosts (+5) that I earned, will I loose those?

It's this way in crafting isn't it? If you give up the lesser trees than you can no longer build the simpler things. Right?

Well, the best skills you get in Marksman Pistoleer are Bodyshot 2 and Healthshot. At Novice Pistoleer you get Healthshot 2 and with two skill raises you can get Bodyshot 3.

Yes, after attaining Novice Pistoleer, you can sell back your Marksman skills. I would suggest waiting until you had some accuracy increases and both bodyshot 3 and Healthsot 2 before doing this though.

Jatari, you're insane. You won't even get half of what you just said. Way too much, tone it down a bit.

Punisher,

Yes, that is the way it works, but you really won't need all of the boosts from the pistol branch anyway. Most of the skills you probably won't use anyway. If you do a roll to 'position' you cannot use your special attacks, so I normally avoid doing it unless it's a very weak opponent, and even then it's faster to kill them with specials than to try and avoid damage yourself.

I have a few questions my self.........I am looking to be deadly with a rifle.........

1. Is the rifleman proffesion a elit profesion.........?

2. Would it be best to learn all skills for rifle in the marksman ptoffesion......?

3. In the long run are rifles stronger than carbines and pistols......?

4. Also is there anything els i should know to be deadly with a rife.....

I hope these are good questions.......and i hope hey are answerd.....Thank you.......

If that's true, it sounds very much like a bug to me. I'd be surprised if it's left that way.

I don't know, the number of professions Jatari is throwing out just doesn't sound right, but I ran the math on my character and it works out so...I guess it's right.

I am unsure if the skill dropping will make it into release, but it would make for much more diverse characters.

Edit: Nevermind, I re-read it. You do know that you need to master Marksman and Scout to be a Bounty Hunter right?

No, that would just be cheesy. You can give up the skill, and you lose all bonuses and stats from that skill. The advantage is that if you wanted to be a BH fopr example, and didn't want Trapping from Scout, you could drop it afterwards and pick up...Pistoleer.

Up to this point I always thought you had to keep prerequisites (and the Devs have said that too). It's not that I don't believe you, but it sounds too good to be true. Maybe I'm just hearing what I want to hear.

I go up the Carbine section of Marksman. I become a Carbineer, and decide to get rid of all my Marksman SP. That doesn't really sound logical. That's like learning how to add and subtract, then learning how to multiply and divide. If you forget how to add and subtract, you can’t multiply and divide anymore (I know, not the best metaphor). It just doesn’t sound right to me.
